Obama Refuses to Allow Romney to Run Away from His Bashing of the 47%
By: Sarah JonesOct. 5th, 2012more from Sarah Jones
Mitt Romney tried to walk away from his 47% comments last night by calling them “wrong”. Not so fast, says the Obama campaign.
As highlighted in OFA’s new web video, when it comes to Mitt Romney’s disdain for the middle class, “he said, he meant it.”
Watch here:
Mitt Romney is now bracketing himself. For weeks, he’s stood by his comments to high-dollar donors that 47% of the American people see themselves as “victims” who live off the government and won’t take “personal responsibility” for their lives. But now, just like in Wednesday’s debate, he’s not telling the truth about what he really thinks about the nearly half of all Americans, including veterans, seniors, disabled Americans, and middle class families, that he wrote off behind closed doors.
Romney confirmed that he stood by his nasty comments for days after he was busted, but now he suddenly wants to take them back. Too bad he hasn’t changed his policies any to reflect his new alleged sentiments of compassion.

Poor Mitt. He lies and gts caught. He cheats at the debate by bringing notes along, and is about to ge busted for that. People STILL don’t like him. And he’s right about one thing. The 47% and millions more will NEVER vote for him. Nor will we vote for any Republican until they start caring about the country instead of their bank accounts and their ties to their lobbyist buddies. The Constitution they are so proud of (mis)quoting says “We the People” all of us. Did you notice he never says ‘people’ except in disdain? He said ‘the 47%’ in the video and now is is all about ‘the 100%.’ Of what? We are people Mitt, not born in a golden cradle like you…we have had to work to become middle class. My dad worked in a non-union sweatshop until it killed him at 61. My mom worked fulltime into her 70′s and is now trying to enjoy her retirement. I have been working at least part-time for 45 years. My husband has been with the same company for 35 years. We own our home, both low-mileage cars, and our kids, both employed and never on any ‘help’, got through college not because of our name, but because they earned scholarships and worked hard. WE are America. You are a lying creep.

I couldn’t have said it better. You are a perfect example of those dismissed by this man when you should be congratulated.

Hey Thurston, thanks for further blunting any trajectory you might’ve gotten in the debates. This could’ve been moved off everyone’s radar if you had kept your trap shut. Instead you assumed you got over on everyone by lying and cheating at the debates, so hey—why not continue to do so?
It’s gonna be sooooooooo sweet when that smirk is permanently wiped off your stinking, cheating, lying face next month!

I hear ya. I can’t wait to see his face as he’s giving his concession speech. One can only hope that now fact checkers, the media and social networks are outling his many lies told in the debate, people are begining to realise style and lies are not going to create jobs and put food on
their tables.
This man has no core, moral or otherwise, he has no substance and his entire career and his policies bear that out . His only wish is to be POTUS to cap off his career, the American people who should matter do not figure into his equation. It’s about having his name in the history books with the title, POTUS.

Let’s see, he goes on Fox News and then says he didn’t mean it. Really? He didn’t look sincere to me. He said it and he meant it. He kept repeating it.

Romney is backtracking because he knows his butt is in trouble. He’s not only watching the national polls and the swing state polls, he’s also watching the electoral college count. He’s been stuck at under 200 ECVs for weeks. Phil Gingrey, a House GOP snake from my state (GA) went to bat for him this morning and said that conservatives like him realize that Romney has to move to the middle to win. Good luck with that at this late date. If Gingrey thinks we don’t know that Romney’s move to the center is only temporary, he’s the biggest tool in DC. If Romney is the next POTUS, he’ll screw republican, democratic, and independent voters alike. Gingrey was one of the main GOPers continually pushing Romney farther to the right, and he has been one of the main obstructionists in the House. IMO, Romney’s reversal of course at this point makes him look like even more of a shape-shifter, and it makes him look like someone who will say/do anything to win the election next month. I don’t know who advised Romney to move to the center this late in the game because it makes him look more untrustworthy than he already does. I’ve heard many on the Left criticize PBO about his debate performance this week, and I’m glad they aren’t one of his advisers. After the debate, independents’ support for PBO improved by 8 percentage points. Romney said that he knows he has to appeal to independents, but their reaction to his debate performance didn’t result in more support for him, but it did for PBO.

You are speaking the truth, brotha or sista Georgian! No wonder Georgia has higher unemployment figures with people like Gingrey, Isaakson, and Chambliss representing us. They are the “Georgia TeaParty Gang”! All they care about is making President Obama a one-term President, no matter what happens to the country.

Mitt Romney would not know the truth if it bit him on his butt.
The only other public figure I have seen who can come close —- close but still not catch him— is Sarah Palin.
Mitt Romney is also Mormon and let us not forget the acceptance in his religion of “Lying For God.”
I am sure the sanction given him by his religion contributes to his narcissistic magical thinking that also supports his RIGHT to lie, anywhere, any time, and even if it contradicts what he said moments earlier, or days or weeks earlier.
Narcissist think they have God’s backing on whatever they do anyway, so to have the additional support of his recognized religion puts him in a postion where he can NEVER feel he has done anything wrong and where he can ALWAYS feel the victim.
As much as I am disgusted by this man I still feel sorry for him. In the morning he will wake up and be him. With my own faults, I prefer waking up to being me–
Still, as much of a loser as Romney is, let us not assume anything.
Remember to vote and drag your friends with you ! ! ! !

His attempts to move to the center were too little, too late. All they have done is to reinforce his unflattering image as a lying flip-flopper. He’s only doing this because he got caught making his contemptible remarks about the 47% and has been in hot water ever since. It’s a striking example of Republican cynicism that they would think tacking to the center would make any rational, thinking human being forget what their actual policies are. That cynicism is based on their hope and belief that enough gullible fools will believe them to vote Willard as president. If likeability is another factor in “winning” a debate, then he is a failure in that respect–both because of his own persona and because of his deception in denying the policies he has proposed for months.

This man will sell his children to be president. Imagine what he’ll do to the 47% of us. He has no moral compass.

My step dad used to tell me that elections were about voting for the lesser of evils. No politician can be fully trusted. The simple reality is that constitutionally, the president is ultimately a figurehead; a scapegoat with power diminished by a bipartisan congress that seems to little or interest in cooperating for the benefit of the people.
Having said that, I find it amusing that Mr. Romney and his right wing goons find it so convenient to attack presidential policies that they have blatantly refused to cooperate or offer FEASIBLE alternatives for. Mr. Obama, on the other hand, has been the equivalent of one those TV house cleaners who goes into the home of a hoarder. After 8 years of republican administration that led to the collapse the american economy, he has done the best that he could, within the the limits of his power, to clean up someone else’s mess.
And what, do you suppose, the right wing has to say about the drop in unemployment to 7.8%? Better still, it isn’t even people just not filing or expiring their benefits. People are going back to work… the economy is recovering. Progress is rarely fast… I highly doubt that empires are built over night.

It took Bush 8 years to collapse the empire….how could anyone think that it can be rebuilt in the 6 months the GOP wanted when they began their bitching and whining. It would have helped had they not REFUSED to help the recovery and the unemployment. The party of “HELL NO” will become the party of “Non-Exist.”

I wrote a piece after the debate it went something like this – The President had a coherant story told with civility. Romney – told his story with disdain, almost to the point of disrespecting – too aggresive, continous flip flopping. At the same time he took advantage of a moderator who was clueless. I would like to see more phrase or mention of the (a) Obstructionist Congress (b) 47% (c) positive job growth (d) womens issues. I think the debate was a good wake up call for the Dems, dont be complacement. Republicans think they will trump over the VP – I think Biden will be a loose cannon, and just have to keep reminding Ryan of his record…

I really think there’s something wrong with that man. I think he would make out with a goat on live TV if he thought it would get him elected.
