Joy Reid called out Fox News on MSNBC’s AM Joy for trying to blame Obama for Trump’s pattern of defending men who abuse women and girls.

After playing a clip of Fox News blaming Obama for Trump’s constant defense of men who abuse their wives, Reid said, “Fox News, Donald Trump’s favorite TV channel has revived its tried and true tactic for getting the Republican president out of a jam. Blame Obama. They found a way to blame the former president, who did not abuse women, much less his wife and face allegations of sexual misconduct or assault. For the latest trump white house scandal. Fox’s trump defense should come as no surprise the network reflects the attitude of Trump himself, who has a long history of defending men accused of misconduct and assault against women and girls. Including Alabama’s Roy Moore and Fox’s own Bill O’Reilly and Roger Ailes. Trump added to his repertoire yesterday tweeting, ‘people’s lives are being shattered and destroyed by a mere allegation,’ adding is there no such thing anymore as due process. Trump did not share who the people are but his tweet came as two West Wing aides now former staff secretary rob porter, and now former speechwriter David Sorenson resigned amid allegations they abused their ex-wives. Both men continue to deny the allegations.”
Reid was correct. Trump is in serious trouble, and eventually, this sense of doom will penetrate the conservative media bubble, so Fox has to figure out a way to rally the troops around Trump, and so they have returned to that old standby of blaming Barack Obama. Of course, Obama didn’t hire the people who are currently working in the White House, that was Trump. Obama has never defended a man accused of domestic violence. That was also Trump. Obama himself has never been accused of abusing women. This was also Donald Trump.
There is a midterm election about to happen. Republicans are apathetic and depressed. There is no evidence that their tactic of running against Nancy Pelosi is working, so they are going to try to save themselves by hoping that America forgets that they are in charge of everything, and blames Obama.
The blame Obama card expired in January 2017. Fox News can’t defend Trump, and Joy Reid demonstrated how ridiculous their attempt to blame Obama really is.
