Speaker Pelosi responded to Trump‘s demand for a downpayment for his wall by saying that she doesn’t think Trump knows what he’s talking about.
Pelosi said to reporters, “I don’t know if he knows what he’s talking about, do you? I don’t even know what that means.”

NEW: Asked if she knew what was Pres. Trump referring to by “large downpayment” on wall as part of short-term compromise to end shutdown, Speaker Pelosi replies, “I don’t know if he knows what he’s talking about, do you?” https://t.co/66LG0RumHc pic.twitter.com/qM7mJhOpOs

After the Democratic bill got more votes in the Republican-controlled Senate than his wall plan, Trump had Sarah Sanders put out a statement demanding a downpayment for his wall. Sanders said, “Leader Mitch McConnell and Senator Chuck Schumer are meeting now to see whether or not they can work out of the deadlock. As was made clear to Senator Lindsay Graham, the 3 week CR would only work if there is a large down payment on the wall.â€
Pelosi wrecked Trump in record time
Trump continues to play the only game that he has. He blusters and makes demands, as Nancy Pelosi looks at him completely unfazed and says no. Pelosi is acting like what she is, the leader of a co-equal branch of the government. Trump‘s demands are pointless. The president lacks the power, and the political capital to back up his words. The Senate votes exposed Trump‘s weakness within his own party.
Speaker Pelosi has no fear of Trump, which is why she owns him at every turn.
