Morning Joe Panel Says “Trump’s Lawyers Think He’s a Moron”

Morning Joe was quick to react to President Donald Trump‘s latest tweet attacking their popular early-morning talk show for its ratings. On Thursday morning hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski, assuming the president was watching, addressed their comments directly to him, and seemed to be having a lot of fun doing it. Scarborough, for example, advised the president to “get some sleep.”

Earlier on Thursday morning Trump had tweeted:

“Wow, @foxandfriends is blowing away the competition in the morning ratings. Morning Joe is a dead show with very few people watching and sadly, Fake News CNN is also doing poorly. Too much hate and inaccurately reported stories – too predictable!”

Scarborough responded by saying:

“If it’s true nobody is watching us anymore, we know based on your staff members that we have at least one viewer every morning, and we thank you Donald. We can always count on you. How are you doing? Get some sleep. We’re sad for you. “

“He’s not doing well.”

Morning Joe also said that Trump would “do the country a great favor” by sitting down with Robert Mueller, which he has so far refused to do. Scarborough said he thought a presidential interview would help to quickly bring an end to the Russia investigation, even though it might not be a good ending for Trump.

Scarborough and Brzezinski were talking to former Justice Department spokesman Matthew Miller and they all agreed that Donald Trump’s own lawyers have very little confidence in him because they have indicated that they don’t believe he can be trusted to undergo a full-length interview with Mueller.

Brzezinski then noted that Trump’s legal team’s reaction to the president’s behavior and their lack of confidence in him says a lot about their opinions with respect to the president’s behavior, saying:

“It appears and many would deduce that his lawyers think he’s a moron, and his tweets indicate that he’s very afraid, tweeting all night long, tweeting about morning shows. I mean, this is unhinged behavior and someone who keeps tweet being this investigation as he could push it away with I don’t know, trying to manipulate the press.”

The latest comments from Scarborough and Brzezinski came after it was reported that Robert Mueller had offered to compromise and limit the number of questions to be asked of the president. But Rudy Giuliani said they still would not agree to an interview.

“So, it’s obvious. Donald Trump’s lawyers have no confidence in him. They don’t think he’s smart enough to sit across the table,” Scarborough said, and then added, “I would be insulted if I were him. He can hire the lawyers he wants to hire. What is at risk if he sits down with Mueller?”
