After Accidental Shooting at The Dixie Gun Show, Organizers Warn No Personal Firearms
Happy Gun Appreciation Day. The Dixie Gun and Knife Show in Raleigh, North Carolina was closed today after an accidental gun shooting in the Jim Graham Building injured two people.
WRAL reported:
Emergency crews responded to the scene shortly after 1 p.m., and two people were loaded into ambulances.
A witness told WRAL that a gun went off after being checked by an official at a safety check-in location, hitting a man in the hand and a woman in the side.
So an “official” at the check in probably made this error but we need to arm our schools. Yesterday, a ‘firearms instructor’ hired as an armed guard left his loaded gun in a school bathroom.
The Dixie Gun and Knife Show is opening tomorrow but they warn patriots that you MAY NOT BRING PERSONAL GUNS TO THE SHOW.
“The Show WILL BE OPEN TOMORROW 1/20/2013 at 10am
NO PERSONAL FIREARMS ARE TO BE BROUGHT INTO THE SHOW.”
Keep your guns and your crazy to yourself, please. Gun sellers are trying to make money off of you and they can’t do that when you do really stupid things.
Freedom is when Republicans ban guns at their convention and now gun shows ban your personal firearms while selling you firearms.
You are encouraged to get mad enough to kill if a black person or a Democrat threatens to require that only sane, non-criminals carry assault weapons, but if a Republican or gun seller restricts your gun rights, well, that’s just them looking after themselves. Naturally, you understand this because the Dixie Show is known for its racist, white supremacy flavored Confederate fever.
Discharge at will so long as you are away from the folks whipping you into a frenzy about your gun rights. Keep your guns on your side of crazy, patriots! No personal guns at the gun shows because they are dangerous. But guns belong in schools.
Oh, freedom.
Update: CNN is reporting now that three people were injured at the Dixie Gun Show, after a man’s gun discharged as he was opening the case for his 12 gauge shotgun. Private guns are banned for the rest of the show (one gun “accident” and they ban them, but we are supposed to not even ask for background checks).
And further north, gun appreciation day is going no better. “(I)n Indianapolis, a man walking out of the Indy 1500 Gun and Knife Show shot himself in the hand as he was loading his .45-caliber semi-automatic firearm…” Then at an Ohio gun show, “the local ABC affiliate reports that one individual was brought to a hospital by EMS.” This news prompted reader Jordan Eckerling to rename Gun Appreciation Day to the more apt “Darwin Appreciation Day”.

No carrying personal guns at a gun show? But, liberty – 2nd amendment rights – FREEDOM! Is it a socialist gun show?
slightly O/T: Do any of you know a dollar figure for the USA’s hospital bill for gunshot wounds annually?

Thank you, djchefron. I was looking for some current numbers, but from the article you kindly cite:
“gunshot injuries in the United States in 1994 produced $2.3 billion in lifetime medical costs, of which $1.1 billion (49%) was paid by US taxpayers. Gunshot injuries due to assaults accounted for 74% of total costs.”

Where are our math majors at that can calculate that figure into todays figures. The closest thing I can imagine is the tax rates. If the high end was 200.000 in 1994 and today its about 400.000,whoa nellie!! Thats a bunch of moolah going to pay for gunshot wounds.

We should all thank gun enthusiasts across the nation for celebrating Gun Appreciation Day. They have enlightened us all and helped us to appreciate how dangerous these weapons can be in the hands of “law-abiding citizens”.
What’s next — “Bring your Guns to Work” Day?

I want to know if these “patriots” that were taken to the hospitals by EMS have health insurance coverage. If not, park their butts on the sidewalk for they are Anti-Obama Care freeloaders. They want to play, they should pay!

Like other posters have said, the irony is hilariously obvious. Ever since the Sandy Hook massacre, we have been bombarded with numerous examples that underscore the absurdity of the way that gun nuts think. We’ve been subjected to the usual whining about all gun rights being taken away and how our thoughtful, intelligent, and solution-oriented president is a “dictator.” This incident at the Dixie Gun Show is just one of the latest manifestations of how gun nuts twist themselves into weird shapes with contradictory, self-serving actions and words.

Why is the Gun show infringing on the 2nd amendment rights of these patriots? The Gun Show must be an Obama trick, like Sandy Hook was.

I have a solution. As the 2nd amendment refers to a Militia, let,s have the US government use these gun owners as authorized militia. They would have to spend one month drilling as soldiers do and provide X number of weeks onactive duty. Rather like the draft. Those over 55 YEARS OF AGE CAN STILL BE ENGAGED AS AS THE NATIONAL GUARD DURING DIDASTERS TO DETER THEFT OF PROPERTY. eVERYONE SHALL BE FINGERPRINTED WITH ALL INFO ON FILE WITH THE FBI. ISN’T THAT THE PURPOSE OF THEMILITIA????????????T THEIR SALARY WOULD BE THE SAME AS AN ELISTED ROOKIE, WITH ADVANCE BASED ON YEARS OF SERVICE TO THE USA…………………………….

Okay to give it the benefit of the doubt, and the situation for so many people they’re getting stir crazy and not in the best frame of mind. Has this ever happen before at the gun shows, in previous years that these gun? I was raised around guns’s I’m re-posting a lot of Second amendment rights and history of our founding fathers, on my face book but I don’t think I said anything about marching on the white house or killing anyone, but I will defend my home, I was taught respect for gun’s and other peoples right’s I’v lived in the South most of my life and I love almost everyone. I just have had it with our government, for more than one reason than guns. Thank you so much.
