The ignorance and insularity among many on the right cause them to ignore the fact that many African-Americans also have Anglo-Saxon ancestors and relatives, like President Obama’s mother was. Halle Berry’s mother has the same heritage, as well. While some of that ancestry among African-Americans stems from slavery, some of it also stems from inter-racial marriages. Eddie Murphy’s former wife, Nicole, also has a British mother. My point here is that the demographics of this country are changing and those changes include not only more non-whites but also more people from mixed marriages. These are facts that point to the cluelessness of the likes of Willard, who is the poster child for the racism of many who want to vote President Obama out of office.

In addition, I find this article to be informative for shedding light on the fact that this country and Great Britain have not always been in lockstep on important issues. Of course, that’s another reality that’s too nuanced and complex for the likes of many on the far right.
