Alan Grayson Blasts Paul, Perry, and Bachmann For Stimulus Hypocrisy
On MSNBC, Alan Grayson blasted Michele Bachmann, Rick Perry, and Ron Paul for the hypocrisy of opposing the stimulus while begging the Obama administration for stimulus dollars.
Here is the video from MSNBC:
Visit msnbc.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy
When asked by host Al Sharpton about Republicans using support for the stimulus against Democrats, but then taking stimulus money, Alan Grayson said,
Well, that’s right, and many others, but the fact is over a hundred of them have taken credit for things that are in the stimulus bill after they voted against it, which is the height of hypocrisy. In fact, over and over again, what you see that is they complaint in public, but then they tell the public that are the good things are things that somehow they created.
I’ll give some more examples if you like. Rick Perry, he took $17 billion. Seventeen billion from that one bill, and now he depicts himself as a champion against government spending. Michele Bachmann, another example, her own family has received a quarter of a million in federal subsidies. That’s a quarter of a million for one family. Ron Paul usually is above this sort of thing, but he begged for it to build high-spade rail in Texas.
Rick Perry’s stimulus hypocrisy has been widely known for years. After slamming the stimulus in public, Perry quietly went to the Obama administration with his hat in hand in order to keep balance his state’s budget. Michele Bachmann’s largesse on the taxpayer dime is also well known. Bachmann has literally been lining her pockets with taxpayer cash for years, while she railed against excessive government spending.
Ron Paul is the only surprise on the list. Rep. Paul has a legion of defenders, but it is impossible to reconcile Paul’s behavior with his crusade to reduce the size, spending, and scope of the federal government. I don’t think saying that Paul voted against the bill, but once it passed he decided that he might as well get his slice of the pie is a good excuse. Rep. Paul is a man known for his principles, and requesting stimulus dollars appears to violate his stated beliefs.
Grayson was correct. Republicans used Democratic support for the stimulus as a weapon against them in the 2010 elections, and it was the height of hypocrisy for Republicans to not only get in on the money grab, but to also to take credit for the success of bill which they strongly opposed.
However, no one’s hypocrisy may be greater than Eric Cantor’s. Rep. Cantor was one of the main forces behind the Republican manufactured debt ceiling crisis. He is also one of the main reasons that the United States had its debt downgraded.
What the Newsweek investigation exposed is that Republicans believe in nothing. For GOP members of Congress, all this noise about cutting spending and small government is nothing but empty rhetoric designed to appease the base.
If you look behind the tea bags, you’ll see that the same big government GOP had never really stopped their high spending ways.

Alan Grayson is the man. Now why can’t Obama explicitly state these facts in a national speech and call out these traitors? Better yet, next time these traitors come asking the administration for money, they should immediately publicize it to to expose their hypocrisy.

Hypocrisy? Like Guantanamo bay? Continuing torture? Drone attacks that kill women and children? Letting Sudan off the hook for the Darfur genocide? Ordering military action in Libya without seeking Congressional authorization? Saying he would stop raiding medical marijuana clubs? I could go on and on. The boys a 1 term president. He is basically Mitt Romney with darker skin. Flip flops around. Our 1st president to ever have a relative arrested and deported. Stop supporting baby killers. Look past the welfare check.

LIbya was no way like Iraq. We didn’t lie about the thing or violate international law, and we assisted the Libyan rebels rather than force them to decide their future. And about the drone attacks: they are not perfect, but compare it to a land invasion when it comes to trying to get Al Queda terrorists. They are more efficient. If we could avoid casualties, that would be better, but in terms of hypocrisy:
“I’m not opposed to wars. I’m opposed to dumb wars.”
You misunderstood his opposition to the war in Iraq as being anti-war.

Excuse me, Obama (my friends call him obusha), is a base, craven, despicable warmonger. For what he did in Libya, he ought to be hauled before a criminal court & tried for crimes against humanity. You are telling a blatant lie when you say this nonsense about “all he did was help rebels”. We had NO RIGHT to interfere there. Ghadafi was loved, adored by his people. He enjoyed a 95% approval rating. The UN was about to bestow a humanitarian award on him. He allowed his people to share in the wealth of Libya’s natural resources. His government ruled housing as a human right. They had high quality, free healthcare. They had free electricity. Gasoline was 14 CENTS a liter. The government provided every newly married couple with 50 THOUSAND dollars to set up housekeeping. The literacy rate increase from 23% to 85% under Ghadafi’s rule. Education was high quality & free. If a Libyan wanted either health care or education they could not find in Libya, the government funded them to go abroad to find what they wanted. The government would pay 50% of the cost of a new automobile. His people adored him. He could move about, among them, freely. The reason the criminal, Obama, attacked Ghadafi was his implementation of his plan to convert all payment for Libyan resources, into the gold dinar. If you do not know this, check it out. If you do know it, shame on you. Shame on Obama. God have mercy on his soul.

What do you find so funny? Why would you presume this is sarcasm? Please research everything I have written here. The info is out there, if you choose to look elsewhere, than the lying US MSM. While you are at it, also check out the unprecedented freedom & rights that women enjoyed under Ghaddafi’s rule. This is deadly serious. What Obama did here is murderous. There is no excuse. Libya had become known as the Switzerland of Africa, under Ghaddafi. Libyans had a higher standard of living than many US citizens have. Check out the book Ghaddafi wrote about participatory democracy. It’s called “The Green Book”. Ghaddafi was a great man. He was a serious threat to the international banking scheme, precisely because he took proper care of his people & did not sell them out to ruthless criminals.

No you research. Why do you think the Libyan people were in revolt? Ghaddafi was murdering them. You sincerely must be kidding. You want me to check out a book that Ghaddafi wrote? Are you on drugs?
Why blame Obama” BTW, this was a NATO action, one that the world agreed with, even the damm Arab league of nations. Most of the civilized world does NOT agree with you
You have a lot of reading to do on Ghaddafi. You also need a great deal of help

Keep lapping up the lies. You are deluded. I have done tons of research on this. In 1953, Libya was the poorest country in the world. This is a FACT. Under Ghaddafi’s rule, they came to be the richest, most educated, prosperous country in Africa, with the highest standard of living on the continent. Life expectancy went from 44 yrs to 75 yrs under Ghaddafi’s watch. Women were freed, to not be made to wear the burqa, if they didn’t want to. They were allowed to be educated, work, drive, even serve in the armed forces. He allowed black Africans the same rights & freedoms that the Libyan Arab population had. He forbid racism against black Africans. He apologized to black Africans, for the role African Arabs played in the slave tade, centuries ago. The people of Libya loved their leader. They did not rise against him. Foreign mercenaries were brought in while NATO rained death & destruction on the civilian population. Our own government admit that the so-called rebels are affiliated with “al-queda”. The Qatar army was brought in to put down the people of Libya. Ever wonder why it took SO long to bring him down? He opened the armories & distributed the weapons to the people & trained them how to use them. What “dictator” does such a thing? These are easily verifiable FACTS. Another absolute fact. 95% of the population of Tripoli, 1.5 million residents rallied for Ghaddafi, against the bombings of NATO. The footage of these rallies can be seen on RT (Russian television). The western media was complicit in the lies told to people like you, ignorant, docile sheep. Stay right there in your cozy little paradigm while your criminal leader let’s slip the dogs of war. For shame on you.

Sorry, but the world does not agree with you.
Ghaddafi is the one who brought in the foreign mercenaries to fight his own imaginary people that were in revolt.. did you miss that in your research?
Does your research tell you about the thousands of assassinations he performed? Does your research tell you that he was aligned with Idi Amin? does your research tell you that most of the income from the oil in the country was spent on arms purchases? And that was the help of North Korea he was trying to build nuclear bombs?
The things you said about his people are true, the literacy rate did improve vastly, Women’s rights were very much improved as was that of the blacks and even immigrants. But he did it all with an iron fist over the people. One word of dissent and you were gone.
is people wanted out from under his rule. Just because the city of Tripoli might have been for him does not mean that the rest of the country was.

What say you, of a “dictator”, who opens the armories, distributes weapons to the people, trains them in how to use those weapons? Again I ask, what sort of dictator, whose people are supposedly in revolt, gives them weapons??
Can you just imagine such a thing happening in the USA, given the OWS demonstrations that are now emerging? What about the hypocrisy of our own gov. bulldozing peaceful demonstrations, attacking & SHOOTING & wounding them, with tear gas canisters & rubber bullets? Do you really believe these weapons are not lethal? Do you not see the oppression in your own backyard?
Do you think our gov. doesn’t murder to silence dissent? Shall we consider JFK, RFK, Martin Luther King, Paul Wellstone, just a short list, of the many victims of our own oppressors. Don’t you see these as assassinations? Maybe NATO should carpet bomb our cities for us, as they have done in Libya. Perhaps they should import the Qatar armed forces to deal with our civilians, as what has happened in Libya. After all, we are rebeling, no?
When you talk about “foreign mercenaries” that Ghaddafi brought in….. do you realize that the racist “rebels”, are talking about the black Africans who have lived in Libya under Ghaddafi? They freely admit that this is who they are talking about & they have been summarily torturing & executing any black person they find in Libya.
The world does not agree with me? Well, I disagree with you on that point, however, even if that was true, I ask you, so what? What do I care if “the world” agrees with me? The world agreed with Adolf Hitler at one time. He was the man of the year….. or haven’t you ever heard that story? I know the difference between right & wrong. I know when the media is pissing in my ear & telling me it’s raining. I know when I am being lied to. I saw tons of footage from reporters (check out Lizzy Phelan’s testimony on her time in Libya) trying to tell the truth & being threatened & marginalized for doing so.

Jon: your exhortations are typical bait-and-switch, false equivalency, change-the-subject rhetoric that mischaracterizes the original argument by mixing apples and oranges. The fact remains that each and every one of the Republicans in the House and Senate undermine America’s future for their own power grabbing benefit. They’re each and every one traitors and domestic terrorists – and that’s neither hyperbole nor demogoguery. And, poll after poll indicate that 52% to 76% of Americans agree, depending on how the question is asked.

Well, now, wait a second here. I agree with much of what you say, HOWEVER, I find that Dems are just as traitorous. I also disagree with your assertion that each & everyone of repubs are in this category. I have only, just this moment, heard of this about Ron Paul. I have not had a chance to research it. I do not know if it is true. I find it highly suspect. The man has a stellar 30 year record. This is highly uncharacteristic & I do intend to get to the root of this assertion. I also would not join you in characterizing all of either group. There are damn few honorable, decent democrats. It isn’t just repubs in the stinking cesspool of corruption. The only dems I can think of, offhand, to put in a category with decency, along with Ron Paul, is Dennis Kucinich, and possibly, Bernie Sanders (although I do disagree with much of his politics, I find him to be pretty honest). FYI, I am a longterm supporter of Ron Paul (I first heard him in the mid 90′s & I was hooked from day one), but I donated to & campaigned for, Dennis Kucinich, in 2004. I voted for Ralph Nader 3 years ago. I consider myself a Jeffersonian Libertarian. Please do not generalize. Please, do some research about this, you will be amazed at how corrupt the dems are. I am sickened by both parties. Look what the dem party did to Kucinich. Look what the repub party has done to Ron Paul. Take your cue from their opposition. This is the reason, I do not swallow this report, about RP. I intend to call his headquarters tomorrow & request an explanation. I will decide then.

Yeah, Sanders seems among the most forthright, and I too find his prescriptions overly “left”.
Ron Paul does the “states’ rights” weaseling, though. Why would a real ‘libertarian’, think that the local dogcatcher should limit individual’s specific rights yet federal government should not? Paul is radically libertarian compared to other repugs, but he’s still repug.
I don’t know enough about Grayson, but I have ‘hopeful’ impression of him. Unlike Obama, when Grayson states an accurate and un-PC observation, Grayson doesn’t (immediately?) backoff.
Even if Kakadaffi got the trains running on time in the 1950′s, he’d evidently gone horribly bad since.

Well, here’s the thing. States rights, are vital in that the PEOPLE have much more control over it. You can send that dogcatcher packing, through the election process. In my town, we do elect the animal control officer. If he is a nazi, it’s a simple matter to sack him.
This is the reason the constitution placed the COUNTY SHERIFF as the ultimate law of the land. No other agency is supposed to have jurisdiction over them. The reason for this is that the sheriff is elected. Again, I have had personal experience in how receptive the sheriff is to the people in his territory. If you have been following what has been happening out in …. new mexico, Nevada(? not sure) you would see blatant evidence of this.
This is the reason it is said all politics is local.
If we allow our rights to be whittled away at the state level, well, there go our rights!
What has happened in the last 100 or so years is that the federal gov has become so powerful, they have corrupted the states.
Example, water fluoridation. The feds bribe the states. They offer money based on how many people they can document are being poisoned.
If you would do even a cursory search of fluoridation & it’s genesis, it’s history & the terrible toxicity of it & the issue of mass medication (another issue concerning free choice) you would soon see how easily a powerful federal gov. has usurped they rights of the people for self determination.
This is why the founders were so concerned with states rights & limiting the power of the federal entity.
So, really, he isn’t weaseling, he has given careful consideration to the constitution & the cause & retention of our liberty. State’s rights is absolutely the way to go. I, personally, would like to see stronger COUNTY rights.
Speaking of county rights. If you would check it out, you would find that Ghaddafi had established this in Libya. He had set up over 6000 LOCAL councils. He was committed to participatory democracy. It was an excellent fit for the tribal society that is Libya. He didn’t get the trains running on time, he gave the power to his people & let them get the trains running. How did he do this? By cutting out the foreign corporations, nationalizing Libya’s natural resources & giving the proceeds to the people. This is indisputable fact. It’s the reason the west had to destroy him & Libya. Please check out that article I posted & some of the other articles by that author & follow some of the links you find in the search.
Once your eyes are opened to the awesome, iron grip, the liars have, on 95% of all info we recieve through the MSM, you will never see the world in the same way again.

All this stuff you listed does not excuse the hypocrisy of the GOP traitors listed in this article.
Regarding Guantanamo, its not that Obama doesn’t want to shut it down, its strong opposition from everybody because of the “not in my backyard” sentiment.
Who started torture? Let me explicitly tell you so you can’t be selective in your memory, it was the Bush administration and to this day they still believe it.
Drone attacks? That’s one of the best thing Obama has done. Sending drones to wipe out terrorists has been extremely effective so far. Much more effective than sending in massive ground troops and then subjecting our troops to gruesome injury and death by IED. Obama has authorized more drone attacks so far than Bush did in his entire presidency. The results speak for themselves.
Regarding Libya, the US as a member of the UN Security Council has the right to help enforce the no fly zone passed by the UN Security Council. Even if this has nothing to do with the UN Security Council, the President has power under the Joint Resolution (which was passed during the Bush administration) to take action against foreign powers who support terror. In case you don’t remember, Gadaffi has perpetrated terror and against the US.
Obama is going to be re-elected. But we all know Republicans are doing everything to hurt Obama. These traitors are even willing to hurt the country to do it.
Mitt Romney is the true flip flop. Obama has been a lot less liberal than many of us hoped but there are still core values he’s still willing to fight for.
So what if his relative got arrested and deported? That shows that justice is still being done in this country. Obama himself didn’t get arrested unlike Bush who got arrested in 1976 for DUI.
Stop baby killers? I’m extremely pro-life. I used to think that was the only redeeming thing about the Bush administration and the GOP dominated Congress at the time. Until my friend pointed out to me if the GOP has wanted to overturn Roe vs Wade and they could have done so when they controlled all 3 branches of the government. But as we all know that didn’t happen.
Welfare has been one of the best things to happen to this country. Its not perfect but overall it has greatly helped the needy.
There is plenty to fight in the drug war without raiding medical marijuana clubs. There is no lack of action to get into on violent drug crimes, smuggling, etc.
So through all this, you don’t even dispute what this article said and yet you have to bring up Obama? Is it because you know what this article says is the truth yet you can’t accept it?
Ignorance, lies, blatant distortion of facts, and hatred are all you people are capable of.

You, know, I find it ironic to see so-called liberals, cheering on the corruption, as long as it’s a democrat who is corrupt.
