From Blaming God to Epilepsy: the Right Wing’s Obamacare Armageddon Meltdown
The problem with being enraged and hyperbolic all of the time is when something big happens, there’s nowhere new to go. No new big mountain of crazy to scale.
After the Supreme Court knocked down the Right’s claim that Obama is an unconstitutional Socialist who wants Americans to live (oh, criminal!), they had nowhere new to turn. After all, for years they’ve been claiming that Obamacare was a reason to take to arms and rise up against the “tyranny” of socialism. Where do you go after threatening insurrection? You double down impotently on your previous chicken little…
From threatening to move to Canada to assuage their socialist-hating hearts (I kid you not) to claiming that Justice Roberts is suffering from “cognitive dissociation” due to an epilepsy drug that they have no reason to think he actually takes, to beating their heads against the Russia wall only to bounce back and break their skulls on Socialism again, the Right is in total meltdown mode.
Buzzfeed caught them threatening to move to Canada to rebel against the Socialism (you’d laugh only you quickly realize that these people vote and this sobers you beyond any picture of John Boehner’s sour face):
Walter Weldon @WallyWeldon
I’m moving to Canada, the United States is entirely too socialist.Van Summers @VanSummers
#SCOTUS holds up free healthcare for everyone?! Screw this commie country, I’m moving to #Canada #whoswithmePhieona @angelbaby009
Individual mandate upheld, this fudging ridiculous. I’m marrying a Canadian n moving to Canada 🖀Kyle Berger @kberger2124
Moving to Canada #supremecourtrulingJacqua Flocka @JacquaFlocka
God literally fu*k this. I’m moving to Canada. Jump off a cliff @Obama.
How does God literally fu*k this? We hope the patriots enjoy the healthcare for all and gun-regulated Canada, but we fear that Canada is too wise to clean up the results of America’s defunded public schools.
Here’s Fox saying that America is starting to seem like Russia, countered by no, it’s Socialism! Head-banging danger: HIGH.
From the June 29 edition of Fox News’ Fox & Friend courtesy of Media Matters:
Then the Drudge Report went after Chief Justice John Roberts as if he worked for NPR or Planned Parenthood. Real Clear Politics reported on Michael Savage’s (as in, the man who is barred from certain European countries due to his hate speech) claim, which Drudge linked to as proof that Roberts is suffering from cognitive problems:
“Let’s talk about Roberts. I’m going to tell you something that you’re not going to hear anywhere else, that you must pay attention to. It’s well known that Roberts, unfortunately for him, has suffered from epileptic seizures. Therefore he has been on medication. Therefore neurologists will tell you that medication used for seizure disorders, such as epilepsy, can introduce mental slowing, forgetfulness and other cognitive problems. And if you look at Roberts’ writings you can see the cognitive dissociation in what he is saying,” Michael Savage said on his radio program this evening.
Media Matters complied the various sources Drudge linked to, which basically amounts to the equivalent of a Glenn Beck chalkboard smear.
Roberts has reportedly had a seizure in 2007 and one 14 years before that. This must mean that he is on medication (even though he has never confirmed if he does indeed have epilepsy let alone takes medication for it), and some of those medications might cause some side effects that OH NOES CHICKLEN LITTLES EXPLAIN HIS CRAZY RULING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It’s not that ObamaCare is Constitutional, it’s the DRUGS!
Then Rush Limbaugh took a turn in the super crazy chair after disappointing America yet again by not making good on his promise to move to Costa Rica if healthcare reform was passed. Rush hyperventilated that we now have Death Panels and they are aimed at Conservatives!
From the June 28 edition of Premiere Radio Networks’ The Rush Limbaugh Show via Media Matters:
Not to be outdone by Rush, Mike Vanderboegh — the ex militia member who threatened an armed insurrection against the U.S. government and is behind the Fast and Furious debacle — decided that ObamaCares is just another reason to threaten the government (not that he is mentally unstable or anything– there are just a ton of reasons why he wants to terrorize his own government- wave flag!). THIS while Republicans are touting his craziness as the justification for their contempt proceedings against Eric Holder:
“You may call tyranny a mandate or you may call it a tax, but it still is tyranny and invites the same response.” He further predicts the response of his ilk: “If we refuse to obey, we will be fined. If we refuse to pay the fine, we will in time be jailed. If we refuse to report meekly to jail, we will be sent for by armed men. And if we refuse their violent invitation at the doorsteps of our own homes we will be killed — unless we kill them first. … I am on record as advocating the right of defensive violence against a tyrannical regime.”
Issa must be so proud, eh? Pallin’ around with terrorists, indeed.
Speaking of Pallin’ Around Sarah, she was finally able to insert God into a sentence that both failed to demonize a specific person and didn’t suggest that God wanted Sarah to be President. Growth? Hope? Palin took to her Facebook cave yesterday to write, “Thank you, SCOTUS. This Obamacare ruling fires up the troops as America’s eyes are opened. Thank God.”
Sure, she followed that up with her usual crazy lies that we already debunked yesterday based on her tweet – the freedom dying and the Kenyan lying – it was almost heartwarming how she worked in Republicans’ main talking point that ObamaCare is the “biggest tax increase in history” – which is like, forever! Only not as big as Reagan’s taxes, and when one says “tax increase” one assumes it is both a tax and an increase, but naturally, it is not a tax – it is a fee— and yes, I know it’s hard for conservatives to follow the Constitution but taxes and fees are legal, and people who can’t afford health insurance will not pay a fine for not purchasing it.
Still, I was pleased for Ms. Palin for managing to thank God for something other than her own career trajectory, though in all honesty, there isn’t much for her to appreciate on that front, but she can hardly blame God for that. Can she?
To sum the conservative headbanging crazy up for you, God made Chief Justice Roberts take that epilepsy medication which clouded his judgment which made him rule in favor of the Constitution instead of being all activisty and this was God’s way of imposing upon the American people the biggest tax increase in the history of the world (Rush’s words) so that Republicans could win in November 2012. God thinks it’s okay to make America over into Russia/Socialist country if it’s to prove a point that Mitt Romney should be elected.
God also wants his children to take refuge from the Socialism in Canada, where they might learn about the benefits of it – er, can rail on about healthcare while partaking in it - er, for the freedom. They can move back to America in November after Romney is elected for God, and they’ll be the better for it.
Rush and a posse of conservatives might be killed at the hands of the Death Panels, but this too must be God’s plan to get Republicans elected this November. God literally fu*ked this! Conservatives will fight back with armed insurrection killing anyone who might want to kill them via Death Panels or scary monsters under the bed, but guns don’t kill people, people kill people. (Don’t look to Arizona gun laws to figure out why those guns were a walkin’.)
Heck, God knows what’s best. The cracked skulls of the martyrs of crazy are making some noise, Internets! They’re not retreating; they’re reloading, reloading, reloading! FIRE in the hole!
If I didn’t know any better, I’d think God was perfectly clear yesterday; she wants these nut jobs to move to Canada, where they will be quickly separated from their security blanket guns once and for all, thereby saving the rest of us from their tyranny for the freedom. Oh, and the liberty — sweet Canadian exile liberty.

I have a picture in my head of these fright wingers spinning around like tops in a room, bouncing from wall to the other, just spinning around and around and banging their heads every time they bounce to another wall.
I admit, that’s quite satisfying.
Would have been more satisfying – and I really wish he had done this – if after the President was finished with his statement and turned around and started walking back down the hallway, he actually spiked a football. That or turning around and saying something completely inappropriate like, “Take that, bitches.” Or something. :)

A refrain I often hear on the street–word-for-word–from these folks, I wonder have you heard it too?
“What we need is the second coming of Ronald Reagan.”
Hmmm… vacuous chest-thumping unduly proud purveyor of calumny and bald-faced lies… I do believe Ronald Wilson Romney fits the bill, my friends.
History does not repeat itself, although it sometimes rhymes.

I feel so sorry for all the screaming little teabagging republiturds out there. The can move to Canada, but they won’t like living there, because their tax rate up there is MUCH more than they are paying here. I also doubt that Canada wants America’s MOST STUPID moving up there, it would destroy their country. I don’t watch all the right wing nutcase garbage, it’s not really worth my time these days since there is nothing really new to learn from the right wing nutcases, except the same rehashing of god hates this, god hates that, and a bunch of other insane blathering about nothing useful.

NO, we don’t want them. Besides, Canada doesn’t take just anyone. You have to be at least marginally employable and a non-felon. Being an idiot is not viewed as a plus.

sometime i will write the story of matt drudge, who i know. before the internets, matt was working in the swag counter at a major film studio in LA, and i worked on the lot then…. the backstory of drudge and brietbart is really amazing…
what the rightwingers should say is, let texas secede, and they can create their own republic, and pay the rest of us. as texas and the south get $1.85 for every buck they toss in.

Their resentment at “hollywood liberals” rejecting them is the only thing fueling their psychopathy. If they hadn’t sold out to the conspiracy ridden right, they’d be begging for a needle on Hollywood and Vine.

The truth is, republicans have been bought and paid for by the health care industry who would like to continue to spend minimal amounts on healt6h cfare, but get large bonus’s and make huge profits, they are terrified this will lead to universal single payer. They took the money from Dick Armey’s group, the chamber of commerce and corporations to kill the bill. They figured that Rove & the Koch’s who hosted Scalia AND Clarence Thomas who along with his wife had taken mega money to kill health care, would not let them down, especially with Roberts who is extremely right wing. I think Roberts either had a pang of conscience, or was thinking what it would do to his legacy. The right wing are so apoplectic they are lashing out at everyone.

Totally agree with your assessment. The right thought that the Kochs had this rulng bought and paid for through Scalia & Thomas and were totally shocked when it didn’t come to fruition. You only have to look at how giddy they have been the past week. With Romney having the nerve to make jokes about whether or not the President was sleeping well the night before the decision, Boner warning there would be no “spiking the ball”, etc. The Repubs had been assured that Obama would be destroyed. That’s why you had the ridiculously written dissent submitted by them – it didn’t matter what it said, it’s sole objective was to destroy “Obamacare”. Scalia & Thomas, as directed by the Kochs and knowing they had Alito and most likely Roberts, were focused on getting Kennedy in line and once they had –it was too much to keep a secret! Word went out over a week ago that the ACA was going down and so was Obama…
…until one man decided to take back his court. And today little Republican heads are popping all over the country! LOL.

Just tell me one good HONEST REASON WHY I SHOULD VOTE FOR ROMNEY! CRICKETS…..I though so. He is the epitomy of all of the above. THE GOP IS PARTY OF HATING AMERICA AND ITS PEOPLE.
They should all be disgusted in themselves. Because i’m sure me and a million others sure are.

The thing that’s most hilarious about all this is their claim that they “took their country back” in 2010, except the best they managed was one house of congress in an anti-incumbent, off year election. Meanwhile, that same house hovers around a popularity rating of 9% nationally and appears to donothing for the people of this country besides posture and waste our tax $$$ while making pointless, symbolic votes that proceed to die in the senate.
We’ve already heard twice before (with gay rights and immigration) the teatards screaming that the President has sealed his fate, this has inspired their base, isn’t an Xtian, blahdy blah, blah. Yet Obama’s actually doing better in the polls.
And I, personally, LOVE seeing him take a page from the FDR/Truman handbook and “embracing their hate”.

Right wing opposition to universal health care fits right in with their general theme of privatized profits and socialized losses. The young and healthy don’t want to pay for health insurance so that they can spend that money on something else. But you can bet that if they become gravely ill, they’ll be glad to take the care offered at the ER. And when those bills pile up, just declare bankruptcy and move on. How utterly tyrannical that anyone would expect them to actually pay for insurance to guard against an unlikely but potentially catastrophic illness! That’s just un-American!
What all these nut cases conveniently forget is that you *can’t* be turned away at the ER, so when something bad happens, you get fixed up, but *someone* has to pay for it. If you can’t pay for it, then guess who does? That’s right – the rest of us, in the form of higher costs for health related goods and services. So, does it really seem all that unreasonable to require those who can afford it to purchase insurance so that we don’t need to do that anymore? Those who can’t afford it can get coverage for free, so they can generally stay healthier with regular care instead of using just the ER where care is most expensive. And those who insist on being dicks, well they can just pay the tax/fine/penalty or whatever you want to call it. The part they seem to miss is that they can easily avoid the tax if they just agree to not be a dick – which is admittedly quite hard for some of the more militant crazies.
I’ve had this same argument with one of my tea-partier friends, but it never seems to sink in with him. I told him that there are really one two solutions: 1. universal coverage of some sort, or 2. start turning away the uninsured at the hospital. Unsurprisingly, he’s just fine with option 2 – until I ask him what would happen if he were in an accident and arrived at the hospital unconscious without proof of insurance. Well, then that’s a different story, because he has insurance after all! Oh yeah, prove it while your unconscious and rapidly dying. I’m sure that anyone with a triple digit IQ can see the problem here. When you start to be selective about who gets emergency care, it gets tricky very fast. And when you guarantee emergency care for everyone, then you end up with the classic free rider problem. It’s not an easy problem to solve, but in a civilized society, the only reasonable solution is to insure everyone.
Oh, and if Rush wants to move to Costa Rica, I’d be glad to help him pack. Heck, I’d even throw him a bon voyage party if he promised to never come back! (Although, Cost Rica seems like a nice place, so I’m not sure what they did to deserve him.)

Plus, ER “care” is patchwork. They cannot set you up with ongoing treatments, chemotherapy for example, or even life saving surgery.

I cannot imagine living without my universal health care and am amazed that people don’t wish to have access to health care, it should matter to them that all their fellow citizens are covered too – isn’t it the people joining together that makes a country great?
The thing about higher taxes – at the end of the day it really does not matter – there are structures in place to help the lower incomes, or reduce your taxable income – when you look around and see mothers able to take the first year off in maternity leave and have their job waiting for them, health care regardless of being rich or homeless, not having to shop for a doctor (or hospital) who takes your insurance…it’s all good.
Of course there are those who slip through the cracks or have to travel for some health care because they live up north, UHC does not cover everything so you either apply for pharmacare or get a private plan for prescriptions, and insurance or out of pocket for dental or chiropractic etc. Of course there will always be things that could be done better – but it is a great country all the same.

I agree with most of what you said. Yes, universal health Care, gay marriage, pro-science…these are great things. Now if Canada would just get rid of it’s absolutely ridiculous hate speech laws, it would be a REALLY great country!

I’m so sick of all these arguments. WTF. We pay for auto insurance to lower car insurance and it pays for medical costs and losses of all kinds..we pay for property taxes to keep our cities kept up and support our schools and all kinds of things..if you don’t own a car you don’t pay..if you don’t own a house you don’t pay… but ALL people pay taxes on everything else tho ..so they do contribute. Everytime you spend a penny you contribute. what is the diff?? I’m so sick of this. EVERYONE PAYING makes sense. This is the opening door to UNIVERSAL HEALTHCARE!! This was Obama’s plan all along. He couldn’t go straight to it. We will get there tho. With Obama that is. Give it time. Stop believing the lies of sarah and the GOP..they’re thinking of the insurance company profits not your life or well being. They are so devious. To lie to you like that. How selfish can a party get? JOBS is why the GOP is going crazy & lying to their people about the ACA. They know people are going to benefit. And we know how they hate to help people benefit. Can we all stop acting stupid already. If we’re all paying, more people have insurance, more people will naturally feel better being insured . We’ll need more doctors, more nurses, technicians, offices, furniture, equipment, hospitals, record keepers, file clerks etc etc..look at all this movement..JOBS! WTF is wrong with the right that they just refuse to take something that is good for them and their kids and their future?? read this! think! for crying out loud. I’m so sick of their blind allegiance to the GOP at the expense of their parents, children and their elders. You should be ashamed that you would let the GOP take your mothers’/fathers’ grandparents’ SS or Medicare. Take any opportunity for a good education for your children. What kind of person are you to vote for someone like that? THINK! FOR THEM AT LEAST! and for crying out loud..find a real bible..and find Jesus. You people on the right really need Him.

A former GOP spokesman in MI, Matthew Davis, sent out an email yesterday promoting the idea of an armed insurrection as a means of showing RW displeasure with the Supreme Court ACA ruling. The far right-wing went nuts when the ACA decision wasn’t in their favor, and Romney and the RNC used it as a fundraising opportunity. Some media outlets were reporting today that Romney raised over $3 million since the ACA decision was handed down. One of PBO’s spokespersons didn’t report the exact figure but told the media that the democrats had raised more than the Romney Campaign since the ACA ruling. I made sure to donate $100 on yesterday, and I plan to donate more within the next few days. When I donated to the DNC on Thursday, my donation was multiplied by three. by anonymous donors.
Mike Vanderboegh really needs to slither his azzz back into whatever hole he slithered out of. I remember his story from a few years ago. The guy is disabled and on an evil government program known as SSI. The only reason he has health insurance is because his wife works and her BCBS policy covers him. Her employer subsidizes the insurance he uses! This tool is on the government dole and advocating violence against the very government that mails him his monthly disability checks. Lord, save me from these shysters.
