I’d feel much better if Obama were to get an endorsement from someone viewed as objective and whose integrity is beyond reproach. The loss of backers like Carter, while probably not swaying many votes outright, add to the din of discontent instead of presenting a unified front. (It is sad that they critized him for not doing enough, like they didn’t see and understand all the forces at play. To me, that is the epitome of throwing the baby with the bathwater, but i digress).

I would give just about anything for someone like Colin Powell to come out and say: “this is the way it was.., these are the facts.., this is b.s…, this is the way it should be.., and this is what we will do..,” It really feels like Obama has been abandoned to fend by himself on this one.

I do not remember the specifics, but after the Clinton proceedings, I recall waiting for someone to step up and put things into perspective, to heal the nation. So we could look at each other again, and life could go on. It was a few days, but if memory serves, there was a congressman who came forward as the statesman the country needed, and put everything back on track with an enspired speech. I want a statesman like that for our president. Carter had his chance, but instead, he decided to self promote his human rights work and slam the president for not living up to his expectations (digressing again, sorry).

So, somebody get Colin on the phone, and tell him this is his legacy, this is his time to stand up and be heard, this is his time to put GW behind him and lead the nation by inspiration.
Because it is the right thing to do.

The seed for the Ryan Budget plan was planted in 1934 with the “Business Plot”. The bankers angry at FDR for creating SSI and NOT getting the peoples money to hold attempted to over throw the government. The plan was to destroy not only SSI but all social programs like unemployment insurance, labor laws to protect unions , the SEC and all banking regulation. If the Republicans get the White House. Americans will be crying like the Germans after WWII. “How did we let this happen”.

I’m not trying to be a party-pooper, but what’s the take on republicans being poised to purge an estimated 5M democratic votes? There’s just not enough noise for voter suppression.

Corporate spending and contributions from the super wealthy are dwarfing what the President – or Democrats at almost every level of government – are raising. Whatever we think, feel or say in these spaces, the GOP, corporatism and the far right will win in November, if we don’t reach into our own pockets and give – freely – between now and November 4th. if you believe this is a true or worthwhile sentiment, please feel free to copy/paste/share !
