Chris Matthews Kneecaps Sarah Palin’s Look At Me I Can Be President Too Tour
On Hardball, host Chris Matthews along with guests David Corn and Eugene Robinson got all Tonya Harding on Sarah Palin’s celebrity swing through India and Israel. Matthews hit Palin for being a Christian yet skipping Bethlehem. David Corn compared the trip to Charlie Sheen doing a video and calling it Shakespeare, and Matthews said that expecting Palin to read a book was setting the bar too high.
Here is the video from MSNBC:

My how the media attitude on Sarah Palin has changed since 2008. Here is what Chris Matthews had to say about Palin’s performance in the 2008 VP debate with Joe Biden, “I think she’s an extremely appealing politician. Her energy level was much better than Biden’s. I think Biden lost a little speed there during the evening. I think she came across terrific in terms of presentation.”
Using Chris Matthews as our example, how did Palin go from getting a free pass in the media to now being justifiably criticized by both the left and the right? What many old hand politicos on both sides saw in Sarah Palin was a person with natural talent, and they were thinking that if she went back to Alaska after 2008, studied up, and worked hard, she could be a viable presidential candidate in 2012.
Much of the disenchantment with Palin from the Bill Kristol, George Will, and Chris Matthews types comes from the fact that she has chosen to take the lazy way out, and not study. She is not interested in picking up a newspaper or a book. She is happy with getting into celebrity feuds with the likes of Kathy Griffin, attacking the media from her undisclosed Twitter and Facebook secret locations, and generally polluting our national political dialogue with her divisive, half baked, hate filled ideas.
Sarah Palin has completely wasted any credibility and political talent that she once had. She is now the political equivalent of Charlie Sheen. She could have been so much more, but she is instead a rambling, babbling, mess of a human being, who is a source of national embarrassment. (Speaking of Charlie, he has a better chance of ever being elected president than she does, at least according to recent polling).
Palin deserved all the mocking that she got from Matthews, Corn, and Robinson. Sarah Palin is a stunted child who is still contesting the 2008 election. The nation has changed and grown. Sarah Palin has not. Besides picking up a paycheck in India, the purpose of her little jaunt was to say to America, “Look at me, I can be president too. If Obama can do it, I can do it.” Her threat to us is that if we won’t pay attention to her and her worn out drill, baby drill sideshow, she’ll go overseas and make us pay attention to her.
Sarah Palin has become the political equivalent of Glenn Close in Fatal Attraction. America regrets the one night stand they had with Palin, but now she has broken into our house and is ready to boil our bunny. Sarah Palin is America’s ultimate political stalker. It all makes you wonder where Michael Douglas is when we need him most.

Meanwhile the nitwit is posing as a very undiplomatic diplomat, suggesting the country the USA owes $3+ trillion to might be a threat to America. And stood squarely on the side of her corporate overlords while in India, essentially agreeing with her bosses that outsourcing American jobs to India was a wonderful idea.
The most disgusting part of her sojourn is that she attacked Pres. Obama on foreign soil AGAIN — “less dithering, more decisiveness” — as if she was privy to whatever delicate sanction discussions took place at the UN Security Council.
She should be arrested for sedition when she returns to the USA.

I say the citizen from Alaska should at least be debriefed. Because of her international inexperience, she could have given away some secrets without even realizing.
I say enforce the Logan Act in regards to the citizen from Alaska, the minute she returns to America.

Karen, one of the other problems is that Palin just reacts, she thinks because she says something as “President”, it would be done with a snap of her fingers. She is clueless as to behind the scenes negotiation and NEVER gave the UN Security Council a thought. In fact, she’d be hard pressed to describe the process of anything being approved by the council at the UN.
$arah also didn’t answer the question that was asked when he said, “what would you do?” More decisiveness, less dithering….sure, Sarah, but what decisions would you make?? The woman is delusional but dangerous. She should not be allowed to speak and I’m sure someone in the GOP is going to have something to say to her that she won’t want to hear when she gets back in the U.S.

As per KarenJ post “PALIN should be arrested for sedition when she returns to the USA “Seditious Libel”
Sedition is the stirring up of rebellion against the government in power.
Sedition laws somewhat equate to Terrorism

Palin and her ilk are the current live versions of William Hurt’s character in “Broadcast News.”

The whole key is what Mathews said. She has not made the attempt to learn. Having a mouthpiece who does your twitter for you is not learning. She has absolutely nothing that anyone in their right mind could call presidential. No curiosity, no understanding you cant get by on shits n giggles, no knowledge of anything which is why she never presents a policy of any type.
She wont run.

Palin is a joke to anyone with one functioning brain cell. It doesn’t take a whole brain to see that there’s no THERE there. Palin is a perpetual machine of criticism. The one thing she needs to be able to do, she can’t, and that’s offer solutions to America’s problems.
I also need to inform you that Palin is a bona fide socialist. While she’s been running around the country trying to convince people with small brains that President Obama is a socialist, she’s the real thing. This article was posted at the Alaska Dispatch by one of her own citizens. Please read it and stop letting Palin and others do your thinking for you.

This article validates what liberals have been saying all along about Palin’s claim that President Obama is a socialist. It is also an example that she is so dumb that she didn’t know that she was governor of America’s most socialist state—Alaska!

It was only a matter of time before Palin’s dog and pony show would eventually wear thin with even conservatives. She is a first-class buffoon with no social consciousness, no knowledge of international or national affairs, no diplomatic skills, no empathy, and no class. She is someone whose ambition completely outstrips her intelligence, and she has proven to have nothing of value to offer as a politician, least of all in the presidency.
Unfortunately, she is just part of the problem, since there are Tea Partier governors in Wisconsin, Michigan, and other states, who are equally soulless and clueless. From their positions, they are capable of doing damage that will outlast their gubernatorial terms.

I love what Matthews said…they work at it. Sarah does not believe she has to, has no interest, and if I did not trust human instinct and intelligence so much, I would be embarrassed as an American, that she is India doing her act. But I believe rational people see right through her, and most so every day. One can only hope, that one day, she will be in the history books as Pop Culture Icon…who also ran…and ran…and quit…and babbled…you get the picture.

Had a great headline lurking in here, Jason, Pulitzer-stuff:
“On Hardball, host Chris Matthews along with guests David Corn and Eugene Robinson got all Tonya Harding on Sarah Palin’s celebrity swing through India and Israel.”
Great article and I think it’s telling that Chris Matthews has done such a turnaround. He’s not exactly “Mr. Liberal”; I remember with distaste his trumpeting Republican victories in each debate.

How could the expected debate with Joe Biden honestly be called a “debate”? Palin pageant walked onto the stage, asked if she could call him Joe (apparently she could not get into her head that his name was NOT O’Biden, according to McCain aides) Then she informed Gwen Ifill that she would not be answering any questions, but would talk about what SHE felt was important. Then and there, people should have seen her for what she is, empty-headed, former runner-up beauty queen, self-promoting fraud. She will not run for president, but hang on to the last minute to collect money from deluded people who believe her drivel.

It WAS no debate to speak of. Most of the time, it looked like it was all Biden could do to keep from laughing. I don’t blame him, because as always, she made a ridiculous spectacle of herself. Her lemmings think she was being “mavericky” by refusing to answer questions, but the fact is that she COULD NOT answer them. One of two things will happen. Either she will hang on to the last minute, collecting money from gullible fools, or she will run and get soundly defeated in such a way that she’ll be forced to concede that the majority of Americans don’t want her. Either way, her foolish fans will get a long overdue reality check.

the instant she said she was not taking or responding to any questions the debate should’ve been called off her. Just to let her know that there is a purpose to political debates. That would have been devastating to the McCain ticket and show the American public what a foolish move it was to pick her for vice president and what a total lack of knowledge she had. She continues that stereotype today with her claims that the media is out to destroy her. She is just holding them at arms length to make sure that she does not have to answer any content fiilled questions

She may have Chris Matthews and the like fooled, but not the rest of us! Everybody knows the minute she’s out from under the FOX UMBRELLA she becomes fair game and ends up looking uninformed and insincere just like Donald Trump, in it for the attention.

What amazes me is that any of the pundits originally gave this woman a pass.
Why the hell should a woman who is the governor of a state and is almost fifty years old be expected to go home and LEARN about geopolitics, legislation an the like. She should KNOW this all by now. This never would have stood if she were a man. They would have laughed her off the stage.
Palin has knocked women’s rights over the head with one of her big ugly crosses and her moronic winks.

So, are you in support of Palin and all her inanities? All Matthews has done is to point out what has been obvious to those of us posting on this site, as well as millions of other Americans since 2008. Palin is driven to put herself out there, due to her insatiable need for attention, and invariably makes a fool of herself. She is still seething in anger and disbelief over the results of the 2008 presidential election, and is laboring under the delusion that her presence at the top of the ticket would have resulted in a different outcome, in the GOP’s favor. Actually, they would have lost by an even bigger margin if she had been the presidential candidate.
Whether you like either Matthews or Schultz is beside the point, since a growing number of conservatives are equally critical of her–especially the GOP establishment. Just as her tone-deaf, self-pitying speech on Tucson turned even more Americans away from her, her “performance” in India cemented the fact that she is a sad joke there as she is in most foreign countries.

I think what Bubbles was implying is that Matthews’ track record on “punditizing” about Palin has been all over the map. As you may recall, Matthews used to wax eloquently about Palin’s appeal. Heck, he still has her prominently displayed on the intro to his show.
Many people discerned Palin’s flaws during her very first speech at the RNC. She has done nothing since then but reinforce the opinion that she’s one shallow, vindictive twit. Why did it take Matthews so long to figure it out? As a result, I don’t have much respect for Chris Matthews either, even though I agree with his current (but tardy) assessment of Palin.

Actually, Jason, it was Anne Archer’s character (Michael Douglas’ character’s wife) who took Glenn Close’s character out. Which makes me realize that I’d really love for a Republican, female politician to sock it to Palin. That would be sweet.
