Giuliani Admits the Trump Campaign Colluded With Russia

Rudy Giuliani told Chris Cuomo on CNN last night that he “never said there was no collusion” between the Trump campaign and Russia. The former New York City mayor said that in the past he had only claimed that the president  himself was not personally involved in collusion. By his statements, the president’s personal attorney basically admitted that the Trump campaign did in fact collude with Russia to help Trump win the 2016 election.

The shocking admission came after Cuomo said it was false for Giuliani to suggest there was no collusion between Trump’s presidential campaign and the Kremlin. Trump’s personal attorney then appeared angry, blurting out, “I never said there was no collusion between the campaign. Or between people in the campaign.â€

He then added:

“There is not a single bit of evidence the president of the United States committed the only crime you could commit here, conspiring with the Russians to hack the Democratic National Committee.â€

“The president did not collude with the Russians.â€

Giuliani went on by saying:

“If the collusion happened, it happened a long time ago. It’s not provable because it never happened. … I’m telling you there’s no chance it happened.â€

Giuliani’s candid and revealing comments came as special counsel Robert Mueller appears to be near the end of his investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election. Mueller has also been investigating collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia, as well as possible obstruction of justice on the part of Trump.

It appeared that last night Giuliani was attempting to create a new narrative about the Mueller probe before the special counsel releases new damning evidence of Trump’s connection to Russia.

Conservative commentator Max Boot, also appearing on CNN, was floored by Giuliani’s comments, saying:

“I think we’re about one or two days away from Rudy Giuliani saying that collusion with hostile foreign powers is what makes America great.â€

“This is just stunning because when Giuliani makes these kinds of concessions — and you’ve got to play that clip over and over again because the president’s lawyer is basically admitting that the president’s campaign colluded with Russia to influence the outcome of the American election.â€

“Rudy Giuliani is saying, ‘I’m not denying there’s collusion. I’m just saying it didn’t involve the president personally. I’m saying the president didn’t personally break the law.’ This is establishing a new defensive perimeter.â€

“He’s basically signaling that he knows there is very strong evidence of collusion, and he is trying to get out ahead of that evidence.â€

Rudy Giuliani last night admitted that the 2016 Trump campaign colluded with Russia. His only defense is to say that this was all done without the president’s involvement or knowledge.

In other words, Giuliani and Trump are trying to throw everyone else in his campaign under the bus. He’s trying to save himself at their expense.

Many people broke laws and colluded with Russia to help Donald Trump, and now Trump’s lawyer is saying that he didn’t know about it and wasn’t involved. Which of course is ridiculous, and nobody will believe him.

The time has come for Bob Mueller to let the American people see the evidence he has about the many crimes committed by Donald Trump on his road to the presidency.
