Lieberman Attacks Obama’s Patriotism

ImageFormer Democratic turned “Independent” Senator Joe Lieberman (I-CT) took a not so veiled shot at Obama’s patriotism before he introduced John McCain in York, PA today.

“In my opinion, the choice could not be more clear: between one candidate, John McCain, who’s had experience, been tested in war and tried in peace, another candidate who has not. Between one candidate, John McCain, who has always put the country first, worked across party lines to get things done, and one candidate who has not. Between one candidate who’s a talker, and the other candidate who’s the leader America needs as our next candidate,’’ The Caucus blog quoted Lieberman as saying.

I am curious about what people like Lieberman and McCain think Obama has done that were not putting his country first? Is it because he wants to bring the troops home from a pointless war in Iraq? It is because Obama doesn’t always wear a flag lapel pin, or could be that the last name Obama doesn’t sound American enough for Lieberman?

I don’t know about you, but I grew tired of Lieberman’s act long ago. I think the Democrats should not allow him to caucus with them anymore when the new Congress comes into session in January. They should also take his committee chairmanship away from him. It is obvious that Lieberman isn’t a Democratic leaning Independent.

He has cast his lot with the Republican Party, so that is where he should be. The McCain camp is now completely quoting from the Karl Rove playbook. McCain is fear over hope and style over substance. If this is what Lieberman is supporting, then he doesn’t belong anywhere near the Democratic Party.

Radical Media and Radicals Supporting any Candidate

It seems to me, and I am not an expert, that the media and those supporting Obama do not see anything in Obama's makeup that is negative, all is positive and if anyone attacks him on any point of his platform or speaches or past beliefs, it is defended to the n'th degree by the media and democratic party. Now McCain is not all there is to be either. Both of them have faults and some of them are pretty substantial.

At least if someone like Keith Oberman(sp)start running his mouth on cable TV, I can change channels. I start reading many articles and stop because of the disregard of Mr. and and especially Mrs. Obama's past beliefs and statements, which many are defending and hoping will go away.

I think Obama will win the election, but he and the far left liberal democratic leadership will not be able to accomplish anywhere near what they have been stating for the past year +. If Demo's do push their agenda too hard, they will not be in office long. I expect Nancy Pelosi to be defeated in her district in next 4 years. Wannabe Dictators do not belong in democratic society.

The Republicans cannot stand properity and after they controlled Executive, senate and house for a period, they puffed up their chests and lost it over the last 2 elections.

The elected leaders and appointees are totally responsible for for our country's laws taxes and military(although executive branch controls military). There is too much blame attempted to put on others but the congress really controls 95-100% of it. They do not have to send what the executive branch wants.

There are 'only" 545 people in Washington DC that "CONTROL EVERYTHING IN THIS COUNTRY". Congress 435 Reps.,100 Senators, president and 9 Supreme Court Justices. Don't let them try to put the blame anywhere else.

There is a funny saying about our energy situation. "There is plenty of oil to supply us whereby we would have very little dependance on foreign oil; oil is off both East and West Coasts, Florida and ANWR. Problem is.....(get ready for this)... ALL OUR DIPSTICKS ARE IN WASHINGTON, DC."

There are just too many agendas and big heads that will not work together. In overall majority of issues, if someone from other party is for something, other party is against it.

If we keep this up, we will follow in Roman Empire and all other failed idealogies footsteps, even though we can see the handwriting on the wall. Shame on us!!!!

All of this from a right leaning democrat that voted for Obama in state primary because he was the best of the choices. Not sure if there is much choice for Nov. election. Vote for the least of two poor choices.

Lieberman

Sigh.

He just gets more and more pathetic.

Like you, I tired of him long ago.

Can I just say one thing about the McCain campaign, though? How 'bout that new commercial where they actually imply that: "hot girls like Obama." Wow. Keep 'em comin' John McCain--because (1) They truly do give me a chuckle and (2) they portray you as desperate, and out of touch with the youth of America and finally, (3) they deplete your finances while never once discussing the issues! Nice.

Anyone that knows me, knows that I'm not the most zealous supporter of Sen. Obama. I do think that the "change" mantra is overused, and that people aren't nearly critical enough of him. Some of my frustration lies in the fact that Obama does stand for many things I support, but he rarely discusses them--instead using the blanket term of change to cover all of his bases. I mean, he discusses them, but not nearly enough for my taste. For me, one of the most important issues out there is the Employee Free Choice Act. It offers hope for millions of workers in America. Hope that their jobs, which barely meet ends for them today, could become jobs with middle class wages and benefits through unionization. I know Obama supports this, only because I watch so much news and political whatnots (seriously, me and CSPAN are like THIS). My point--many people rarely read a newspaper, or think about politics at all, and yet vote, generally with the guidance of only rumor and perhaps headlines. I'd like to see more headlines that say things like "Obama takes a stand on improving workers rights" and fewer that say "Obama promises Change." My concern: that McCain's idiotic ads might just work! (eek! I just got shivers).

Just me, just how I feel. I OBVIOUSLY DO NOT WANT JOHN MCCAIN AS PRESIDENT--clearly my vote (despite the stereotyping that has gone on concerning Hillary supporters, of whom I count myself) will not be for a republican. Still, in the coming months, I'd like to see Senator Obama turn me into an enthusiastic democratic voter again.

The Obama Campaign is Under the Delusion

The Obama campaign is under the delusion that Barack should not talk about liberal issues, or he will lose votes. The problem with this assumption is that American politics is cyclical in nature. After an overdose of the neo-cons, people are ready to balance it out by swinging back towards the left. A second problem is that the Obama folks seem to have forgotten that it was the liberal wing of the party that carried him to the nomination, and they can take their support away just as easily as they gave it.

Your feelings on Obama echo mine. He wasn't my first choice, but I believe that he is a vastly superior option to McCain, and I have always viewed this race through the prism of winning in November.

Obama

I'd like to see a headline "Obama supports partial-birth abortions" because he has voted down banning that barbaric procedure everytime it comes up. I believe in abortion; I don't believe in killing the baby after inducing labor and the baby comes out kicking his little feet and clenching his little fists and trying to take a breath. That's when the knife goes into the soft spot into the brain to kill the unwanted baby. Why didn't the bimbo abort before the baby was big enough to try to live?
That's what Obama stands for - and that's one reason I will do anything I can to not give him the power to destroy any semblance of humanity.

Abortion

LuAnn,
Late term abortions are EXTREMELY RARE. Obama does not support a ban on them, because proposed bans have not accounted for the woman's health.

Women that have abortions are not bimbos.

Lieberman Attacks Obama's Patriotism

You think it's patriotic to cut and run? Good thing you non-thinkers weren't around during the Revolutionary War. We would all be talking with an English accent.
The coward's way out is to hand over the people that support democracy to Al Quida. Believe me, if that happens you had better get yourself fitted for a Burcqa because that is what those nutcases want. They have vowed death to all Americans and they mean it.
If brave people hadn't bled and died, you wouldn't have the right to spout your crap. Move someplace else - do you think you would get away with that? Please move someplace else - America needs the brave so we can remain the free nation we are. We don't need whiners like you.

?!

Please tell you're kidding.

This war has never been about our freedom. Now, there is a pretty convincing argument that states we are at war to stop terrorism toward us. But, while I join you in your hopes to stop attacks on the US, I have to say, I have never felt a burqua fitting in my future.

Democracy is about debate--it's about people making a choice--NOT about supporting whichever dictatorial A$$hole (read: George W. Bush and his crony John McCain) happens to be in office).

BTW: the Revolutionary War is not really a proper comparison, if your hope was to compare it to the Iraq war. If, though, you'd like to compare it to the war to remove Bush from office (King George!) it works ok--let's keep that war going!

A Blast From the Past: Cut and Run

Cut and Run, I am still laughing about that one. Comparing the debacle in Iraq to the Revolutionary War is just plain silly. Washington had a big problem with those brave Americans that you cite deserting.

Is that your version of democracy? To tell everyone who disagrees with you to leave the country? I am not whining about anything. It sounds to me like you have let your fear of terrorism rule your life. See I am not willing to sell out my rights because of some threat of terrorism.

If you are so afraid of the terrorists, why don't you move to Canada or better yet Iceland. You'll be nice and safe there. Sorry, but your terrorist boogey man nonsense isn't going to sell here. Go peddle your jibberish somewhere else.

Cut and run

"See I am not willing to sell out my rights because of some threat of terrorism."

Elect Obama - you won't have those rights. I know he'll only be a one-term president but I am really worried about how much he will destroy a great country in one term.

He does not have the experience or the ability or the brains to be Commander in Chief.

To quote Tony Blair: "I decide how great a country is by how many people want out and how many want in."

You Make No Sense Whatsoever

Lu Ann,

You may want to look up the term NON SEQUITUR. Your "argument" (and I use that term very loosely) above is absolutely ludicrous. None of those statements have anything to do with each other, and none of them relate to any thought you gave prior or after. Let me give you an example of your "logic" by countering your claims.

Here goes, pay careful attention:

"Elect Obama--you won't have those rights."

Elect McCain because he'll keep taking rights and liberties away from you because he's just like Bush. I know McCain will be a one term president because he'll destroy the country.

He does not have the judgment or the ability or the brains to lead.

To quote some random dude who really knows what makes a great country: Canada should be building a fence along its southern border because those sick Americans keep jumping the fence to get a hold of our medicine and health care."

-----

I know, you're probably saying, how does any of that garbage have anything to do with rights. There, that's your argument right back at you.

Please, take a critical thinking class. Learn some cohesion and logic before you come back posting around here. This site is for intelligent people to discuss serious subjects with keen insight and high faculties. It's not for people who think "texting a friend or posting to their myspace page" makes them sages and literati.
