The Trumps Wanted To A Borrow A Van Gogh For The White House Instead They Were Offered A Toilet

Donald and Melania Trump wanted to borrow a Van Gogh painting from the Guggenheim. Instead, the museum offered them a gold toilet.

The Washington Post reported:
The emailed response from the Guggenheim’s chief curator to the White House was polite but firm: The museum could not accommodate a request to “borrow†a painting by Vincent Van Gogh for President and Melania Trump’s private living quarters.

The curator’s alternative: an 18-karat, fully functioning, solid gold toilet — an interactive work titled “America†that critics have described as pointed satire aimed at the excess of wealth in this country.

The artist “would like to offer it to the White House for a long-term loan,†wrote Spector, who has been critical of Trump. “It is, of course, extremely valuable and somewhat fragile, but we would provide all the instructions for its installation and care.â€

If the Trumps want a Van Gogh, they should go buy one for themselves. After all, Trump loves to pretend that he is a billionaire. It takes a ton of entitlement and nerve to ask to borrow a Van Gogh, not for public display but for the private residence. The Trumps are living in one of the greatest museums in the world. The White House is a treasure. It doesn’t need a Van Gogh to spruce things up.

A functioning gold plated toilet would have been the perfect artistic loan for the Trump White House. A president who values wealth over everything while he flushes dignity, civil rights and the Constitution deserves a toilet. A gold plated toilet is a dead-on accurate representation of this administration’s treatment of the country.

Donald Trump wouldn’t know a Van Gogh from a van down by the river. A tacky an tasteless president deserves a work of art that reflects who the Trumps really are.
