In Victory Speech Clinton says she will Never Quit

ImageIn her victory speech tonight, Hillary Clinton tried to use her victory in West Virginia to make a claim to the superdelegates that she is the Democrat who can be the strongest candidate in the fall.

"I am more determined than ever to carry on this campaign until everyone has had a chance to make their voices heard. This race isn't over yet. Neither of us has the total delegates it takes to win," Clinton said.

Clinton made a plea for supporters to visit her website and donate to her campaign. She also reiterated her own version of the number of delegates needed to win the nomination, which she says is 2,209. Clinton also called for all of the delegates to be seated in Michigan and Florida.

She had some words for those who want her to drop out of the race, "There are some who have wanted to cut this race short. They say, give up, it's too hard, the mountain is too high. But in West Virginia, you know a thing or two about rough roads to the top of the mountain. We know from the Bible that faith can move mountains, and, my friends, the faith of the Mountain State have moved me."

Clinton urged the unpledged superdelegates to, "Choose who you believe will make the strongest candidate in the fall. The White House is won in the swing states, and I am winning the swing states."

The problem with the path to the nomination that Clinton laid out is that she would need to pick up 80% of the pledged and remaining superdelegates, and get the delegates seated in Michigan and Florida as the states voted, for her to overtake Obama.

Her speech tonight had a very upbeat tone. There was no negativity or attacks on Obama. I think only the most diehard Hillary supporters believe that she still has a chance. She needs nothing short of an act of God in order to be the nominee. The question that is sneaking up on Clinton is what comes next for her after Obama officially becomes the Democratic nominee.
