Brett Kavanaugh‘s Supreme Court nomination took another hit on Saturday morning as a GOP press aide that was working on the Kavanaugh nomination resigned after being accused of past sexual misconduct.
According to NBC News, “A press adviser helping lead the Senate Judiciary Committee’s response to a sexual assault allegation against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh has stepped down amid evidence he was fired from a previous political job in part because of a sexual harassment allegation against him.”
The report found that the aide also “embellished” parts of his resume.

Garrett Ventry, 29, who serves as a communications aide to the committee chaired by Sen. Charles Grassley, R-Iowa, had been helping coordinate the majority party’s messaging in the wake of Christine Blasey Ford’s claim that Kavanaugh sexually assaulted her 36 years ago at a high school party. In a response to NBC News, Ventry denied any past “allegations of misconduct.”

Ventry worked as a social media adviser in 2017 in the office of North Carolina House Majority Leader John Bell, who fired Ventry after several months.

Sources familiar with the situation said Ventry was let go from Bell’s office after parts of his resume were found to have been embellished, and because he faced an accusation of sexual harassment from a female employee of the North Carolina GOP General Assembly.
Judge Kavanaugh’s nomination should be immediately pulled
If Brett Kavanaugh, the president and his Republican defenders care one ounce about the reputation of the highest court in the land, they will immediately pull this nomination.
Even if they want a conservative justice, which they clearly do, there are certainly candidates out there who don’t bring with them a long history of alleged sexual misconduct.
Whether it’s the credible allegations from Dr. Christine Blasey Ford or the fact that Kavanaugh only hired “model-like” clerks or even the latest development that a GOP press aide working on behalf of Kavanaugh has his own past of sexual harassment, enough is enough.
America wants to move on from Brett Kavanaugh. Not only is he the most unpopular Supreme Court nominee in history, but he has already tainted the court without even serving on it.
His nomination should be pulled and the effort to fill the Supreme Court vacancy shouldn’t resume until after the 2018 midterm elections.
