The White House is will to open a path to citizenship to 1.8 million Dreamers but only if Democrats will give Trump $25 billion to pay a wall that he promised that Mexico would pay for.
Via CNN, here’s what the White House wants in exchange for letting 1.8 million Dreamers stay:
The White House would like to see a $25 billion investment in a trust for border infrastructure and technology, as well as more funds for personnel, and an end to family migration beyond spouses and minor children. The diversity visa lottery would also be abolished, with those visas going to work through a backlog of people already waiting for family visas and high-skilled immigration green cards.
In what may end up being the most contentious piece of the proposal, the White House is also defining as border security closing “legal loopholes” that will allow it to deport more immigrants — which would likely include changes in immigration enforcement authority that would be virtually impossible for Democrats to swallow.

The right has already flipped out with Breitbart calling Trump Amnesty Don, and Democrats are not going to be able to sell paying for the wall and allowing Trump to deport more immigrants in exchange for DACA. The White House made an offer that Democrats will never accept. Democrats aren’t going to pay for the wall and cut legal immigration in exchange for DACA.
Trump is going to have to get his wall money from Mexico because Democrats have consistently stated that they aren’t going vote to spend a dime on Trump’s wall.
