My Five Favorite Hillary Clinton Quotes

ImageSen. Hillary Clinton is many things to many people. To some, she is pioneer who could be America’s first female president. To others, she is a political opportunist, who political views can change with the wind. Throughout her decades in public life it is difficult to get to know the real Hillary because she has fenced that part of herself off from public view, but there can be no doubt that Clinton is a tireless worker, who when she feels passionate about an issue, can be a moving speaker.

The collection of quotes below has been placed in no particular order. I tried to choose quotes that weren’t overly common, and could be sourced. (This was a tough task given the huge amount of information out there attributed to, and about Clinton). There is no political agenda here. My only goal is to give you a sense of the person and her views.

“I suppose I could have stayed home and baked cookies and had teas, but what I decided to do was to fulfill my profession which I entered before my husband was in public life.”

--- March, 1992 Press Conference

“We are and have always been a nation of opportunity -- a nation that believes in giving everyone a chance to make the most of their own lives. And of course we believe in responsibility. But when families are struggling, when they don't have the basic necessities that allow them to see these opportunities, we don't leave them to fend for themselves.”

--- Healthcare Speech Sept. 17, 2007

“I see an America where we stand up to the oil companies and the oil-producing countries, where we do launch a clean energy revolution and finally confront our climate crisis. I am well aware that we cannot be serious about our energy policy and our security, our environment, and our economy until the two oil men leave the White House. But when they do, we will be ready.”

--- Jefferson-Jackson Dinner Feb. 8, 2008

“We come to [the abortion] issue as men and women, young and old, some far beyond years when we have to worry about getting pregnant, others too young to remember what it was like in the days before Roe v. Wade. But I think it's essential that as Americans we look for that common ground that we can all stand upon. [Our] core beliefs and values. can guide us in reaching our goal of keeping abortion safe, legal and rare into the next century.”

--- Remarks to NARAL, Jan 22, 1999

“I believe in a zone of privacy.”

--- Press Conference, 2003

Hillary doesn't have quotes,

Hillary doesn't have quotes, she has sound bites, bland, polled, and ultimately forgettable. She lacks scruples. She's the end of Animal Farm.

I agree

I can't say that I disagree with you, but there is so much crap attributed to her, that I thought it was only fair to at least attribute some verified quotes to her, whether I disagree with her personally doesn't matter.
