Jerry Brown Says Rick Perry’s Criticism is ‘Not a burp. It’s barely a fart’
California Democratic Governor Jerry Brown is not impressed with Texas Republican Governor Rick Perry.
The business war between Texas and California continues. Texas Republican Governor Rick Perry released a $24,000 radio ad campaign in California (because everyone listens to radio these days) one day ago, slamming California’s business climate.
In his 30-second ad, Gov. Perry knocks Brown for the recent tax hike that balanced the California budget, saying, “Building a business is tough, but I hear building a business in California is next to impossible. I have a message for California businesses. Come check out Texas.”
Reporters wanted reaction from Brown today. According to the Sacramento Bee, the Governor quipped, “It’s not a serious story, guys. It’s not a burp. It’s barely a fart.”
Watch a segment of the press conference here:
Pardon me if I revel in Governor Perry’s ad campaign being reduced to “barely a fart”, but this is the guy whose campaign staff called me “scandalous trash” after I reported on stock holdings of his in a company that was at the time the largest distributor of pornography (you might think that made him scandalous trash, but thats not how Republicans roll – the woman is always to blame for the actions of the man). At any rate, I believe scandalous trash ranks above farts, albeit by a slim margin.
Brown asked who would want to move from California to Lubbock, Texas. He said, “They aren’t going to go to Lubbock or someplace like that.” True enough. California is full of gorgeous cities and towns and the weather is almost perfection. However, Texas does have Austin. They had the incomparable Betty Buckley as well, but she is now in London for “Dear World.”
Brown sank one in deep from the state of entertainment (aka, one of our largest exports), “If they want to get in the game, let them spend $25 million on radio and television. Then I’ll take them seriously.”
Indeed. That’s how they roll in California — don’t bother them with your measly, not even a fart, 24,000 dollar radio buys. They are very busy and important, with their balanced budget and their scandalous trash. Mean old liberal elites.

I was a resident of beautiful, wonderful California for 52 years. I miss California AND Jerry Brown!!!
BTW, I’ve lived in beautiful, wonderful Oregon for the last 10 years.
Both states are fantastically BLUE!

Got through slightly less than four years in Lubbock, Texas, by being fed Snot Nose Chutney every dust storm season. Goes like this:
1 1/2 Tbsp olive oil
A small *head* of squashed garlic
a medium tomato
Three or four good-sized jalapeños
A bottle of dried Jap chilis
Black pepper
Half a small raw onion
A little green coriander
Salt to taste
Heat olive oil. Put in minced garlic and jalapeños and fry till done, but not brown. Add minced Jap chilis and continue till soft. Add black pepper and salt and stir till blended. Add green coriander and stir till it wilts. Last, add minced raw onion and stir only till warm. Feed to snot nosed patient till eyes water, nose waters, and sneezing and coughing set in. Then have them expectorate dust, snot, phlegm, and any blood down the sink and rinse down. They’re cured till the next dust storm.

Note: taken in subclinical quantities – say, a round teaspoon with dinner- it makes a tolerably good condiment with Southwestern and South Asian cooking. Five-alarm chili afficionados can even make a whole entreé out of it by adding some cooked ground beef.

Jerry Brown Says Rick Perry’s Criticism is ‘Not a burp. It’s barely a fart’
Well Jerry, in order for it to have been “barely a fart”, it’d have to have come from Rick “Helmethair” Perry’s posterior end.
Then again . . .

I live in California. We are no longer in deficit. We are in debt, but that’s good. It’s ironic though that when we had Republicans for governors and the Democratic party was not the super-majority, we were always trouble. It was the Republican that created the Proposition 13 mess which created the disaster we’re in.
Now that we have a super-majority in the Senate and Assembly, we’re getting the high speed rail going. More jobs. We are building more wind turbine and solar panels as well as hydroelectric plants to cut costs on electricity…more jobs. A group of liberals
will beARE pushing for a state bank so that corporations can take out low-interest loans and with a 2-3% interest; which will go into the general fund and we can actually cut taxes.Which could lead to:
Single payer health
Affordable or free education
Charter-free schools
Building more schools
Reinvest in infrastructure safety
And a host of other SOCIALIST programs that would rebuild California as well as make us the most wealthiest country in the world if we secede. If California were a country, we would be the eighth wealthiest nation in the world…as of right now.
Oh and for you right-winged haters out there? We would be taxed the highest in the nation so that your fascist state would receive more money from us so your Republican governors would not kill you off.
Jerry is a great governor, and we have a lot of work ahead of us.

My God, do you mean that part of this country might actually catch up to Europe as far as being a society?

Don’t let that idiot Perry fool anyone. The only reason Texas has lower unemployment than California is because of Oil. Texas has a lower per capita income and a higher poverty rate than California. When Texas runs out of oil in the future it will finish dying. Only forward looking States like California will prosper. High quality businesses know this. That’s why California will continue to attract the best and brightest. A $24,000 radio add buy? What a joke. Who are they trying to attract. Certainly not the young and technology savy business people of today.
