ALEC: Puppetmaster for Sarah Palin, Michele Bachmann and Scott Walker
You just knew these three hate clowns were connected, didn’t you?
Sarah Palin, Michele Bachmann and Scott Walker are all Dominionist Christians who share a disdain for education and intelligence, which makes them the perfect puppets for an insidious, evil organization designed to steal democracy from a free country. Think George W Bush and then take away his intelligence and double down on the gut emotions. Yes, take away even what little evidence of intelligence the man may have ever given even the most remote hint of possessing and then strip away any soul he may have given a brief nod to and strip away his breeding until you have a crass, moronic, hate-filled smugster who tells America that God is on their side.
The ALEC puppet, also known as the American Legislative Exchange Council stooge.
To explain:
Karoli at Crooks and Liars wrote of ALEC earlier this week:
ALEC stands for the American Legislative Executive Council, but what it really stands for is corporate conservatives corrupting democracy. As I wrote awhile back, ALEC creates turnkey legislation which is then disseminated to elected officials who are also members via their very secretive organization after it has been approved by corporate members. Only, we really never knew who those corporate members were or who the lawmakers were, either.
According to The Nation, was ALEC, not lame Democrats, who killed the public option.
Reviewing ALEC’s healthcare-related bills and resolutions from the past few years makes it clear that insurers realized early on that the best way to block the profit-threatening provisions of any federal reform would be to attack them at the state level through ALEC. With Democrats in control of both houses of Congress and the White House in 2009, insurers assumed some kind of healthcare reform was inevitable, so they adopted a strategy to shape rather than stop reform. Its top five goals became:
§ Keeping single-payer proposals off the table;
§ Ensuring that the final bill contain a clause requiring all Americans not eligible for an existing federal program to buy coverage from a private insurance company;
§ Preventing the new law from establishing a government-run plan (the “public option”) that would compete with private insurers;
§ Making sure that the reform law is implemented primarily at the state level, to keep the federal government from assuming any significant new oversight of private insurers’ business practices; and
§ Keeping any new regulations and consumer protections to a minimum.
Like any good force of destruction, ALEC works in many fronts at once. Kill healthcare over here, kill unions over there. Shock and awe, baby. While we were in a shocked daze, they were working clandestinely to kill all of the values we hold dear as a representative democracy.
ALEC: Think Scott Walker’s anti-collective bargaining bill.
In These Times writes of ALEC, “An exhaustive analysis of thousands of pages of documents obtained through public records requests from six states, as well as tax filings, lobby reports, legislative drafts and court records, reveal that these suddenly popular anti-public employee bills, while taking different forms from state to state, were indeed disseminated as “model legislation” by ALEC.
Not coincidentally, bills similar to those in Florida and Wisconsin have been introduced in Arizona, California, Illinois, Iowa, Indiana, Kansas, Maine, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, North Carolina, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, Ohio, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Texas, Utah and Vermont.”
Naturally the Koch brothers are involved in ALEC and you know by now when you sniff a Koch, a Palin, Bachmann or Walker is not far behind. The puppets are “Copyright, ALEC”, just as the “model” legislation is marked before it’s sent out to the folks you pay to represent you in DC and at home, in your state government.
The ALEC puppet, brought to you by the GOP, because nothing says democracy like a for sale sign on your back and a corporate logo where your heart is supposed to beat.
Beware the ALEC puppet. They just keep making more of them. We expose one and out comes another soulless monster, with a plastic smile and an empty resume, full of “common sense conservative values.”

This is very scary stuff. Is this even legal? And how did we not hear of ALEC sooner? Just learned from another blogs link that our Governor and one Senator are members–what can we do to show our disapproval?

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! If you revisit one story, make it this one. This really is the disgusting underbelly that needs to be exposed, time and again. I think it goes against everything that IS America..and people may have a hard time grasping that this could happen here. Well, time’s up! It’s happening, and we have to shine a laser light on this…and call out everyone associated with them.This truly, is the unraveling of democracy.

I love all the exposure that ALEC is getting recently. Actvists here in Arizonutz have known about them for quite awhile, especially since King Russell Pearce introduced SB1070 & other destructive.bills that that luckily weren’t passed. ALEC is very scary because their members have ties or crossmembers with FAIR & other eugenicist groups. They are a threat to democracy & will be the destruction of this country if they’re not stopped.
Peace-out
P.S. Why isn’t there an option to share on Facebook?

How did the democrat party allow something like this to take over. They sat back and collected a paycheck without seeing the forrest for the trees. Shame on them.

This rather explains Joe Lieberman’s spiteful, mulish expression as he squashed a provision he himself had proposed only months earlier.As for whether this is legal, in many states it is not. Florida, for example, has the Sunshine Amendment that provides all lawmaking must be done out in the light of day, in plain view of the public, yet it is clear that Rick Scott and his cohorts have been making law in the kind of sewers that would have daunted Jean Valjean. I am certain the same is true elsewhere. The cheated public needs to know of it, but this requires both getting news of this before their eyes on the Internet in every possible way, and making the MSM cover it. That, in turn, means (a) keeping up pressure on the AJ and Congress to go after the Evil Empire, (b) communicating with the White House and Congress that news monopolies be broken up, the public interest be preserved, and the Fairness Doctrine reinstated; (c) telling networks and local channels both we need news, not fluff. I turned on ABC this morning after weeks of only foreign news and flipped it off in disgust at once. I intend to tell them why.

I think 40-50 states have that sunshine law – but it’s a matter of enforcement. I believe that at least one piece of legislation with the ALEC copyright symbol on it was found in emails after a FOIA request in Florida will lead to a suit if there isn’t one already. Do you have word on that?

Made a further search and have not yet uncovered a FOIA action, but it’s clear the Governor is up to both his heads in Sunshine violations.

I think they made a mistake by forcing so much legislation through at one time state by state. They could’ve remained silent had they kept their political outreach a little more limited. Now that they are exposed, how does the common man gain an understanding of this? I have seen this talked about Ed Schultz show, but I doubt you will see it on any of the alphabet soup stations as well as Fox and CNN.
I did not connect Sarah Palin to this group either. I thought she was dumb all by herself. Nor did I connect Scott Walker to the Dominionist’s. Although now that I read about it it does make sense.
I think that ELEC will be making adjustments to their methods now that they are out in the open. This is just another thing that the Democrats had better use against the Republicans in 2012. But I have a funny feeling that they will not.

I think I wrote about Scott Walker’s religious issues a bit in the article on his history of cheating. Interesting connections. Basically, they found a base who wouldn’t care that the puppet was uneducated and willfully ignorant and even unethical and or unlawful and crated this scheme around that – it’s a win win for both and they come together at CNP to feed each other.

I’ve told this one before, but it’s time to expand on it.
Q. A charter liner carrying the Koch Brothers, Grover Norquist, Sarah Palin, Michele Bachman, John Boehner, Eric Cantor, Mitch McConnell, and all the Republican governors in the country plunges into the Sigsbee Deep. Who is saved?
A. The United States of America.
Q. Very good, children! And now, what music is played at their memorial service?
A. The Funeral March of the Marionettes.

As a christian I’m not sure whether to be sad or angry.
None of the Dominionist ideas are christian. It is the opposite of all we know that Christ told us to be. We are not told to impose our beliefs on others, but to confidently, humbly express the truth of Christ.
Palin’s and Bachmann’s dishonesty decalres them unfit for any office. How is God glorified by lies and arrogance? If they truly knew and trusted God, they wouldn’t behave this way, since they would know God is in charge.
This dominionist rubbish sounds like someone with conservative beliefs using them to interpret scripture to suit themselves.

That’s exactly what they are doing, David and obviously, as you point out, their “values” are nothing like those Christ stood for. Yet too many uninformed people are told by their church or family to vote for these folks because they are “Christians”, when in fact, they are old testament fire and brimstone types who claim that God bestows the chosen with money and power. Keep speaking up about the real values that Christ stood for. It’s so important that this movement doesn’t gain more power over the unsuspecting.

The religious groups sponsoring Rick Perry’s “Day of Prayer” in August are connected to the Dominionists. Here’s a link to an article about it:

Perry now thinks he has been called by God to run for President. He is an awful governor and would be a worse president and must be stopped.
