In opposition to most opinions expressed here, I believe McCain is likely to bomb precisely on the issues people believe he is most strong on, that’s because on every single point Obama’s plan is the more tactical and thought through one, based on the majority of political and military experts alone. McCain is simply rated higher in these areas not because of the positions he is propagating, but simply the fact most Republicans have not heard Obama talk about his points directly.

It will quickly become apparent that Obama does not promote a cut and run approach in Iraq but rather a two year tactical re-alignment of force to back up pressure on Iran, Russia, and the insurgency in Afghanistan, which are at this point obviously more threatening to America’s national security. Obama is going to defang McCain in 3.5 minutes and it probably won’t be pretty.

I found it quite interesting when McCain initially bowed out of the first Presidential Debate (dependent on whether the bail-out legislation went through prior to the scheduled debate date, of course). He’s losing supporters due, in part, to his stance on the economy. I watched both party’s conventions. McCain espoused the government staying out of things – normal Republican rhetoric. The fact that there haven’t been tougher regulations concerning mortgage lending and Wall Street is one of the main reasons our economy is in the shape it is in today. McCain’s stance would continue to breed disaster. Big Business almost always puts profits before the best interest of the average American. Without government controls, there’s no protection. His stance on the economy will stand out like a sore thumb during the debate.

I had to laugh when McCain then suggested the first debate between Presidential candidates be held in lieu of the scheduled Vice-Presidential candidates’ debate. Sarah Palin versus Joe Biden? Give me a break. Clear winner there. Palin will lose big time. The differences in experience are HUGE! If, heaven forbid, McCain were to kick the bucket while in office, can anyone in their right mind want Palin to be President? I cringed when I read she met with foreign leaders while at the UN. Hilary Clinton she is not!

I agree 100% with you. McBush will have to answer some very hard questions tonight. Ones he will not wish to answer.
