Ann Romney Shops at Costco: Do You People Like Her Now?
Newsflash! Ann Romney announces from one of the couple’s vacation home in New Hampshire that they are running to help those American families who are struggling to make ends meet. You People had her all wrong. Ann gets you, because she shops at Costco and she makes buttermilk pancakes!
Watch the Fox attempt to reintroduce the Romneys to America:
Watch the latest video at video.insider.foxnews.com
Transcript of the “middle class” Romneys discussing Costco from Fox News Sunday:
WALLACE: I also hear from my sources that you have an unhealthy attraction to Costco.
A. ROMNEY: Oh, we both like Costco.
A. ROMNEY: I love Costco.
WALLACE: Why?
A. ROMNEY: It’s great. Are you kidding? Have you ever been to it?
WALLACE: Yeah, I’ve been to a Costco.
A. ROMNEY: I love Costco.
WALLACE: I’m in touch. What are you talking about?
(LAUGHTER)
M. ROMNEY: It’s got great produce.
A. ROMNEY: I know how to shop Costco. You go in the door. Don’t — don’t — I don’t want everyone to learn this trick.
(LAUGHTER) You go in the door, you take a sharp right, and you go way down to the back of the store and just go — just shop the outside of aisles, boom, boom, boom.
M. ROMNEY: She also got me one of these three-packs of shirts the other day from Costco. And they’re…
A. ROMNEY: Yeah.
M. ROMNEY: They’re very nice shirts.
A. ROMNEY: The Kirkland shirts. He’s — he’s wearing them all the time now. I’m like, hey, that’s — that looks — that shirt looks pretty good. I got them — I got them at Costco.
You People need to stop focusing on silly things like Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan’s actual policies that would steal from the middle class and poor so that the very, very rich like Mitt would no longer have to pay any taxes on that pesky capital gains “income” (if, indeed, he pays taxes on it now, which is a matter of some debate, as is the conversion of salary payments into capital gains in order to avoid the higher tax rate).
See, Ann tells us that Mitt and Paul are off to Washington to balance the budget! (Never mind that Ryan never crunched the numbers on his budget because it does not balance the budget until the 2030′s). It’s the all-American Mr. Smith Goes to DC story! Focus on the BUDGET, not the women’s lives stuff, okay, Costco shoppers?
Via Fox, “Well, I think it’s important that the distinction is made that it’s federal funding, it doesn’t mean that there’s not going to be a Planned Parenthood. He and Paul are going to get to Washington and they are going to balance this budget.”
And when you are thinking about that budget, please remember not to crunch the numbers, because budgets are not for You People to understand. Let the grown ups handle these complicated matters.
After all, Mitt Romney is super good at this stuff because of his jobs record at Bain (which you are not allowed to ask questions about), his experience at the Olympics (which you are not allowed to ask questions about and the material has been destroyed), his record as governor (for all practical purposes Romney left after two years mid term when his party lost the election, but you are not allowed to ask questions about this record either and yes, those records were destroyed when the Romney camp left office and took the hard drives with them), and his record at the Mormon church (you should know by now that this is a matter in which Romney prefers to set the narrative, so please don’t ask questions about it, but it is why he won’t show you his tax returns).
But the pancakes!
You People love pancakes, right? Almost as much as you love shopping at Costco!
The Romneys seem to have a wonderful family and a beautiful vacation home in New Hampshire.
It’s heart-warming that they designed their granite kitchen island with a hole in the center so that the grandkids can participate in the kitchen happenings. The thing is, given the immense privilege they both grew up with, they never manage to convey that they understand that this story isn’t exactly relatable to most Americans.
When Mitt Romney was running for Senate, Ann Romney made the mistake of telling an interviewer about the hard times they suffered in college, when they had to live off of Mitt’s father’s stocks:
“We were happy, studying hard. Neither one of us had a job, because Mitt had enough of an investment from stock that we could sell off a little at a time.
The stock came from Mitt’s father. When he took over American Motors, the stock was worth nothing. But he invested Mitt’s birthday money year to year — it wasn’t much, a few thousand, but he put it into American Motors because he believed in himself. Five years later, stock that had been $6 a share was $96 and Mitt cashed it so we could live and pay for education.”
Life can be so cruel. The amount of money they had translates in 2012 dollars to $388,499.06. Of course, I have a hard time believing their families weren’t paying for university, as I attended the same prep school they attended and no one except the scholarship kids needed to worry about college tuition. And while I’m sure having limits on spending was a new thing for Ann Romney, for most Americans having “only” $388,499.06 for rent and food over a four year period wouldn’t exactly be a hardship.
Mrs. Romney was roundly attacked for this 1994 interview, portrayed as a “Daughter of Privilege Knows Little of Real World” by The Herald (as noted in the Wall Street Journal), but growing up in one of the richest counties in the country can make one immune to the real problems facing average Americans. Other choice quotes from that 1994 interview:
“I wasn’t interested in academics till college. I was more interested in riding my horses, and I was extremely athletic. I played field hockey, lacrosse, basketball. I swam, skied, played tennis and even now, I exercise three times a week, aerobics, muscle toning, and I play tennis at Belmont Hill Club.”
“Another son came along 18 months later, although we waited four years to have the third, because Mitt was still in school and we had no income except the stock we were chipping away at. We were living on the edge, not entertaining. No, I did not work. Mitt thought it was important for me to stay home with the children, and I was delighted.”
Living on the edge, I tell you! Only almost $400,000 to sustain them! You People have no idea of the economic hardship Ann has seen.
Most Americans don’t own multiple homes, and while they would love to have a vacation home (or two or three) with car elevators like the Romney’s California home, and stock to sell off when things got tight, right now most Americans are worried about paying an upside down mortgage.
Through the safety of a Fox News interview, we get to see the non-defensive Romneys, promised as they are that no one will ask any questions they don’t want asked. So, really, if You People would stop asking for things like Romney’s record, his taxes and his policies, you might really like King and Queen Romney. Hey, they’ve lived on the edge, babies! Selling stock off like a homeless person cashing in bottles for food!
The pancakes!
The repackaging of Mitt Romney is underway. This Fox interview is just a preview of the “warm and engaging version of Mitt Romney” you are going to meet via his family this week during the Republican National Convention. Even the stage is being carefully designed to lend “warmth” to the Republican candidate’s image, because it’s all about the image.
The trouble for Mitt and Ann is that they can’t handle dissent or questions. Sure, they can play family pancakes for Fox, and use their family to humanize Mitt Romney within the contained structure of the convention, but outside of that bubble, they both have trouble with the press and with questions.
But hey, Ann Romney shops at Costco, so do You People like her now? She’s just like you, only she has never known what living paycheck to paycheck means, she doesn’t understand that some of you don’t have the luxury of the best healthcare to fight family illness as she has had, and she doesn’t understand what gives you the right to dare to ask for their tax returns. Sure, you might not have an Olympic dressage horse that offers you $77,000 in tax write-offs, but don’t hate her because she’s rich and doesn’t care let alone know about your struggles!
You People. Always thinking about yourselves instead of the vacation home pancakes!

This is a ‘vacation’ home.
Note in the background in the little room behind them in the kitchen – There are 4 machines – either 4 washing, or 4 dryers or 2 of each. A VACATION home.
There are many who would like to have a single washer and dryer in their ‘primary’ home – the only one they have.

My husband and I noticed the same thing regarding the washers/dryers whatever they were. And the thing that really struck us was THE LIGHT IN THAT ROOM WAS ON! If I had a clue about what being middle or lower class was and I or a spouse was running for office, I would have turned off the light and shut the door. Seriously. And by the way, I have NEVER seen dress shirts at Costco in a pack of three. Maybe neither of us is paying attention, but according to the rest of the net, neither is the rest of the country.

Because the Romneys claim to like pancakes and Costco, we are supposed to like them now?!? Sorry, but even if true (the Romneys seem to have trouble telling the truth), liking those two things do not make them more likable.
I am curious to see the stage at the RNC; the description of all those wood framed TV screens doesn’t sound “warm and engaging” to me. It sounds more like Big Brother from “1984″ to me.

So far they think we are stupid. We people really get them. They aren’t like us. We don’t have a problem with them being rich. I want to see his income tax forms. We have a right to know how he will change the tax code. I have a strong feeling he doesn’t really care for “we people”.
Sally
Aug. 26th, 2012 at 7:27 pm
He and Paul will change the tax code to make sure those losers who don’t earn enough to pay fed taxes, but pay plenty of payroll taxes if they are working, are doing their fair share by putting up the money they will then
use to give themselves more cuts. I mean, I think Romney would be perfectly happy paying nothing, while benefitting from living in America. The gall of the GOP to call patriots. Patriots know that we are all in this together, that we are stronger when everyone siucceeds, and that the poor are not poor because it’s super fun living on minimum wage, asking for food stamps, and visiting food banks. They must be so happy trying to survive. Mitt has not known one day of hardship in his sorry life. Not one.
And what is it with a ‘hole in the island
for the grandkids…what do they do, stick them in there for time out?

Can you see her working the WH garden with a bunch of DC kids around? I;m sure she’s make a little speech and then hand off the spade to the hired help. Obama needs to gather all the cool photos os him with adoring kids and make a big video for the convention. The man connects with people, having worked for them and with them his whole life. The only people Mitt admits helping are some parishioners when he was a Mormon pastor..and has anyone every seen a poor Mormon? I;m sure he helped them decide which investment scheme hid the most money.

Mittens in a Kirkland shirt for the camera…bless his little heart. (I can’t wait for Stephan Colbert to show up at the GOP convention in his “Costco”!)
This whole thing stinks; Costco usually gets ya’ about #100.00+ a pop every time you go in the door and, you have to pay “cash” or Amex, and, they are usually found in the ‘burbs (what public bus line?). If you have a food stamp “swipe card” you can shop there as long as you pay the yearly fee…
It ain’t cheap to go there…
Ann only proved to us that she’s a town and country shopper-wife; one who can tell the help to unload the SUV (and don’t scratch the Escalde, Maria!), put away the produce and prepare her counter so she can “entertain” the grand children with her pancake mixing skills.
This stinks…peeeuwww!

I don’t shop at Costco because I prefer to shop at locally owned businesses and I like my produce fresh. When we lived in the Detroit area, the super wealthy from Bloomfield Hills flocked to the nearest Costco for just about everything. It seriously hurt small specialty shops that were locally owned. At the time that fact bothered me a lot. These were the same people who voted down a very modest local millage for public transportation. As a result of that their servants had to find their own transportation to and from the last bus stop in Birmingham as they went from their homes in Detroit to the mansions and country clubs in Bloomfield Hills to serve the wealthy. Similarly the Bloomfield HIlls wealthy crowd voted down a modest millage increase for the nearby public library that they used. Rich people don’t need libraries. Ann Romney shops at Costco just like the excessively rich do everywhere in this country.
Among other things that I do not like about the Romneys, I dislike their condescending attitude and their paltry attempts to be just like everybody else. I would never hide wealth overseas to avoid paying taxes here and I would never own a business whose sole purpose is to strip other businesses of their assets.

Oh, it’s much worse than that – her horses are worth *MUCH* more than $70k. The quoted $77k number is the *yearly expense* incurred by *one* horse that they were able to write off as a business expense on their federal taxes! Each of these horses is surely worth well into six figures.

Anne Romney is simply clueless. Until she has spent say, 90 days without her credit and cash card and is limited to about a thousand dollars only for the entire month, she will never understand. She would have to figure out housing, food, utilities and medicine as well as how she will commute. No trips to the Salon, no shopping sprees, no driver or fancy cars nor could she reside in one of her many mansions or with any of her family or friends. Oh, and she should have to hold a job that pays minimum wage, working no less than 40 hrs a week preferably in a busy hotel as part of the cleaning staff.
This will never happen because folks like her have no desire to learn about reality as they themselves have never experienced it.

They don’t have any ‘help’ supposedly. Probably because they are concerned that someone will tell the rest of us how the Romneys really live. Or they are afraid the ‘help’ would find those tax returns and
show the rest of the world. Of course, at their vacation home, anyway, the five sons and their wives and 18 kids do the work…I mean, there’s a chore chart for the adults!

This is the same kind of answer many “rich and fab” women give when you ask a the question “incorrectly”. The question about “the help” wasn’t asked correctly.
You see, I once asked a few of these “ladies” how much time the spent in the gym because they were so “buffed” and “fabulous, darhling…” and their reply was “Oh, I don’t go to the gym. I just go to a yoga class” (tinkling laughter). I didn’t ask the question correctly.
It seems the all had personal trainers, Pilates tables, massage therapist, etc. who came to their home (ahhh). Of course, they never went to one of those “gyms” with “you people”. If Wallace had asked who did her gardening, landscaping, towels and all the dishes from entertaining, she would have asked her executive house keeper to inform Wallace in private (so he could use the same services)…you have to ask “The Ann” the question correctly.

The other thing that cracked me up was them living off the ‘few thousand’ a year Mitt’s father was able to sock away for him for birthday presents. Yep, my kids could’ve lived well in college if I’d had a few thousand a year to give each of them on their birthdays. Once more, a HUGE disconnect from what real people deal with.
Sally

Yes, I found that interesting too. A few thousand a year? AND teh kid was already costing $20,000 at Cranbrook. So the lath and whatever guy somehow made a fortune between his arrival in America and his becoming Governor. The difference is, George was proid to pay his taxes, and never cheated to make more money than a man can spend in 6 lifetimes.

Don’t look now, Ann Romney but Costco is notorious for selling GMO and Pink Slime before it was taken off the shelf. (apparently-we’re not sure).
Costco also import Chicken Jerky that has killed dogs, hope you don’t have a dog now. But then again, Mitt’s donor Eldon Roth, who owned Beef Products Inc., is one of your hubby’s big time donors. You’d think with 23 million income annually, you could take a shot at healthier food.

Don’t forget public transportation, Christy… she’d have to take the city bus to and from her minimum wage hotel maid job, sitting next to old people, disabled people, people of color, smelly construction workers, angry students, mothers with crying babies whose diapers need to be changed… Yeah, Queen Ann thinks shopping in Costco brings her down level with the ordinary people… she has no idea.

I’ve observed “The Ann” types picking up “the help” in shopping centers from bus lines that come close to their rich ‘burbs…in their Mercedes sports cars.
(it’s really hard for some of the “help” to get all their bags and bodies into those little cars…)
It’s a variation on the theme of picking up the day work in front of Home Depot…it goes on every day.

Ann Romney is so clueless that she’s pathetic (and I mean I really do feel a little sorry for her – but I still despise her and her husband). Does she REALLY think we’d be impressed by where she shops, or that she makes pancakes? Making pancakes is nothing. I could do that back when I was a little kid (like 5 or 6), and sometimes did (from “scratch” too). I was making homemade bread (had a killer sourdough French bread) and could plan and cook complete meals by the time I was a teen – came in real handy when we were out camping or hunting.
I’d ask her how many times a week she eats out or gets “to go” (or even does “microwave meals”). I’d bet that she only cooks to “impress” people.
My wife or I cook nearly every meal (I guess we could even say “from scratch”), so welcome to the real world, Anne. How about making your own bread – and not in a “bread machine” either? Growing your own food – we’ve done that, many times. Caught and prepared our own wild game too – fish, rabbits, squirrels, you name it. For us, eating out at Denny’s or anyplace else for that matter is a rare treat – cooking is plain Jane everyday. Cooking pancakes is not in the least impressive. Big whoop.
I’d say to Anne “If you could butcher your own hogs (or large wild game) and prepare them clear to the table, then maybe I’d be a tiny bit impressed – my own mother could do that – but she also cares about people and tries to make a positive difference in this world!”

You know Costco is a great place to shop if you have a very large family (and they all eat the same things), own a restaurant or need to stockpile food. They move from house to house so fast that the big quantities they’re buying at Costco would spoil in a heartbeat. This story is hogwash.

I thin k there is a little more to it than that. Who mooched off the government for an education? The people who get government loans to go to college? They are moochers?
Those “moochers” are most of the kids that go to college.

Whether or not she shops at Costco or Sax Fifth Avenue is neither here nor there. Mitt Romney is a pathological liar who hides money in the Cayman Islands (where no questions are asked and that’s why drug dealers and tax evaders stash money there), Swiss bank accounts (why, Bank of America isn’t crooked enough for you?), investments in Iranian oil (left that little tidbit out when he was in Israel, humm, how convenient) had all the hard drives erased when he left his office as Governor of the state of Michigan (something to hide) and now refuse to disclose his personal income tax forms for the last five years (yet, readily gave McCain’s campaign 23 years worth of back taxes) and this media and family wants us to BELIEVE this man can be trusted? Based on Ann Romney shopping at Costco?
It’s time for the media to start asking the hard questions or sign up to write for the Enquirer. Why would we trust somebody to oversee tax reform when he finds every way but lose to evade them? Why would trust somebody who outsourced jobs to create jobs here? Most importantly, why should we trust him or anybody else who would do anything to be elected, that kowtows to the racists in his own party, if that’s what it takes?
No, Miss Ann, it’s not your wealth that matters. It’s what you value. When a man like Romney, who has proven time and time again he has no allegiance to nothing or nobody and prefers photo opts to actual work, then, no, he can’t be trusted on any level to run this country. Like the old saying goes, “I hate a liar as much as a thief” and with Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan, you have both.
Annette

If someone is “hiding money in the Cayman’s” why is this information listed in his tax return documents; what a silly thing to say. Hiding something is when you have otherwise obtainable information that you have taken the time to have “sealed” from anyone ever seeing it and not accessible via a subpoena or request. Think about what you say before saying it, does it make sense??

Honestly? I think if there is a civil war it will happen during the first 100 days of RobMe’s tenure should he win the WH, because those who did not vote for him will be subjected to those issues they tried in vain to avoid by reelecting Obama and because those who did vote for RobMe will realize, too late, Obama and the democrats were terribly right all along.

Cracks me up that they are so far removed, they don’t even realize they are promoting a company that is supporting the Obama campaign…hahahahahaha! That is truly priceless. The R2 campaign is a joke as is this farce of a “news” story…the so-called media should be ashamed of themselves, but Fox News isn’t really a true media outlet. A true journalist, and media outlet would be asking the hard questions, and would NEVER sacrifice integrity for a “story” about pancakes, vacation homes, and what kind of shirt RobMe is wearing…no one believes this crap and the voters will let their voices be heard!

Why is it that you don’t also mock Michele Obama who clearly had to tell photographers to meet her at Target for a photo op, yet she is seen in $7,500 jackets – such hypocrisy for the O-lovers! Or that the kiss cam at the basketball game had to be ordered to come back around again so it could give the Obama’s another chance at an “impromptu” photo op- Please- the real posers are the current occupants of the White House. If you want to talk about off-shore accounts and tax returns then you should also want to talk about Obama’s college transcripts which prior Presidents had their grades known but not Mr. Transparent Obama. How is it that Mr. George Clooney and Mr. George Soros escape your jealousy of the Millions and Billions they have, yet a Republican that has worked in numerous jobs/companies is mocked for having wealth as well? Where is the outrage at them and the did you know that 70% of the top wealthiest congress members are Democrats? So keep portraying the Republicans as rich and out of touch, but the real Republicans are middle class Americans, single women as well. Oh, by the way, when was the last time Obama visited Harlem, and innercities of Chicago if he cares so much for the poor and middle class? Unfortunately only one candidate continually visits Beverly Hills and the rich Martha’s Vineyard -and it isn’t Romney. If Obama cared so much about the budget – wanting to go line by line to eliminate the waste, how is it that he hasn’t met for serious discussions with either the Republicans or Democrats in Congress in over a year? If you want a leader willing to work to get gov’t spending in control and bringing jobs to America, then vote Romney. 3 years of over 8% unemployment with true under/unemployment in 16% range and worse for Black Americans & their teenagers, deteriorating wealth, higher healthcare costs, and more foreclosures – vote Obama.

Great innuendo post.
GWB never released his grades.
Do you have proof Ms Obama had to tell reporters to meet her at Target?
What do off-shore accounts and tax returns have to do with grades?
Soros gives his money in the open. He doesnt hide like the Koch and Romneys overseas lenders.
You are simply hilarious! Thanks, I enjoyed it
BTW, Obamacares will reduce healthcare costs, its not even implemented yet. The wealth for the 1% has shot up. The wealth for the middle class has been dropping since Reagan the great traitor was in office.

George W. Bush
Medical records: President George W. Bush allowed the media to view about 400 pages of personal medical information in 2000 and again in 2004.
Birth certificate: While the Texas State Library and Archives Commission lists a birth certificate for George W. Bush among its records, the document has not been posted online.
Bush basic training photo, 1968 (photo: Department of Defense)
Military and personal records: The White House released Bush’s complete military records in 2004. News reporters lined up at the White House press office as workers distributed copies of his files, the New York Times reported. Those documents included the following personal information:
Bush had his tonsils removed when he was a young boy and suffered from appendicitis at the age of 10
At 14, he had surgery to remove a cyst from his chest.
When he applied for the National Guard, he had a hemorrhoid
Bush had two ”negligent collisions” in the month after he turned 16 in July 1962
He was issued two speeding tickets in the summer of 1964 and was fined $10 each
He was charged with a misdemeanor for a Yale prank in 1966, but it was later dropped
Bush received a score of 25 on his January 1968 pilot aptitude test. A score of 95 percent is considered “officer quality.”
He obtained a secret security clearance during his service
George W. Bush’s record of service in the National Guard, including payroll and personnel reports, flight records and photos, is available through the Department of Defense.
George W. Bush arrest record
Arrest record: The media also released copies of Bush’s arrest record, including one 1976 incident in which he was charged for driving under the influence of alcohol when he was 30 years old. Reports included a summary of his DUI conviction from the Maine Department of Motor Vehicles.
College records: Bush’s campaign posted a copy of his Yale transcript online. The Washington Post obtained his SAT scor

So F’ing what?
Look what that silly bastard did to this country. Look at the financial mess that he left for President Obama. Look at the suffering and misery he and his fellow Republicans caused!
He was a liar and worse. Just as they are.
I can go off topic too… but what does Bush have to do with Anne Romney? NOTHING. We’re talking about the Romneys and how they play bullshit games (same as Bush did, especially AFTER he was elected). The damned Romneys are so out of touch that they are clueless… they probably actually think these stupid attempts to con ordinary people out of their votes (and their futures) work! Well, those who have been brainwashed might vote for them, but those who still have a little critical thinking skill left – no way.
The only hope Romney has to win legally is for the national media to keep ignoring (no – covering up) the real problems with his candidacy (such as not releasing his tax information, his constant lying, etc.) and get people so hooked into “Reality TV” (or whatever) that they forget that their lives hinge on how they vote – and that there are more important things than the next episode. I admit that’s a real possibility, because people are not learning the truth about Romney that we find here (and it’s documented).

Posted more than just his transcript (go to wnd and you will see Bush sr, clinton, kerry, mccain, etc) if you want to see more. Yes, Bush was arrested too so I posted that as well as his medical records, etc. and he did release his Yale transcript. Point is Pres Obama ran on “transparency” and is anything but – ever wonder what happened that he had to relinquish his law license? why the press has been able to obtain college records and leaked SAT scores for everyone else but Pres. Obama and why the press doesn’t go near asking about his law license? Bush was by no means perfect, but at least the Press vetted him and asked questions, not so with Pres. Obama. Oh, and healthcare costs have gone up already due to Obamacare even though full impact of law hasn’t hit yet.

Working moms that can only afford to buy the exact number of cat and dog food cans to last the week, same with TP Paper, milk, bread, cereal etc don’t shop at Costco. Maybe, for the office birthday cake when a group collection is paying for it.
I just can’t relate to a rich woman bragging that she knows how to shop at Costco. Why would a rich woman who is sick refuse help?

Nope. She could shop anywhere she wants to but probably doesn’t even do that – her servants do. This is obviously a PR scam like Willard Mitty’s photo op trip to the grocery and hardware stores. If she actually DOES shop at Costco it makes me dislike her more because that means she’s a penny pinching miser.

This interview is a plan to make Mittens look more down to earth, warm and fuzzy…he has to look this way when he gives his speech at the convention. His PR team took a poll and decided the Romney klan desperately needed make-over so that everyone’s hearts will “open” and, the little people of the kingdom will love their new King…
They did the same thing with Palin, the actress. They put her through wardrobe and make up, gave her her lines to memorize, did a big build up for the folksy “hockey mom” etc. because all the prior weeks of exposure revealed her as a illiterate mess. Watch or re-watch “Game Change”.
This is just business as usual…

Most Republicans shop at Sam’s Club, not Cost-co. This will only make him look more moderste. I do like the plug for Costco though. It is a superior company that treats its customers well and most of their products are American made. Don’t tell the Wrongney chumos though. They don’t need any good advice.

They treat their employees well, too. That’s why my husband’s friend, a Rush Limbaugh loving stockbroker, didn’t like Costco as an investment — not enough dividends and too much given to the loyal workers.
I do question whether most products are American-made, however. Plenty of Chinese products at Costco but that is true everywhere. At least Costco cares about quality and a decent break for the customer, sticking to a low mark-up.
Isn’t the Costco founder (now retired) going to be at the Democratic Convention?

I also thought Ann’s little sneaky not wanting to tell the world her “secret” way to shop Costco as lame…..give me a break, she was coached to say that to seem like she was a savvy thrifty money saving shopper. Like she gives a shit about saving money, well all except tax evasion. Plus she wasn’t even generous enough to teach others.

Many years ago I spent an evening with Ann and Mitt in their Belmont home. It was after he ran for the senate but prior to rescuing the Olympics. Let me just say, this couple was just as warm and interested in me as they were with anyone else in the room. They have both done a ton of unpaid service for their religion, state and other organizations. I have run into Ann at ordinary stores – doing her errands just like anyone else.
Someone commented that you wouldn’t find Ann in the garden like Michelle….no, I don’t think that Ann doesn’t like to garden but she does think an awful lot of the youth and has donated years towards the at risk youth in Boston.
Someone once told me that if you want to be rich, do what rich people do. Rich people are penny pinchers. That is how they got rich. They are very careful with their money. Is that bad? I don’t think so at all. It shows that the Mitt Romney has great financial skills. It that is so, wouldn’t you want a President that handles your tax dollars with the same kind of care?

I saw the documentary on the Romneys the other night and after Mitt failed a couple of times in his bid for President, Ann told him never again would they go through this. She didn’t make him run after Bush and we were in terrible shape, but when Obama gets into office, she goes to Mitt and tells him he can win against this guy? Why? To be an international businessman, her husband has trouble making a complete sentence and will lie and evade in a heartbeat. Mitt said he didn’t want to take over the Utah Olympics, but Ann called and told him to do it. Who is running for Office? Chances are Ann illness will worsen, Mitt will be useless, and Ryan will take over.

I was at Costco at 5:00 last Friday. I saw frazzled mothers, checking their watches and worrying about getting their kids from school or day care, rushing to do their shopping for the weekend because their work never ends. Literally. It NEVER ends.
They were stressed, they were counting every penny. They were balancing whether they could afford a treat of a package of chocolate chip cookies if their kids still needed notebooks for school next week. They were desperate. They were exhausted.
They were also worrying about paying for vaccinations and school books and health care and mortgages and gasoline.
They were worrying about things that Mitt and Ann disdain.
I don’t care that Mitt played at wearing Costco shirts. I see plenty of people at my middle class Costco who weigh buying shirts over frozen vegetables in a given week.

She must have run across a “Romney special” at Costco.
I’ve shopped at my local NJ Costco for the 16 years since it opened. I’ve never seen a 3-pack of shirts, pants, shoes, or anything except underwear. Maybe she was referring to his Jockey T’s–or maybe some advisor just made the whole thing up.

Um, “three pack of shirts”.
At Costco?
I’ve been to several Costcos and I’ve NEVER seen “three packs of shirts”. Socks and underpants (not special underpants, but underpants) is the closest you’ll see to a “three pack”.
Or is there a special Costco that sells bulk clothing?
Sorry, don’t believe the attempt by the Romney’s to sound like they are just ‘regular folk’.

The design of the kitchen is truly telling. The island has a closed circle in the middle which Ann tells us is there to contain the grandchildren, incarcerate them. The idea of that island is horrific.
Then Ann has a stern look towards son telling us that Daddy has to feed his older greedy ass first before the grandchildren. I have never in my life encountered a situation where the children do not get fed first. Ann, looks at son with such a critical look.
Of course, Mitt tells us how he manages his family with order and structure. The Mormon pater familias will manage America in this same way. And you better love pancakes, only real Americans love pancakes.

The three Costco’s in my area in Southern California do not sell dress shirts 3 in a pack as the Romney’s Costco do. In fact I have never found 3 dress shirts in a pack in any of the Costco’s that I have been to. I have purchased under shirts with 3 in a pack. Apparently neither “these people” nor their cynical handlers understand that simply saying nothing would have been far better than condescendingly pandering to the electorate with inauthentic tales of thrift.
I wonder which of her “several Cadillacs” Ann took to Costco, from which of her six estates? Did she sport that fiery custom-designed Oscar de la Renta dress on her shopping jaunt? What a load of baloney. Could they really think we’re that gullible?
