You seem to be under the impression (delusion?) that Obama is getting ready to lock this thing up. Its still early October. There is a LOOOOONG way to go.

    Ted,

This is a critical point in this election cycle. You seem to have misunderstood the piece. I am not saying that Obama could lock this up, but that McCain could lose it, and no there really isn’t a long way to go. Without closing the gap tonight, McCain has less than 4 weeks and only one more debate to get it done. I don’t think that Obama can win it tonight, but if McCain isn’t careful, he could lose it.

is act Presidential, but not too distant, not too stiff, and not too long-winded. Then he can just sit back and let McCain hang himself.

I think that McCain will be better prepared tonight. Why have so few people talked about his campaign “suspending” and running back to Washington, hurt his debate prep? I expect that McCain will be better, but my gut tells me that a lot of people have already moved to Obama, and it is going to take something major to shift them back.

Obama did go to Washington too, but the difference is what they did. Obama stayed in touch with the situation and continued to focus on the debate, while McCain was on the Hill trying to chase media coverage. Obama was in Mississippi before McCain who only showed up hours before airtime. McCain stunt hurt him before the debate. My guess is that he will be ok tonight, but Obama has all of the momentum, and will look good too.
