Buster Wilson Claims Obama Wants to Declare Christians to be Mentally Ill and Lock Them Up
By: Hrafnkell HaraldssonFeb. 17th, 2013more from Hrafnkell Haraldsson

If you don’t remember Buster’s meat issues, here’s a refresher from last July:
Visit NBCNews.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy
Buster seems unaware of this and claims that the reason we left-wingers use terms like “right-wing fanatics” and “radicals” is not because Buster and his friends, are, in fact, right-wing radicals, but because if we can somehow make the label stick we can get the CDC to launch “attacks against Christians based on some form of mental illness diagnosis.”
This is what Buster had to say:
Someday I believe that they are going to be attacks against Christians based on some form of mental illness diagnosis. I think it is not without reason that the left refers to people like us as those loony, right-wing fanatics or right-wing radicals, far-right-wing nut jobs. I think it is by design that they use those kinds of terminologies against us because one day I think there is going to be something in the hand of doctors, something in the hands of the CDC, something in the hands of the government that will be able to classify us a certain way and get us out of the picture. Again, who does the government hate? Who are they against? Who are they worried the most about? Those are the ones they are going to attack, you keep your eyes open to that.
Really, it doesn’t sound like such a bad idea. Clearly, something is wrong with people like Buster Wilson and his cohort, Bryan Fischer and others like Ralph Reed. Mental illness is certainly one possible explanation. And it’s not just these religious bigots, it’s the politicians they inspire, like Rand Paul.
Buster doesn’t get credit for this particular conspiracy theory. Rather, he took a conspiracy theory hatched by Erik Rush and ran with it…and ran…and ran.
Erik Rush convinced himself that Obama was going to use the American Psychiatric Association to do away with Christians. Now, while I have a grudge of my own against the APA (their crappy publication manual), I have to say Rush is pretty far out there:
Along with his disdain for European society and what Obama perceives as the vestiges of imperialism, colonialism, and white supremacy (which includes America), he also despises that which gave rise to it, which serves as its cultural adhesive, and which stands as the chief impediment to a Marxist America: Christianity…In the case of those who pose the most dire threat to Obama’s designs – Christians – these will certainly be targeted. After all, who more demonstrably epitomizes mental instability in the eyes of the Marxist atheist than those who commune with and rely upon that which is unseen? To the Marxist, God is no more real than Elwood’s “Harvey,” and even more antiquated than the Constitution.
There is no disputing the fact that these right-wing radicals engage in what can only be described as “crazy talk.” There is a reason we use the term “bat-shit crazy” after all. If the shoe fits….
Which brings us right back to Rush, who cites as evidence “the political left’s intense derision for Christianity, and this most definitely includes Obama.”
Despite having passed himself off as a Christian in the eyes of the grotesquely ignorant, it is clear that he is functionally an atheist. Many argue that he is in fact a Muslim; my belief is that while he holds a marked affinity for Muslims, he is far too narcissistic to deign worshipping anything other than himself. More than anything else, he is a Marxist.
Literally, people like Rush just sit back and make this shit up. or they hear some equally crazy shit from somebody else and adopt it as fact, as has happened here with first Rush, and then Wilson. It’s almost like crazy talk is contagious, and maybe it is. Perhaps this is a pernicious form of mental illness that can pass from one person to another. Perhaps these right-wing radicals should be interred somewhere. It would certainly satisfy their martyr complexes.
There is a lot wrong with these men. As Right Wing Watch observed with regards to Buster Wilson:
Wilson’s bold stance against heated political rhetoric may come as a surprise since he frequently describes progressives as the “progressive-homo-left-Christian-Bible-conservative-traditional value-hating crowd,” a “hate filled, heterophobic, christiphobic, and conservaphobic group” and “Bible hating, Christian hating, conservative knocking, vile, foul mouthed name calling, socialist hetero/Christo-haters.”
And they’re in good company with Janet Mefferd, who falls back on the ancient Christian lament that even being forced to live in the same world with pagans was a form of persecution:
Everything is so upside down in our society now and right and wrong have completely switched where what is really wrong is to say you shouldn’t have two boys allowed to go to the high school prom. Now we can get into a big issue of the public schools are morally bankrupt at this point and we all ought to exit and just let them, let them do their thing, and that may be the ultimate answer; on the other hand, I feel for these Christian kids who are in a prom or kids who are at this high school who say, ‘you know something, do we have to go down this road?’ Whether the homosexual activists like it or not, and I know this isn’t politically correct to say this, but not everybody wants to see that. I know that that’s offensive to the activist crowd, they want us all to see it, they want us all to approve of it, they want us all to call it blessed and okay and rejoice and have parties and throw confetti in the air over this whole thing. But the fact of the matter is it’s a moral issue. You will always have Christians who will disagree with this and why should the rights of the activists trump the rights of Christians?
Mentally ill? You tell me. I mean, come on, Janet, we could as easily turn your argument around and ask why you think your right to be obnoxious bigots trumps our rights as tolerant humans? Really, shouldn’t you just get off the planet already? Can’t you just disappear in a puff of logic? We just shouldn’t have to deal with your whiny little bitch of a God any more.
Somehow, I don’t think Jesus’ ego was this fragile.

I am having a hard time understanding why all the right wing christianists and conspiracy theorists believe everything they read in the bible, and accept everything they hear and read from right wing talk radio hosts and Fox News…
…Yet they shut their ears up and say “la la la, I can’t hear you!” when President Obama gives his weekly address to the nation, or his inaugural speech, or the SOTU speech.
Really, most fans of Sarah Palin were saying they did this in the comment section of her Facebook page, and others said that on Politico (which has been overrun with RW trolls). I’m sure it’s worse on Fox Nation, Breitbart.com, Twitchy.com, Red State, etc.

They have good “instructors,” Karen. The republicans in Congress do the same thing. After the SOTU Address, a group of them claimed that PBO has done “nothing” to stop N. Korea from developing its’ nuclear capabilities. It took me less than two minutes on Google to pull up several articles discussing the sanctions the president had implemented against NK to stifle its’ efforts to fully develop its’ nuclear capabilities. I remember when the sanctions were imposed in 2010, and it amazed me that these so-called “top” politicians didn’t know one thing about them. They should be ashamed of embarrassing themselves, but it doesn’t seem if that will ever happen. I expect a huge outcry from republicans later this week because Jindal has spoken out against austerity and Newt Gingrich has admitted that republicans will oppose any immigration reform plan the president presents to them. They’re liars and hypocrites who call for leadership, and when the president presents his plan for anything, whether it’s deficit reduction, immigration, foreign policy, jobs, etc. they reject it simply because it’s the president’s plan. Their asses are too lazy to offer a decent plan of any kind. If I live to be 100, I’ll always remember the republicans’ healthcare plan that was less than 20 pages, most of them showing only charts–no facts or figures to support them!

Holy CRAP they get more Insane as the days tick by.I sadly grew up in a Christian Taliban family&ran like HELL from it.Their refusal to take me to a doctor as a child when I had Pneumonia almost cost me my life&gave me a permanently damaged lung, all because they believed that’god would fix it”,right down to when my lungs Collapsed&were it not for my Grandma getting there in the nick of time,I’d be DEAD.all thanks to “God&Faith”..It’s also what got my mother into an early grave,so young at 64,from truly preventable disease. But even though she shook out of The Christian Taliban in her last years, being brainwashed so hard still left her with a HUGE distrust of doctors&for that,I’m now a literal orphan. To say I hate the Christian Taliban is an understatement, and it would do my heart Glad to see them at least neutered&unable to EVER have any sway in american or any other Politics ever again.
People think that moniker is wrong, but it isn’t.Just because they are white american Citizens who look like us&are our neighbors, doesn’t make them any less of a true threat than the Muslim Taliban. In fact they are MORE of one because they CAN hold office&they can vote, potentially giving them the proverbial Keys to the kingdom, and THAT has GOT to be stopped&NOW..
What they do IS Child abuse, plain&simple.EVERYONE should be made to watch the documentary”Jesus Camp”if they have ANY doubts as to The hard right Christian Taliban being a true threat to the United States as well as being Child abusers legally getting away with it,all because they cry”religious Freedom”.Take it from someone who is permanently disabled because of their BS,they’re damaging the Future of not only this Nation, but most importantly,of the very lives of the children in their care..

“Perhaps these right-wing radicals should be interred somewhere. It would certainly satisfy their martyr complexes.”
Now there’s a Freudian slip worth repeating! With “internment” there’s hope for parole but with “interment” you’re there for eternity. Therefore the author would seem to be advocating death to Christians.
Maybe the right-wingers aren’t so crazy after all! But then – just what sane adult goes by the name of “Buster” anyway?

I had to suppress a chuckle when I saw Hraf’s headline, and as far as I can tell, Obama doesn’t need the CDC to tell us that these right-wing control freaks are crazy. They are doing a great job of that all on their own.

That is not the President who wants to declare Christians insane, that would be me (and a LOT of other folks.) He, I think, from observing his actions, DOES believe, in very much the same way as a typical Methodist or Presbyterian family man does – it’s Sunday, let’s go to church and say hello to God – then back to business as usual.
And as long as that is his – or your – general form of worship (within the boundaries of your home and place of worship and not injurious to practitioners and families) I am perfectly supportive of your right. But when your belief system (or religious leader) tells you to interfere with MY belief system, we have a HUGE, irreconcilable problem. Because while I understand perfectly WHY you believe these things, and it is not YOUR fault that you believe them, you may NOT expect anyone else to abide by your beliefs, only to respect your right to have those beliefs.
And when that is not enough, as is currently the case with both the pseudo-Christian Religious Right and the Radical Islamic communities, and your religion requires that everyone else act/follow/believe as you do, it is an automatic declaration of war. And has been since at least the Crusades (yeah, Jesus started it…)
Now that we know the scientific truth about the illusion of existence, we can begin the painful task of freeing minds from the shackles of superstitious myth. But it is a multi-generational task, even if everyone were to cooperate. And we know how well THAT works, even between members of your own belief systems – Catholic vs Evangelical, Shiite vs Sunni, Wasabi vs EVERYBODY (they’re the hot ones, the Saudi mega-Scoville Muslims, thus…)
The best we can hope to accomplish within one generation is to prevent the teaching of creation myths, anti-critical-thinking skills and anti-science agendas in the classroom. Focus nationally on Texas, Louisiana, Wisconsin, Missouri and the other Bible-Belt states that want the taxpayers to pay for teaching their Koch-funded treason and travesty.

Well said.
Radical Fundamentalist of all stripes who disrupt the peace and unity of families, communities, schools, etc. are not unlike the mentally disturbed or ill who creates chaos and multigenerational trauma in our families, communities and schools. They aren’t “loners” who all of the sudden “snap” and use weapons to destroy any and everything in their path; they organize and target any and all who are not of their mind-set, belief or politics.
I realize that they see no reflection in the mirror–only sin, horror, guilt, shame and persecution. I also realize that personal or civil “boundaries” are not their thing…they seem to think that crossing the line into space where they aren’t wanted IS a 2nd amendment right or a given authority by some sky-god. They also lack and sense of self-awareness that they are “trespassing” on other humans by violating these boundaries put into place as a way to preserve human boundaries via laws…the “harm” committed is in disrupting the peace and unity of families, communities, schools, etc. Why should radical fundamentalist get a pass when they clearly create trouble where ever they go?
And yet, these radicals are fanatics about “the gay”, women, their health and “station” in life (barefoot and pregnant) in that they sincerely believe, based on no evidence/facts, that the secular world view is violating their family, schools, community–based upon what??
There is no factual evidence that “secular” law has been targeting them via Obamacare; no one is barging in on their church services, shooting up “Jesus Camp” (ie, their schools),targeting their families, holding protest signs “Christians are pimp fagots” (Westboro used the term on Russell Brand’s show), luring their wives/children into sex or “the servants” taking them to places of ill-repute, then making them promise not to tell the white male authoritarian figure…nor has Satan entered the schools, changing the text books, possessing teacher’s minds and caused children to disobey their parents…
Playing this game of verbal steeple-jacking and spinning it backward as weapon to fight the hands of time, is getting really old. And, it IS sick; especially sick because there are no police reports, law suits, fact based evidence of any kind “Christians” being “harmed”–society needs to target the radical, fundamentalist, authoritarian social structure that continues dominate society with racist/social bigotry based upon a history of myth and superstition. It’s way past it’s time…

I also realize that personal or civil “boundaries” are not their thing…they seem to think that crossing the line into space where they aren’t wanted IS a 2nd amendment right or a given authority by some sky-god.
That would be a 1st amendment right, one of free speech or gov. involvement in religion. The 2nd only involves the right to keep and bear arms.
The problem with these people is not so much a constitutional issue but that they believe their interpretation of “God’s Law” trumps any secular rights of others, especially our right to worship (or not) according to the dictates of our own conscience.

Opps…typo on the 1st v 2nd amendment; should read the 1st.
I would turn this one around…
“The problem with these people is not so much a constitutional issue but that they believe their interpretation of “God’s Law” trumps any secular rights of others…”
The constitution is “secular law”; that IS their core issue, even if denied. They want, as you said,
God’s laws, as in the 10 Commandments, as “the law”. They don’t want any of them man-made-constitutional-law-thingies; man’s laws can be amended. The constitution is a “living” process or document that is made flexible by the man-made laws…I say that they DO have an issue with the constitution and what it stands for.
I say they’re a bunch of big, fat liars who fake their “loyalty” to the flag…they’re working 24/7 to create some kind of an opportunity to seize power. Buster is just another of their unchristian soldiers.

Let us remember that there are left-wing, progressive Christians as well. Some Christians, like some Muslims, some Buddhists, some atheists, and some Hindus are real a**holes who use their religion (or lack thereof) as an excuse to exploit, demonize, denigrate, and murder other people.
But there are other members of those very same religions (or atheists) who are wonderful people who help others and try to help the planet as well.

Maybe he and all of his followers should take a mass holiday trip and hang out on a cross somewhere for a few days in order too obtain a more realistic perspective of what true persecution is and has been. It would be similar to their master Jesus Christ’s experience. In my opinion. Except not exactly like Christ’s because, unlike Christ who was innocent of any crimes or wrong doing, most of them may be deserving of this type of persecution and punishment and should be left to hang there. In my opinion. Unless of coarse their God and Master Jesus Christ has mercy and “saves” them. And after all they should not even begin to really worry until they start getting offered the “free” tickets and “free” rides to sporting events that house wild man-eating animals. Then I’d say that they might have a case. In my opinion. But in the meantime if they have broken or are currently breaking any laws lock them up; if they are proven guilty in a court of law…

The “Busterites” are all loonies AND are controlled by the Rove and Koch machines, and other such greedy wealth stealing corporate goons. Those that would have their America and eat it, too, are not decent people. They are just “godly” enough to deceive those that call themselves the “true believers” and yet fall for all the ultra right wing bull-sh*t. The common people, the decent working class – including those who can’t find work or a home – are being robbed by the ever-richer wealthy in high places (no, not all wealthy are “bad”, and no, not all poor are “good”). But the “army” that is leading us deeper into slavery (especially debt slavery) is very very wealthy AND controls the money on the planet. Now who would that be? And yes, they need to be in jail. Nuff said. Light and love to all!

P.S. One more point: those that talk like Buster – about being locked up – and those that amass guns and other survivalist stores are simply afraid. FEAR is the result of losing confidence in your ability to keep what you have, or to get even more, including control of the people for your benefit and protection. But for those of us that KNOW we are free, and DO as though we are free…. well, we are free! Therefore we can BE free of fear, as well.

An eighteenth century philosopher once remarked that religion is just another name for war.
Our nation has tried courageously to attenuate the ultimate irreconcilability of religions to each other. The so-called extreme Christians want to see a resurgence of the war at religion’s heart.

When a person continually makes life critical decisions based on emotion and not fact and logic, that’s a major defect in reasoning. That’s the best example of insanity I can find. Ever notice how Republicans have the same defect in reasoning as alcoholics, drug and gambling addicts, gun nuts, and religious fanatics? These are all certifiable mental disorders… Granted this is never more true than when this affliction is found in a Republican woman. A Republican Woman? A Gay Republican? A Black Republican? Good God, that’s like a pro KKK African American or a pro Nazi Jew, especially by today’s GOP misogynistic, homophobic and racist standards. But there are way too many studies recently that prove the Right Wing mind is clinically irrational. If a government enacts a law stating these groups are mentally ill, I am going to be REALLY pissed off if they’re going to be allowed to park in the handicapped spots by simply leaving a crucifix or RNC membership card on the dashboard.

I think if you realize that the culture wars are just another kind of turf war, and furthermore that the “conservative” “Christians” have elevated their territorial ambitions to the sanctified level of a crusade — greed isn’t just good, it’s downright Godly — then their persistent persecution complexes, insane sanctimonious self-justifications, repudiations of reality and denigration of fellow human beings begin to make their own kind of twisted sense following their own fatally flawed logic.
The United Church of Christ and Jeremiah Wright are really gonna be pissed once they realize Obama wants to lock ‘em all up as deluded nutjobs… or have these right-wingers expected us to forget that around the time of the 2008 election, part of their objection to the Democratic candidate involved hanging Wright’s “God damn America!” utterance around Obama’s neck?

The NT in my Bible tells Christians not to “evaluate” other Christians’ relationship with God because they’re incapable of looking into anyone’s heart. This is exactly why I don’t pay any attention to these RW religious extremists. I’m pretty sure that they’d classify me as a non-Christian, too, because my Christ is not their Christ.
