Skeet Birthers Freak Out Over President Obama Shooting Picture

That didn’t take long. Skeet birthers are now a real thing. David Plouffe thought he was making a funny, but no.

This morning the White House released a photo of President Obama skeet shooting to prove his claim that yes, he does skeet shoot. That picture prompted David Plouffe to tweet with glee, “Attn skeet birthers. Make our day – let the photoshop conspiracies begin!”

The very, very scared boys over at Breitbart are complying, leading with headlines like, “Media Follows Obama’s Orders to Mock Skeet-Gate Skeptics.” Remember when the press used to question power? The Breitbart writer asks sadly.

According to Breitbart, on the way to steal all of your guns, Obama is trying to fool the public into thinking he’s moderate on gun safety so he put out a picture of him skeet shooting…

Only, there’s something funny about the angle of that gun. Do read on:

Today, however, the White House released a photo that purports to show Obama (love that tucked-in shirt) shooting skeet last August. Except… he’s shooting straight ahead, which means that there’s either a barn door somewhere in need of some patching, or Obama is such an awesome skeet shooter, he hits them as they come out of the firing device.

I keed, I keed. There are legitimate reasons that would explain the angle of his gun, but….

Because the photo is odd, some are asking perfectly legitimate questions.

But not the media.

What did the media do?

Because the media no longer questions or is skeptical of Power, and instead sees its role as protector of The State, the media mocked those who were skeptical

The ODD gun angle! I curse you, lamestream media! Mock us at your peril!

The “media and the state are now one” because Plouffe mocked the skeet birthers and the media followed. It couldn’t have been because Breitbart writers are so primitive and reactionary that they don’t know when they are being set up, right?

Here little birther, come and get the skeet skeptic.

Of course they bit. Gun angle! SKEET GATE! David Plouffe tweeted in response, “Day made. The skeet birthers are out in full force in response to POTUS pic. Makes for most excellent, delusional reading. #whereistrump”

Skeet birthers, the whole world is laughing at you. Yes, really. For days we’ve been laughing, but today you really jumped the skeet shark.

Skeet Gate isn’t new; it’s been firing on all desperate cylinders for a few days. Conservative Underground is deep into SkeetGate, which they attribute to “The Truth About Guns”. Obama lied! How do they know? Fox News has an anonymous source who says Obama only went shooting a few times and couldn’t wait to get outta there! A commenter laments, “Because of Obama’s own admission of using drugs (and I think I remember in one of his books mentioning depression), maybe we need more secret service around him to protect others when he is at Camp David, of course this would mean if he is telling the truth.”

The Washington Post felt compelled to factcheck SkeetGate, in what I can only hope for their sake is satire. Glenn Kessler was dubious of the President’s claim, because there were no pictures. (Covering the big issues, Kessler explains his high standards by comparing SkeetGate to Romney’s taxes — I kid you not. Please let this be satire.) Then the pictures were released today and so the WaPo had to pack up their false equivalency into pending status, but not for lack of effort. Kessler is so “balanced” he’s in danger of tipping over.

(Remember when we couldn’t say Romney didn’t pay all of his taxes for a certain year because we didn’t KNOW, even though Romney refused to release his returns? Well, see, now that logic is used in reverse. Until Obama proves he did what he said he did as many times as he said he did, all bets are off! However, let Mitt Romney make any claim he wants about his taxes, even with his history of lying about his taxes, and we must all assume he’s telling the truth.)

Conservatives have fallen once again into the President’s trap to distract them from reality while the grown ups get some work done. Another weekend news cycle is owned by the President, as the conservatives go birther on the skeet shooting picture.

They can’t help themselves – the tea brewed paranoia is so strong, and they can’t resist their daily hit of Obama hate crack.

Guess who looks like a moderate now, boys? Hint: NOT YOU.
