Michael Cohen Could Be On The Verge Of Pinning Russia Collusion Directly On Trump

Michael Cohen appears to be ready to flip on Donald Trump, and that could have some very serious ramifications, not just for the ongoing Stormy Daniels legal battle but also for the ongoing investigation into Trump-Russia collusion.

As Rachel Maddow pointed out on Wednesday, citing a Buzzfeed report from last month, Cohen “was in frequent contact with foreign individuals about Trump Tower Moscow — and that some of these individuals had knowledge of or played a role in 2016 election meddling, according to two FBI agents.”

If this is true, as the MSNBC host said, it would spell big trouble for the president and his legal team.

Maddow said:

‘Cohen was in frequent contact with foreign individuals about Trump Tower Moscow – and that some of those individuals had knowledge of or had played a role in Russia’s 2016 election meddling.’ That Buzzfeed report cited two FBI agents as the source of that information. If, in fact, that is true, that means during the campaign, while secretly trying to arrange a major business deal for Donald Trump in Russia, Michael Cohen was in repeated contact with people who were directly involved in Russia’s election meddling at that time to try to elect Donald Trump. If that’s true, that would obviously be a serious concern for the Trump White House. Particularly if Cohen is going to start cooperating with prosecutors and telling them what he knows about that.

Cohen is the piece that connects all of Trump’s scandals

The Michael Cohen investigation isn’t just about paying hush money to Trump’s many mistresses. It’s about whether the Trump campaign colluded with Russia, a foreign adversary, and whether the president himself was directly involved.

What we do know is that Cohen – the president’s personal lawyer and confident – appears to have been right in the thick of it.

In fact, everywhere we look – secret business deals, porn star payoffs, campaign finance violations and Russian collusion – Michael Cohen is front and center.

It’s no wonder that, as Jason Easley pointed out earlier today, Cohen is essentially begging Trump for a pardon.

Ultimately, the fact that Michael Cohen has now parted ways with his legal team and looks ready to cooperate with federal investigators should scare the hell out of the White House.
