Rep. Alan Grayson: Fox News Is the Enemy of America

Last updated on August 10th, 2014 at 05:07 pm

Rep. Alan Grayson (D-FL) was on MSNBC’s The Ed Show tonight where he called Fox News the enemy of America. He said they are the enemy of anyone who cares about healthcare, education, energy independence, peace, or anything good for America. Grayson said, “Fox News and their Republican collaborators are the enemy of America.”

Grayson said, “What do you do with a bully is you confront the bully and the bully backs down, and that is a good description of Fox News. People come on the air they insult them, as they did me. They cut off their mikes as they did me. They shout at them and interrupt them, as they did me and they even curse at them, as they did me, and why would anybody think that Fox News is some sort of valid news organization like that. Fox News and the National Inquirer are basically interchangeable.”

He also agreed with the White House strategy on Fox News, “It’s either that or ignore them the way most of America does. There’s 307 million Americans in this country, and barely 3 million of them have tuned into Fox News. That means 99% of Americans have the good sense to ignore them.”

Grayson said Fox News and the Republicans is the enemy of America, “You know Fox News and their Republican collaborators are the enemy of America. They’re the enemy of anybody who cares about healthcare in this country. The enemy of anybody who cares about educating their children, the enemy of everybody who wants energy independence in this country, or anything good for this country, and certainly the enemy of peace, there’s no doubt about that. They are the enemy.”

Wow, that was some hyper partisan rhetoric on the part of Rep. Grayson, and people wonder why Congress can’t work together to pass anything. Grayson has guts. He took the White House’s fairly mild criticism of Fox News to a whole new level. Personally, I don’t like to see any Americans being labeled an enemy of America.

In Grayson’s mind anybody who opposes the progressive agenda is an enemy of America. This is the same language that was used by the Republicans and George W. Bush after 9/11. I think this rhetoric has gone off of the deep end. It is about time that progressives challenge Fox News, but when we start to question the patriotism of others, we become no better than they are.
