Atheist Bill Maher Catches Hell From Fox News Viewers For Tebow Tweet
More proof that Fox News kills brain cells. Fox News fans were so outraged by a Bill Maher tweet about Tim Tebow that they have been telling the atheist to go straight to hell.
Bill Maher tweeted this after Tim Tebow attempted to ruin Christmas for people who believe in the forward pass and set the NFL back 80 years with his performance against the Buffalo Bills:
Maher’s tweet provoked outrage from Fox News’ Glenn Beck clone gone bad, Eric Bolling.
Bolling tweeted:
A click on the hashtag #straighttohellbill opens the door to the real fun.
Here are some of the choice tweets with usernames removed:
RT @ericbolling Bill Maher is disgusting vile trash. Can’t even repeat what he just twted about Tebow on Christmas Eve. #straighttohellBill
(As if tweeting anything about the Golden Tebow Child other than an unconfirmed report that he may have been the byproduct of a virgin birth in a manger in blasphemous).
never cared for Bill Maher even before he became a lib political hack posing as a comedian but Tebow tweet was revolting #straighttohellbill
(If Tebow gives God credit for all the good things that he does on the football field, then why is it wrong to blame God, when he unleashed a gigantic barrel of suck on Christmas Eve?)
@billmaher if Tebow was a Muslim and prayed towards Mecca after a touchdown, would you still make fun of him? #straighttohellBill
(Of all the tweets in this stream, this one was by far my favorite. Bill Maher is an atheist. He doesn’t care what faith Tim Tebow practices. He would still make fun of him if Muslim Tebow gave all the credit to Allah. What part of this is so hard to understand? Trying to paint Maher as a terrorist sympathizer is so Fox News. What part of this don’t you people get?)
The most hysterical part of all of this is Eric Bolling and his troop of twitdiots telling an atheist to go to hell. The fact that atheists don’t believe in deities or angels, or demons, or heaven and hell seems lost on them. Telling someone to go to a place that they don’t believe exists is not the best way to express your anger.
Tim Tebow has already been martyred by Fox News. It doesn’t seem matter to these people that a). Tebow has yet to master the fine art of the forward pass, b). Quarterbacks are expected to be able to accurately throw forward passes, c). This means that in the eyes of most, Tim Tebow is not a very good quarterback.
Some might say that Tim Tebow is beloved by so many evangelicals because of his faith, not his play.
Anyone who criticizes Tebow, or who points out the ridiculousness of the Tebow to God connection (my money is on Tebow not being able to hit God if he was wide open on a 15 yard slant), earns the wrath of the religious right for criticizing their faith. Tebow’s faith is getting him a free pass ( if thrown by Tebow it would probably be intercepted) with many in the media.
Many sportswriters are afraid to go near the issue of Tebow’s faith to even question whether or not Tebow’s disciples have bullied the media into not writing or speaking badly of their pigskin savior.
Bill Maher brought up a good point. If Tebow gives God the credit for the good, then does God get blame for the bad? It is the kind of thing those pesky atheists always ask, and the response is forever howls of religious persecution.
If any more evidence is ever needed that watching Fox News does definitely make you dumber, remember that Fox News viewers once told an atheist to go to hell.

Really, I am familiar with neither Tim Tebow nor football. I was rather turned off the latter at the age of nine, when I asked if a quarterback was a fourth as wide as a fullback, and was rewarded with the sight of my father and uncles rolling on the floor holding their sides. Nonetheless, the current Tebowdolatry seems to have little to do with his excellence as a player, and if he is lacking in that, what exactly is he being idolized for???

Re: Tim Tebow – Matthew 6:5-8 – “And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. 6 But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. 7 And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. 8 Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.” Those Fox-fugued freaks need to spend a little less time attacking and a little more reading their “guidebook of life”.

That’s a great verse you picked out and I’m glad you read it. However, you’re making a lot of raw assumptions about the people who watch Fox news, read the Bible, and actually follow Christianity. Not all Fox news viewers are Christians. And you’re right, some one who stands on the street corner saying how godly they are probably isn’t much of a Christian if in fact they are one at all.

Considering how deceitful Fox news is, I have a problem with the idea of someone “actually following Christianity” who watches those outrageous liars. I will grant that some people may not know that they’re being lied to, deceived, and being brainwashed or manipulated, but it should sink in sometime. (Maybe we need to get the word out further that Fox has been banned in Canada because of their lies.)
Real Christianity is liberal and cannot be conservative. You cannot help the poor and support Big Business/corporations/the rich. You cannot say you love your neighbor and hate LGBT people/Muslims/”Illegal Immigrants”. Jesus was a radically liberal person (read His words rather than listen to some brain-dead blowhard liar of a preacher!). I would ask anyone who thinks they are Christian, why they put equal weight on the rest of the Bible as compared to Jesus own words (or more weight if you listen to the dominionists).

Why is it ok we get beat to death daily about how “Jesus saves” ? It’s cult-like. I don’t want to ever utter the words “Jesus is mt personal saviour” . I’m Cathloic and am greatly offended by this abuse of our right of religious freedom. Great someone wants to blame Jesus for every mistake they make but I’m sick of hearing it and saying so doesn’t mean I’m against god it’s just that I don’t want to drink the kool-aid.

Some times it is a little over-whelming when people crank out the same phrases over and over again. Especially when those phrases mean little to you. However, I think the point that Christians are trying to make is that Jesus is central to everything they believe. I’m curious though, you say that you are Catholic but don’t want anything to do with Jesus. Why is that? The last time I checked, Jesus was sort of the heartbeat to any Christian faith (Catholic, Protestant, etc.)

Ok. A couple facts:
Jesus – mis-translation of name, Yeshua, JOSHUA….
Christ – title, not name.
Oh. And this fact. Said mis-named person NEVER EXISTED.
No evidence
No historical accounts by ANY of the 38+ historians writing at the time
No eye-witness accounts; all four gospels written more than 60 years later
No substantiation to the myth of “Mary” (funny, very British name… )
No substantiation for “Joseph” (hm. That’s quite British too…)
And this biological fact: IF said person existed, he was definitely, irrefutably HUMAN. Females contribute an X chromosome; males contribute either X or Y: If christ existed and was MALE, he HAD to be human…..
If one is stupid and uneducated enough to think a non-human “spirit” contributed to the person of “christ,” or if “god” did the deed, either one instantly makes “god” human by giving him DNA and genes or the resulting child could ONLY be female, as there would be no male contribution to genes… therefore X chromosome, therefore FEMALE.

Aldous Huxley wrote a great book called Brave new world Revisited in 1951 the completely explains propaganda within our society, and gives you their play book, and when using propaganda he concludes drawing on historical propagandists “Opponents should not be argued with; they should be attacked, shouted down, or, if they become too much of a nuisance, liquidated.” Funny how this seems to be what our political/moral/religious discussions have boiled down to…..

The only people who are “secure in their beliefs or opinions” are those who never challenge their beliefs.
Your ‘god’ is no more real than any of other 5000 or so of human history – which, for the record is MUCH MORE THAN 6000 YEARS!
Your key figure never existed AND is modelled on about 25 other nearly-identical mythical figures and IF – and that is a very big IF – the PERSON ever existed, he was definitely definitively, unarguably HUMAN; see note above.
There is NO afterlife, no hell, no heaven and no mansion in the sky, built by your invisible sky-daddy.
THERE IS NOW. This is all you get. What a waste to spend your life judging other people and trying to live up to the whims of a monstrous, implacable, murderous, child-killing, slave and rape-advocating invisible man, who kills his own son and advocates the death of so many other children.
The fact that this idiot athlete has ANY credibility speaks volumes for the educational and intellectual abilities (limited in both cases) of the US public and certainly that part of the US public that watches/listens to/doesn’t protest FOX.

just like the call from your god to “spread the good news” people of other moral belief structures have callings to help others in ways the feel are best. For example, Socrates said “The unexamined life is not worth living” now it i truly believe this to be a true an virtuous axiom, its application to my life would be necessary in order from me to have a life worth living. However like the example with the gospel, can i be said to be morally good to have this “good news” or right way of living and not share it with those around me? Now if i truly believe that the The unexamined life is not worth living, why would i let people go on with a meaningless existence without challenging their belief systems, and causing them to have to examine and defend their beliefs? Does this not lead one to critically examine their beliefs and if indeed true confirm their beliefs? those who want their beliefs left unchallenged tend to have false or irrational beliefs….

Tim Tebow is not the first NFL player to make his faith central to his life off or on the field. Reggie White was a preacher. Deion Sanders is a minister and led prayer circles on the football field after games. Troy Vincent was once asked what book everyone should read and he replied, “The King James Bible because it is life.”
Even in the Bears-Broncos game Tebow wasn’t the only player who makes a big show of his faith. Devin Hester touches his feet, legs, shoulders and points skyward in order to get god’s protection, “I just tell god to watch over me from the toes on my feet to the head of my crown.”
And Reggie White, Deion Sanders, Troy Vincent and Devin Hester are all African-Americans, Kurt Warner dedicated his Super Bowl victory (but not his two Super Bowl defeats) to jesus.
So, what is it about Tebow? Do people really believe that Tim Tebow is winning because of Jesus is watching out for him or aiding the flight of the football? I think the Tebow Mania and the way everyone wants this to be an issue is because some christians want to feel they are persecuted. These christians are making Tim Tebow a litmus test for the persecution complex they crave and the war on their religion they are engaged in.

I believe in some respects that you are right about the way that some people, Christians or not, put Tebow on some sort of God ordained pedestal. But in fact, Tebow doesn’t feel that way at all. After his loss to the Bills he even tweeted that he was thankful to God for the game. In an interview he even says that he doesn’t think that God really cares who wins or loses the game. Tebow just wants everyone to know that his abilities, for better or worse, are a gift from God. He’s never claimed to be any of the titles that people may be placing on him.

I consider myself a progressive and hate it when I see liberals acting just like intolerant teabaggers. Sorry, but Bill Maher is intolerant and people like him in my opinion are the filp side of teabaggers. Both are so justified and right in their “know allness” that they can’t accept that others may have an opinion or lifestyle that is difffernt than their own. So what do they do? They try to discredit the other person right to see or do things different than them.
I personally think that Maher’s a hypocritical opposite teabagger butt hole!!

When teabaggers disagree with someone, they bring assault rifles to political rallies, advocate violence (2nd amendment remedies), engage in wars of misinformation and propaganda, disparage and marginalize anyone who disagrees with them and ultimately try to enact their personal beliefs into law.
When those who lean left disagree with someone, they take comical jabs at them.
Where are the similarities, exactly?
Stevan
Dec. 28th, 2011 at 3:02 pm
Simple…the similarity is INTOLERANCE. Teabaggers are intolerant extremists on the far right and flaming liberals are intolerant extremists on the far left. I never indicated what actions either side side takes in relation to their extremism; I only said that they have the same INTOLERANT views.

Try explaining that to millions of children they tore from the breasts of their mothers and stuck in state orphanages to be raised as atheists simply because their parents were deemed “religious.” Oh and the parents that weren’t outright murdered were sent to prison camps and mental institutions (anyone who believes in God just must be insane right?) to be used as fodder and guinea pigs.
