Right Wing Blames Obama for the Glenn Beck Advertiser Boycott
It was only a matter of time before Glenn Beck’s supporters started blaming President Obama for the advertiser boycott of Beck’s FNC program. Many on right claim that the boycott is censoring Beck. So Obama managed to take time away from trying to pass health care reform to pressure Glenn Beck’s advertisers? That certainly makes absolutely no sense.
Over at Politics Daily, they believe that they have found the connection between the group carrying out the boycott, Color of Change and President Obama, “Conservatives have questioned Color of Change’s motives. The co-founder of Color of Change is Van Jones, who was appointed by Obama in May as the special adviser for Green Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation at the White House Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ). Jones is listed on ColorofChange.org as: “Former Staff, Van Jones (Co-founder, inactive).”
Politics Daily apparently doesn’t understand the definition of censorship, “The pressure on advertisers has become a politically charged debate about the right to free speech, censorship and what constitutes hate speech.”For the sake of clarity, here is the American Heritage Dictionary definition of a censor, “An official who examines books, plays, news reports, motion pictures, radio and television programs, letters, cablegrams, etc., for the purpose of suppressing parts deemed objectionable on moral, political, military, or other grounds.”
If we apply the definition to the Beck boycott, it is clear that Beck is not being censored. He still has his FNC program, and he is still saying whatever he wants. Glenn Beck is free to pursue his First Amendment rights, just as his advertisers are free to not advertise on his show if they find his speech objectionable. These conservatives don’t understand the free market. Advertisers are free to spend their dollars wherever they wish. They don’t have to advertise on Beck’s show.
It is ridiculous to even entertain the notion that Obama has the time, energy, or desire to carry out a conspiracy against Glenn Beck. Obama has nothing to worry about from Beck. His 2 million viewers despise the president and would never support him in a million years. Beck is nothing compared to the President of the United States.
The reality is that outside of the Cult of Glenn, Beck’s comments about President Obama being a racist were either considered offensive or insane. Beck’s race baiting terrified advertisers and they are fleeing his show in droves. This has nothing to do with Obama, and everything to do with the type of politics that Beck has been engaging in.

Judging from Monday night’s broadcast, there were plenty of companies eager to fill the ad slots, including The Wall Street Journal, DirecTV, Honda and Oprah Winfrey’s Oxygen Channel.

As obviously obsessed with media coverage as our President is, I feel sure his administration is well aware Glenn Beck’s broadcasts. No doubt they could give a flip about the man’s opinions, and many people don’t. However, I doubt Beck’s research is ignored. e.g. the segment with Pat Caddell about Rahm Emanuel (see youtube.) Further, his research seems hard to refute or someone would do so and attack him on the facts. Instead all I see is the under-appreciated irony of people calling Glenn Beck a racist because he called the President a racist. Personally, I wouldn’t call the President a racist, but his performance on the Gates matter (paraphrasing -”I don’t have the facts, but clearly one side acted stupidly”) is the very definition of prejudice.

It’s called “Free Market”. No one wants to pay for his goods, which means he needs to either adapt to the market or plan on making less money.
Entertainment news isn’t a welfare system for retired clowns, you know.

I didn’t hear anybody crying censorship when the wingnuts at firedavidletterman.com were pressuring advertisers to pull their ads from The Late Show. But then it’s only censorship when it’s done to you, when you do it to others, it’s justice. Somebody needs to read The Bill Of Rights again (or for the first time, even).

These companies, particularly WALMART, have no problems with “associating” with million man army of illegal aliens that are in the process of conquering the U.S. When Americans criticize these companies for doing business with illegals, their CEOs claim that profit and money is all that count for them.
This case show how untruthful, duplicitous, and and deceitful they are. They do have their political agenda and they flex their $$ muscle in order to push it down our throats.
I stopped shopping in WALMART as while ago and encourage every paleo-American to do so.

You are an inbred retard. That goes for anybody who watches this excrement that passes for journalism. Why not do your own research instead of just swallowing whatever sludge falls out of this mongoloid’s head? It’s clear you need to be told what to think.
You and Beck are what’s wrong with this country today. Truth? It’s a wonder you can even spell it.

As usual a liberal when confronted with irrefutable facts that he/she disagrees with will resort to childish name calling.
You may not like Beck or his views but his research is on target. He is being singled out by Van Jones because Beck is a threat to the current regime plain and simple. .As you so wisely state in your semi literate post…do your own research!
