Cave Pig Rush Limbaugh Blames The Emotional Decisions of Women for Ruining TV
Rush Limbaugh is claiming that the emotional decisions of women, and shows like HBO’s Girls are ruining television.
Transcript from Rush Limbaugh:
“As a female news editor on a TV newscast deciding what to show and what not to show. The chickification of the news. In fact, in the stack I have a story about that. Some guy, I think his name is Nolte, I have to find this. It’s in the stack here and it’s not a very big stack today, I’ll get to it, about the chickification of television and how more and more women are determining what everybody watches on TV.
This guy cites this rave show on HBO, starring Lena Dunham. Is that her name? The woman did the commercial for Obama saying, “Your first time is really important”? Yeah. First time. Don’t just do it with any guy. You know, pick from five or six. And she was talking about your first vote. Well, she’s got this show on HBO called Girls. That show. Now, if you knew nothing other — and let me do a test, Snerdley, you react. What do you know of that show? So you watched 20 minutes, fine. What is your impression of that show, as you listen to media buzz, Lena Dunham’s all over the place. She’s a guest on Letterman. She’s apparently the architect for what young women ought to be today. What is the impression that you have? The show is huge, right? Is that the impression you get in the media?
Everybody’s watching, everybody. And that show’s cutting edge. Only 600,000 viewers. That is this guy’s point, not even a million. Fewer viewers than The Daily Show. This has been my point all along about media buzz, how they go out and create this notion that something’s hotter and more popular than anything in the world, when it isn’t. And his point is that you’ve gotta be very careful in assessing what really is popular and what really isn’t and how things that aren’t popular are kept on the air by virtue of buzz or bias or what have you. And his point was that it’s because women are making programming decisions on an emotional basis. I am just telling you what he said.”
Rush’s rant was based one of the most poorly researched pieces of ratings comparison ever written. Over at Breitbart, one of their crack geniuses is contending that reruns of “The O’Reilly Factor” are more popular than HBO’s Girls. His conclusion is that the success of “Girls” is nothing but left wing hype by the mainstream media. Of course, this right wing “intellectual giant” doesn’t bother to tell his readers that HBO is pay channel with 25-30 million US subscribers while Fox News is available in 90 million American homes. Fox News is in more than twice as many homes, so they should have twice as many viewers. Something would be seriously wrong if they didn’t. In the facts optional conservative mind O’Reilly beats all, so the “liberal mainstream media” are a bunch of liars.
Limbaugh is blaming the decline of television on the fact that women are getting some limited opportunities to put their visions on the small screen. “Girls” is a great show. It speaks volumes about Rush Limbaugh as a man that he is so intimidated by it. Tina Feys’ “30 Rock” just concluded a great and innovative run.
What Rush Limbaugh, the right, and the mainstream media all don’t seem to understand is that having more diversity makes your product stronger. The Republican Party is at one of their lowest points because they are being dominated by the views of white men.
Women are the majority in this country, but you wouldn’t know it from listening to Republicans, their media, or even watching television. Old guard relics like Rush Limbaugh are being phased out as new, younger, and hopefully more female minds populate our television and media.
More women in executive positions in media and television aren’t the problem. They’re the future.

I have never seen this girls show, but I’m sure that it makes me happy to know that rush is calling everything on TV left wing. That just could be a few more people that look up and say hey I have a few shows I like and I’m not left-wing, could rush be lying?
I am all for him calling everything he can left wing especially when it comes to women. Women are smarter than your average bolt of lightning. And if any women are stupid enough to watch Rush’s show than they deserve what they get if they stay there.
If Rush doesn’t like what’s on TV, guess what? He can change the channel and watch some gun show that’ll help him with his erectile dysfunction problem

Golly gee, Rush. When I was a young girl, you know what was on in my house? Rawhide, Combat, The Rifleman, Bonanza, I Dream of Jeanie, and cartoons. Other than Barbara Eden, there was rarely a female on any of those shows. In fact, to see a woman, one had to watch Ed Sullivan or Merv Griffin. I grew up thinking women either had to sing or be funny (Totie Fields) to get on TV. When Diahann Carroll became the first black female lead, it was a big thing. Bet Rush hated her too. Tough crap, Rush. You don’t watch TV anyway..you’re too busy reading Breitbart to get your marching orders for the next day’s hatefest. I heard you today calling liberals anti-Christian, against the Founding Fathers, and anti-Americans. Where do you get off? I go to church. I love this country more than you do, and I have never been arrested for trying to smuggle narcotics from Cuba, you big blowhard. Oh, and I have been married to my high school sweetheart for 37 years, and have worked since I was 15. So much for this lazy liberal crap you like to spew.

His listeners will simply go to church and start adding to or taking away from it, have a glass of Kool-Aid, they don’t have to open the mixed nuts (as they themselves are the item). Sing Amazing grace and tell their pew friends that BUTT enzymes causes AIDS.

Well goodie – just tar everyone else as he does. Read Sally above and apologize to her. And remember it was the liberal faith community in the lead on every civil rights issue in America and they STILL ARE. You’d not bother to notice since the MSM and Rush ignore or disparage us, but we’re out there changing things for the better. We don’t listen to Rush at all. We are in front on LGBT equality – just READ the stories about the denominations validating church leadership with gay and lesbian clergy and bishops. Did that waaay ahead of many in the secular community.
If we demand that Rush stops talking like a thug, pronouncing all people he dislikes as evil, then we need to do the same. I’m tired of supporting your rights only to have you ignore mine. Might as well be fighting the Catholic bishops it’s that much fun dealing with the closed minded bigotry of anti-faith zealots. Sally absolutely rocks, is in the lead on issues YOU care about and so am I and everyone – millions – with whom I march, work, and lead.
Progressives still don’t have that many friends yet. You really do need all you can get.

The reason the republican party has reached it’s lowest point is because it’s agenda is being dictated by the evangelical church. As long as the church is against gays and abortion the party cannot change. Further more, the small churches in the deep south still are segregated and they want to keep it that way.

It’s not necessarily evangelicals who have in their ranks many quite progressive and thoughtful people.
The ones you and I and every progressive person needs to fear are DOMINIONISTS. That’s Pentecostals and non-denominational extremists, not mainline folks, not evangelicals, but those so far outside Christian thought as to be in another dimension they themselves made up. It’s important to keep those distinctions and not bash those with whom we can work.

Limbaugh has been bashing women on air for over 20 yrs!! what else is new?? I tried to listen to him back in the 90′s but his gutter style and calling women ”FEMANAZI’S” turned me off!! But understand this, look at his audience! mostly male, mostly white, typically rural, typically high school educated or below typically over 65 yrs or older!! The females who stomach his misogyny are usually low self esteem, Stepford housewife types who believe their place is in the kitchen and popping out babies till her uterus wears out!!
