Before Joining Fox News, Glenn Beck Supported Federal Bailouts

Here is a real non shocker. Before Glenn Beck joined Fox News he not only supported the $700 billion bailout of Wall Street, but also called on the government to spend even more. On September 22, 2008 on CNN Beck said, “But these are anything but normal times. I thought about it an awful lot this weekend, and while it takes everything in me to say this, I think the bailout is the right thing do.”

While on CNN Headline News, Beck said, “To put it in another way, we are in the middle of an all-out financial emergency, and emergencies have a way of really testing people. In normal times, under normal circumstances, if you tune in to me, you know me as somebody who would tell the federal government exactly where to take their bailout plan and shove it right up their you know what. But these are anything but normal times. I thought about it an awful lot this weekend, and while it takes everything in me to say this, I think the bailout is the right thing do.”

He continued, “The “REAL STORY” is the $700 billion that you`re hearing about now is not only, I believe, necessary, it is also not nearly enough, and all of the weasels in Washington know it. You think about this crisis again like an airplane, ok. We could have stopped this whole thing when the plane was sitting at the gate and we were saying don`t load this thing up with easy money and make mansions for anybody who wants them. You can`t take off in this plane. It`s unsafe. Nobody listened.”

It is interesting how a change of employer has managed to change Glenn Beck’s positions. Now that Beck is with Fox News, he is Mr. Anti-federal spending, and anti-bailouts. Beck seemed to be ok with taxpayers’ dollars going to Wall Street, but he was opposed to the Obama stimulus for the rest of America.

Of course what more would you expect from a supposed man of the people who just happens to pull down $30 million a year in income. Glenn knows where his bread is buttered. It is not the least bit shocking that he has completely forgotten about CNN Glenn Beck, but this is why he should not be taken seriously. In his own terms, Glenn Beck is no political prophet. He is nothing more than a rodeo clown, looking to entertain.
