Donor Claims Ann Romney Says Democrats Have Less Class Than Her Horse’s Hoof
So. Let me ask you if you would be embarrassed and if you think the Right would be outraged if Michelle Obama said, “Our dog has more style and class in its paw than Republicans do in their whole deal.”
Is this the way you’d like your First Lady to speak of the opposition party? It’s contemptuous of half of the country, and if Michelle Obama compared Republicans unfavorably to the family dog (cute as Bo is), we wouldn’t adore her as we do. It’s just unbecoming, ungracious, and really mean-girl ugly.
Here’s what we’re told by a Romney champion and mega donor that Ann Romney allegedly said about Democrats:
“My horse has more style and more class in its hoof than they (Democrats) do in their whole deal.”
The full quote is:
Both sisters wear gold Eagle pins on their lapels, identifying them as Romney mega-donors, and a stack of VIP credentials around their necks. At the convention, they could be seen bickering outside exclusive donor powwows (“Don’t be upset,” Georgette pleaded with Lyn outside a brunch organized by billionaire Paul Singer. “It was an honest mistake.”) or giddily relaying how Ann Romney, for whom Georgette has served on the host committee for several fundraisers in New York, privately reacted to Democratic attacks on her dressage-competing mare. (“My horse has more style and more class in its hoof than they do in their whole deal,” Lyn recounts.)
It’s unclear if she means all Democrats, but she doesn’t exclude any. Class is defined informally as “of high quality, integrity, status, or style.” Is Ann saying Democrats have no quality, integrity, status or style?
We’d like to know if this is really how Ann feels. Did she say this, or are her friends Lyn Paulsin and Georgette Mosbacher telling fibs? The sisters, by the way, are Romney mega donors who were at the RNC this year as they have been for the last 7 years. Lyn, who retold the Ann quote, also dated Rush Limbaugh. These are not partisan hacks retelling a gotcha story about Ann Romney. Rather, it appears to be yet another crack in the glass ceiling between the haves and the have nots. I’m sure they figured everyone feels like they do, so what’s the harm in sharing Ann’s delicious, if unbecoming (but who cares), take down of Democrats.
The background here is that the Democratic National Committee promised not to use Ann Romney’s horse in their attacks anymore, because she claimed the Olympic dressage horse was helping her with her MS and therefor should be immune to criticism. As usual, the Democrats fell for that and complied, earning nothing but scorn from herself.
The Democratic National Committee used Ann Romney’s dressage horse, Rafalca, in a Web ad over the summer, but quickly pledged to no longer “invoke the horse” out of desire to not offend her.
No one asked Mrs. Romney if her horse is therapy, what does she tell other Americans with MS who can’t afford to send a dressage horse to the Olympics? Oh, no, they just backed away lest Ann Romney take umbrage again. No matter – she still hates them. You can’t appease the mean girl. If she hates you and thinks you’re worthless, well it doesn’t matter how many times you do her homework – she’s still going to make fun of you in the hallway.
If Michelle Obama said Republicans didn’t have the class Bo had in his paw, would Americans be offended? If so, what makes it alright for Ann Romney to disparage half of the country and does she really feel this way? Does she really think that all Democrats have no class or style?
That sounds about Romney, mimicking as it does her husband’s sentiments about “Obama voters” being victims and writing off 47% of the country as takers. What’s with all of the hate, Romneys? If it didn’t sound so much like the Ann we’ve come to know (and indeed, the Ann we heard last night), we’d be a bit more hesitant.
Mrs. Romney should clear this up, because the article leaves voters thinking that she disparaged all Democrats as having no class or style. She either said it and means it or she didn’t say it and her friends mischaracterized her statements to the Washington Post, in which case a renouncement of this comment is due to the voters.
And someone might want to explain to the Romneys that what they say matters and they will be held accountable for it. That is, after all, part of the job of President and First Lady. Language and diplomacy (or lack thereof) matter. Both Mitt and Ann have shown little to no comprehension of the age they are campaigning in, let alone the ability to stifle their meaner impulses for their public image.

If Michelle said ANYTHING remotely like this, Rush would blow a gasket, Hannity and O”Reilly would be saying “I told you the Obamas didn’t belong in the WH,” and the rightwing would never let this drop. It would be in commericals, on bumper stickers, and everywhere (think how often you still hear about “I am so proud of my country right now.”) But since it’s rich white Lady Romney, I bet she never has to explain. Not that she can. These two are spoiled to the rotten core. Every day a lottle more of the rotten insides comes to the surface and erupts.

Romney’s are both of the same bubble! Mean girl & mean frat boy come to mind with these two. Mitt will bring more gridlock with his disdainful attitude.
American people don’t like phonies & people who cheat & are pompous as well. This is not a good combination for any leader never mind the POTUS!

I feel she has been out of touch with the world I mean the real world, she leads a life of comfort and
I don’t blame her for that, but don’t speak about you have no Idea of, just think when the love of your life loses you can live and enjoy your lifestyle again.

There is an old German term of abuse, *Hundspfott*, dog’s paw, for anyone vile and disgusting. It was not considered fit for mixed company, because it was perilously close to another too vile to print here. Nonetheless, the Romney attitude towards us ewepeople is truly *hundspfottig*.

It might be time to be a little bit politic when it comes to Ann Romney, multiple sclerosis is not a kind illness en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mul....
Mitt Romney in his classless fashion seems to have strapped his wife to the roof of his political campaign regardless of her ability as a result of illness to sustain.
Better to stick it to Mitt Romney for his callous disregard for his wife suffering and allow her a far more dignified withdrawal from politics.
Someone in the Republicans needs to show some empathy and give Ann Romney the opportunity to quietly withdraw from public preview.
Mitt you dick, get your wife off the roof of your campaign and stop trying to use her.

Ann Romney, I am sure, was never sweet or kindly to ewepeople. Nonetheless, you are right: under the circumstances, Mitt should take her off the roof.

Yes, MS can be very cruel; however, the older you are when you are diagnosed, the easier it generally is. Ann Romney was diagnosed at 48; I was diagnosed at 41. Her doctors say she leads a normal life; I do, too. I wouldn’t wish for people to get any disease, but it can be an absolutely exhausting one, and she seems extremely active (plus, I take her doctors’ words for it).

I followed that link. If Georgette is an example of Ann Romney’s friends, then we’re looking at a clique of truly mean, snobbish harpies. As for Lyn, I’d peg her as never having gotten over a childhood where her sister could do no wrong and she experienced constant sibling abuse.

Is she really taking about the Des or is she indeed speaking of her own party, the GOP? I suspect that her and Mitt think that if they want soehting, they either just take it or do what ever they have to get it. They are finding that they are not entitled to the Presidency and to get there they must 1st, walk the walk and talk the talk. They have patience for neither! And show an intolerence for those that stand in their way! Just her facial features and expressions are enough to scare the Hell out of you! Nothing sweet and humble in that face! She looks mean, looks down on people, and has so little grace to pull from. I am very conveinced that she is of some other place in time, that is not here and now! Her and Mitt need to wake up and smell the roses. if the campaign is so hard on them, can you iagine what the Presidency will do to them?

If PoliticusUSA is “slipping on the standards” by sourcing them, whom should they source instead? Drudge? Rush Limpballs? Fox?

When Mitt pays his taxes and returns the money’s that the rest of us paid to cover dozens of bankruptcy’s and refund the retirement accounts he raided than he and his “little lady” can have an opinion about the rest of us.

I’m not going to hold this against this lady. Who hasn’t sat around with a couple friends and talked I’ll of ones enemies. While I have nothing personal against the Romneys, I don’t imagine they’d be my cup of tea. Yes they are my “enemy, just as the Baltimore Ravens are my “enemy”. I’ve said really inconsiderate stuff about republicans. I can’t say I have any room to complain about something that wasn’t meant for our ears. What do we expect from the opposition? No biggie.

I’m happy to know that on the Romney class scale,so many Americans – Democrats, elderly, children, veterans, etc., are worth less than animals.
Maybe Mitt and his beautiful wife can convince the Olympic committee to start a new game where humans owned by other humans are used competively against each other. Perhaps they would then at least see some sort of profit from us worthless ones (and teach us a little class to boot).

They used to call such people gladiators. I would add that it was common to sew the foreskins of the male ones and (until they were abolished) the labia of the female ones almost closed, because it was thought they fought more fiercely when sexually frustrated. There is a theory that Jews of that era went from token to full circumcision to prevent their young men from being impressed as gladiators.

Only one thing needs to be said…get out and vote. Get your friends to the polls. Get your family to the polls. Get your neighbors to the polls.
These people don’t just need to lose…they need to get beaten so bad along with their cohorts in Congress…that they might finally get the message…. stop treating the vast majority of Americans like second class citizens. Stop voting against bills for our military veterans. Stop hiding your money outside the country. Stop pretending like paying 9% income tax on wealth of over 100 million even comes close to working class Americans who pay 25%.
These two need to lose and they need to lose badly. The vote is the only thing that can make that happen. Send Ann Romney packing with a horse hoof on her face.
Well, another one.

I’ve noticed that bountiful wealth has a side-effect: The people who have always had wealth or are married into it early in their adult lives seem to have stunted personalities because they’ve experienced far less hardship than have “us groundlings”. Ann Romney has experienced hardship, but she doesn’t seem to have managed to connect her own experience with that of the wider population. She’s not representative of us, because she’s not one of us.

If you saw Anne’s horse perform at the Olympics, you’d probably agree that most Americans fall short of Rafalca’s performance. In particular, Rafalca has more style and class than either Anne or Mitt Romney. That she said “my horse” instead of the animal’s name, or that she is only a part owner, shows her relationship with what her money buys. She accessorizes. Period.

She is undoubtedly the most arrogant piece of work to come down the road in a long time. I can actually understand why her husband might be concerned people would “get tired of her.” You know, when Mrs. Louis XIV (Marie Antoinette) was accused of not caring about the French citizens because she was spending money all over on frivolous what nots while the people of France starved, she said, “Let them eat cake.” They pulled her out of her pretty palace and cut off her head. Has she been reincarnated as Mrs. Mittens? One wonders.

It didn’t take much for her to wear out her welcome with her ignorant, arrogant remarks and her defensive stance about her husband’s campaign, which shows that the Romney’s can dish it out but can’t take it. Both of them are lacking in empathy, manners, common decency, or common sense, not to mention class. These character flaws, which are irredeemable in folks now in their 60′s, show themselves more the more these elitist jackasses undergo public scrutiny.

Maybe Ann is doing all she can do, given her other accessory–her color-changing Mittens. Lots of others have run, but Ann–by choice or necessity–stays. I’m not theorizing. But I do know this–while there is a certain amount of gossippy feel to this, where there’s smoke, one has to at least carry a bucket of water, just in case. Just thinkin’….now let’s vote for Obama/Biden and get this country moving.
