Ahead of Biden Debate Romney Camp Freaks Out when Paul Ryan is Asked About Tax Cuts
The Romney campaign threw a fit tonight and cut off an interview when a local reporter asked Paul Ryan a tax cut question. If Ryan can’t handle the local media, how will he deal with Joe Biden?
When Paul Ryan was pressed by a local Michigan reporter about how his tax cut would reduce violent crime, his Romney campaign handlers immediately jumped in and ended the interview.
Here is the video:
Here is the exchange that got the interview cut off:
Ryan: The best thing to help prevent violent crime in the inner cities is to bring opportunity in the inner cities. Is to help teach people good discipline, good character. That is civil society. That is what charities and civic groups and churches do to help one another make sure that they can realize the value in one another.
ABC 12: And you can do all that by cutting taxes? With a big tax cut?
Ryan: Those are your words not mine.
Boom, just like that, Ryan’s Romney campaign handlers jumped in and put an end to the interview. As Ryan was taking his microphone off the Romney aide said, “That was kinda strange, you trying to stuff words in people’s mouths?”
The Romney campaign then put out a statement blaming the reporter for asking the question, “The reporter knew he was already well over the allotted time for the interview when he decided to ask a weird question relating gun violence to tax cuts. Ryan responded as anyone would in such a strange situation. When you do nearly 200 interviews in a couple months, eventually you’re going to see a local reporter embarrass himself.”
What was so embarrassing about the question? Ryan didn’t say how he and Mitt Romney could accomplish reducing violent crime. If the reporter was wrong, the campaign could have let Ryan clarify. By their thin skinned overreaction, the Romney campaign turned a minor moment into a big deal, and possibly showcased their pre-vp debate jitters.
Paul Ryan is supposed to be the genius boy wonder, “numbers guy,” but they won’t let him set the record straight with a local reporter?
The Romney campaign knows that they are lying about their $5 trillion tax cut, and now they are trying to silence anyone who asked for specifics. Make no mistake about it, the local reporter was digging for specifics. By asking the question the way he did, he was trying to get Ryan to give details, but the Romney campaign was not about to let that happen.
If the Romney campaign won’t let Paul Ryan handle a question from a local reporter in Michigan, how do they expect him to debate Vice President Biden on Thursday night?
Republicans want to think that Romney and Ryan are winning this election, but the behavior of this campaign reeks of a ticket that knows they are still losing.

I look forward to Vice President Biden chewing this little twerp up. What a baby…puffs out his tiny chest to blast the middle class and poor but has to run away from a reporter’s question. The only people who embarrassed themselves were Ryan and his “handlers”.

They do seem afraid of making any mistakes or letting “facts” get in the way. Running a scared sh*tless campaign.

Ryan political career is on the brink of destruction. His 1st mistake was allowing himself to become a VP pick. Loosing boththe seat in WI, then the white house will put him in a different ball game and one he has no idea how to compete. Guess he can live off the company “GREEN BUSINESS” and the 20 million in stimulus. Or his wife’s trust. Too funny! He is one lazy individual with no tact just like Mitt the mullet! Old fish stink and they are both full of maggots!

It was a bit of an odd question, but if Ryan had two working brain cells, maybe he could have come up with some sort of actual answer–he is trying to be Vice President, for Pete’s sake.

Oh, he has one; it’s the same as Mitt’s:

If Ryan takes Rmoney’s debate “style” it won’t matter. He’ll avoid questions, lie through his teeth, and stomp all over the moderator. Not debate, not really… more like a manic hissy fit.

Ahead of Biden Debate Romney Camp Freaks Out when Paul Ryan is Asked About Tax Cuts
At :08 in the above clip, Ryan says the following:
“I don’t even think President Obama is proposing more gun laws.”
And just last month, Ryan slipped and said he’d eliminate tax shelters — like the ones used by Romney:

Tell the truth, Paul — you’re secretly working for the Obama Campaign, aren’t ya. ;^)>

It was an oddly placed question and I don’t agree with how it was introduced, but the Romney-Ryan campaign have to learn how to behave like international level politicians. That question have been diffused in a number of different ways, but Ryan came off like a schoolboy who has been caught about to sneak some dime store candy in his pocket. “Oh, no I wasn’t going to do that. Gotta leave now.”
When I see things like this and Ann Romney whining about how other Republicans are being mean to her husband because his campaign is performing poorly, you have to wonder how either of these schmucks could possibly handle someone who won’t back down, like Putin or Chavez. These guys don’t have what it takes to be on the national stage (or the local news, apparently), much less deal with international politics.

Regardless of whether the questions was oddly-placed or not is not what prompted the cartoon-ish “Exit, stage left!” handling of the interview…
It was because the reporter went off script–by all means, the reporter did the right thing pulling Ryan off-script to get an “un-scripted” answer. And we all know, this is verobotten as witnessed in the past the past couple election cycles by GOP thugs. There is no sacking THEIR quarter-back as “fair play” on THEIR field, which they bought and think they own…they also think we ALL have to play by THEIR rules or, they take their ball (take off the mic) and go home.
I “pray” reporters keep asking lots questions that pull these guys off script; it’s they only way we find out spoken or unspoken truths.

Does anyone besides me think it’s unbelievably ODD that, for someone who’s always accusing progressives of social engineering, Ryan said “Is to help teach people good discipline, good character”? Mr. Ryan, you are such a punk. Believe me, I don’t need to learn good discipline from you. Aye-whole.

“You’re trying to stuff words in my mouth”?
I hope VP Biden is prepared for this smart-ass remark! Ryan looks weak, scared and very nervous. He’s been winging-it for years and now it’s all going to hit the fan on Thursday night!
Please go to this YouTube video and give it a ‘thumbs down’:

So…Romney can’t take questions from kids and Ryan flips out when he’s questioned by a local TV reporter.
What will these two do if they’re confronted with a world problem that requires them to deal with countries that don’t particularly like us? Are they just going to nuke them all right there? Honestly, they’re clueless.

How can these repugs even think of putting a liar in the White House. Romney lies, Gingrich knows it and is willing to tell it like it is. “How can you debate a person that lies ?” — Gingrich 10/12
The thought of not being able to believe the president let alone trust him takes me back to the days of “Tricky Dick Nixon.” America finally got tired of listening to that mans BS and knew he was in fact, a “crook.” If we can’t trust and believe romney he should never be on a presidential ticket, but finding honest republican opposition is impossible these days. When watching and listening to Obama you see that he is so much more the image and fiber of a president than romney/ryan.(and the rest of the world knows it) People need to trust their president and that will never happen with romney as he has already taken the low road, and blatently demonstrates he would rather lie than tell the truth .

Wait a minute, didn’t Romney call the Ryan budget ‘marvelous’ and say he would adopt it if he were president. They were all drooling over this budget which for some reason they now are refusing to talk about.
Of course they are all refusing to talk about Romney’s tax returns too. I think he got an amnesty over the Swiss bank account and still want to see them!
Ryan’s record in congress has been pathetic – two bills to his credit – re-naming a post office and reducing tax on arrows. His claim to fame – his budget!

Munster’s now trying to get in front of their lies by whining that the Obama campaign is calling them liars because “that’s all they have”. No Paulie, they’re calling you liars because you lie. All over the place, on a truly embarrassing level.

It seems to me this could have been a “leadership” moment not dissimilar to Colin Powell during an interview his aides attempted to quash. He told his aides to let the cameras restart and then answered the reporter’s question. Another missed opportunity.

What will he do if he doesn’t like a question during the debate? Have snit fit and stomp off stage or insist they turn off the cameras?

Ryan doesn’t do well when people ask him tough questions. He can only utter a smartass remark. Seen too many videos of this guy to know he can’t handle confrontation or rebuke. Biden’s going to push his buttons and the show will be on!

Detail of tax cuts for the rich aren’t really needed. The claim that any tax change increasing the income of the top tax bracket and of large corporations will cause growth of US employment is demonstrably wrong. These richest of families and combines have tremendous wealth, much of it overseas and hidden from US taxes, which they have not invested in job producing companies since the start of the recession in ’07 or before.
This is essentially a dispute between those saying supply side stimulation always leads to more growth or growth similar to the amount of stimulation and realistic economics that understand supply side stimulation works in some circumstances and not in others circumstances. Right now supply side investment has had plenty of funds than they could invest in growth of jobs and production. The rich and big corporations do not “create jobs” and increase production because there is no demand. Inflation is very low, as is consumer spending (relative to a “more full” employment economic situation like the last half of the 1990s). Basically, the lower and middle class (or the now and previous members of the middle class) only have enough money to spend for the present rate of consumption. Production to meet this demand is presently accomplished by those now employed. If the middle class, etc. had more money to spend then demand would be higher; corporations and investors could employ more of the workforce to produce more to meet this demand.
If these corporations and rich investors are given a larger share of our GDP or GNP, they will still have no increased demand to fill and thereby no reason for hiring to increase production. If more of the GNP goes to the rich, etc. and less goes to the consuming public there will be less demand and less employment leading to another recession!
We should invest in infrastructure and hire thousands of workers; their demand increase will cause more employment and end the current…

I’m not a Romney/Ryan fan, but the reporter went from guns to taxes like flipping a light switch. The tax remark was unrelated to the previous line of questions like he was trying to trap Ryan into giving something away and Ryan caught it. I do not approve of this form of trickery journalism.

It’s not strange to ask a candidate how they would pay for something, esp when their tax plan is a secret.

There are a lot of questions candidates should answer. They have to be asked sooner or later

BoyWonder, it’s really not that hard to follow the logic of the reporter. You stated the way to bring crime down is to bring opportunity to high crime communities. Opportunity means jobs and money. Your plan to bring jobs according to… YOU AND MITT… Is to lower taxes and therefore stimulate the economy… So… Where is the disconnect here? The reporter knows your policies better than you? You don’t understand logical inference? Stupid is depressing…. Really, me no like stoopid people, or otherwise smart people pretending to be stupid in order to win elections…

Guile, how is it unrelated? With all due respect, you only need a basic understanding of issues to see the connection. Paul Ryan’s solution to lowering crime was basically an economic one, he says jobs and opportunity will solve that. In response, the reporter asked him about his plan to bring jobs and opportunity, if that plan of lowering taxes would really improve the economic situation of the people living in violent neighborhoods. What is hard to understand about that? I’m not trying to be facetious or rude, but it’s about as clear as crystal. The fact that this potential vp didn’t connect the pretty simple logic of a question regarding his economic policies, considering his answer to a problem was that his economic policies would fix it, is mind boggling… What am I missing?
This reporter was quicker on his feet and had a better understanding of the issues and big picture than a vp candidate did. Who embarrassed who?

I like how in Ryan’s little world, gun crime only happens in inner cities. What a fekkin’ idiot!
