Even though John McCain himself continues to say that Barack Obama is not a terrorist, his presidential campaign continues to press the Obama is a terrorist smear. The latest attack came from McCain spokesman Michael Goldfarb who claims that Obama and Ayers are friends, so the Democrat does pal around with terrorists.
“This much is clear: Barack Obama and William Ayers were friends before that relationship became a political embarrassment for the Illinois Senator–Obama did pal around with a terrorist. According to his campaign, Barack Obama no longer believes Ayers has been rehabilitated. And William Ayers did target his own country,” Goldfarb said.
The McCain spokesman also fired back at Obama campaign manager David Plouffe who today accused Sarah Palin of making remarks that are, “completely beyond the pale.” Goldfarb defended Palin’s remarks, “So what part of Governor’s Palin’s remarks are ‘beyond the pale.’ Perhaps Mr. Plouffe does not like Governor Palin’s inference that Barack Obama palled around with Ayers because Barack Obama has a different view of America than most of us. Yet the Obama campaign has offered no alternate explanation–they have not conceded that the relationship was simply the result of a serious error in judgment. The only thing ‘beyond the pale’ here is the Obama campaign’s failure to explain how it is that Barack Obama carried on a decade long friendship with a man who sought to topple the U.S. government through violence.”
I don’t know what’s more surprising to me, the fact that John McCain seems to have no voice in, and control over his own presidential campaign, or the fact that there are people in his campaign who still believe that this sleaze will actually help McCain win the election. The McCain campaign looks to be at war with itself. The entire operation has been plagued with an internal disconnect of message. For example, John McCain unveiled some new economic proposals today, but his campaign is still talking about Bill Ayers.
A well organized campaign would be maintaining their message discipline, and focused on McCain’s message of the day, which is supposed to be the economy. In contrast, the Obama campaign is extremely disciplined to the point where one rarely sees the candidate and his campaign not singing the same tune. The only thing that these Obama-Ayers attacks are certain to do is create more backlash against McCain. People don’t care about Bill Ayers, heck even John McCain has said that he doesn’t care about Ayers, so the question is, why is his campaign still talking about him?

By bringing up Obama’s relationship with the unrepentant communist Ayers, Palin opened the door to vetting McCain on his post-Vietnam War relationship with the late Vo Van Kiet.
Kiet was a Viet Cong terrorist in South Vietnam who rose through the communist ranks to become Vietnam’s Prime Minister and McCain’s political friend. Kiet served as prime minister from 1991 until 1997.
McCain blocked a May 1992 attempt by former Vietnam POWs Larry Stark, Dan Pitzer, and Jose Anzaldua to have the Bush administration investigate Kiet for ordering the executions of American POWs.
McCain traveled to Vietnam in October 1992 to collaborate with Kiet and other communist leaders on how best to remove the POW/MIA issue as an obstacle to normalized trade and diplomatic relations between Vietnam and the United States.
While in Vietnam, McCain and Kiet warmly greeted each other reaffirming both their governments’ desires for early normalization of relations and accelerated cooperation to resolve the issue of Americans missing in action. McCain has since referred to Kiet as his “friend.”
McCain’s chummy meeting with Kiet gave President Bill Clinton much needed political cover to lift the Vietnam trade embargo and withdraw U.S. opposition to Vietnam’s access to multi-million dollar loans from the International Monetary Fund. Clinton did so before Veterans Day 1993, a move that jump started Hanoi’s troubled economy. The about-face also removed any incentive for that country’s leaders to explain the fate of U.S. prisoners of war who were in Vietnam’s possession, but not released at the end of the war.
Ok…today I got yet another phone call with a recorded message from the McCain campaign, stating that Obama is in league with Terrorist that threaten the USA.
I guess since McCain lost that debate last night he is desperate and continues with the nasty smears. I am a registered Democrat, so I guess he is having his staff call all Dems to try and get us to switch our votes with his crap.
I am so sick of his pathetic dribble.
He and Palin make me sick.
DESPERATE CRAZY OLD BONE HEAD WILL SAY ANYTHING TO WIN NOW. Let it be known that nothing short of Obama waking up in bed with a dead hooker will make him lose this election. So stop with all the mindless efforts to smear Obama’s name. More than half of America made this man the Dem. nom. for a reason…. and that reason is to whip McCain’s ass on Election Day. Mission WILL BE ACCOMPLISHED!
I recall the “That one” comment which McCain made during a debate, in regard to Obama. I don’t know whether McCain believes Obama is not worthy of professional courtesy, as a result of Obamas ties with Rev. Wright and Bill Ayers, thereby beieving he is right to resort to treat Obama with contempt, or McCain is as bull headed as Dubya.
If Obama does share the beliefs of Ayers and Wright, then McCain would be justified to express such contempt, but if not, then it would appear McCain will hold contempt for anyone who gets in his way and doesn’t agree with him.
Either way, both candidates could be a liability.
That old SAddle Sore will say any thing now to try to fool people.

OBAMA/BIDEN
I don’t know how close Ayers and Obama are, but I do know that Obama and Michelle are socially friends with Rashid Khalidi and his wife Mona, and that Obama has had many conversations with Khalidi, some of them over meals at the Khalidi home. Michelle recently attended the wedding of Khalidi’s daughter. The only reason any of this is important, is that Khalidi was once a spokesman for the PLO and for Yassar Arafat; also he was a founder of the Arab American Action Network, a rabidly anti-Israel network. Obama was one of the speakers at a testimonial dinner in honor of Khalidi, and stated that their discussions have caused him to re-examine his previous views about some things. Ayers was another speaker at the same event.
Why is it so hard to see that this is about Obama’s poor judgment? This is not guilt by association and no one is claiming he’s a terrortist, regardless of the misleading headline of this slanted article. But this is someone who is running for, arguably, the most important position in the world and I don’t understand how anyone can say that character and judgment do not matter. No one can argue that, over the years, Obama has managed to surround himself with some very unsavory characters, including one Bill Ayers who does happen to be an unrepentent domestic terrorist. And Obama and his campaign have downplayed these associations at every turn and have often changed the story after being confronted. He wasn’t aware of his pastor’s negative rhetoric after being there for 20 years? He has nothing to do with ACORN? He thought Ayers was rehabilitated? Would it be OK for him to serve on a Board with one of the Oklahoma bombers after he was released from jail? His Rezko real estate deal was “bone-headed” but harmless? Is McCain perfect? No. But, his character is certainly much easier to defend. And there can be no argument that he is an improvement over Bush, although I admit the bar was set pretty low on that. Bottom line is that Obama has made many questionable associations over the years and that raises important issues of character and judgment. And, oh by the way, he also happens to be a socialist – he even admitted the other day that redistribution of wealth is one of his goals. If you are familiar with and OK with his judgment and his politcal leanings, then by all means vote for him. Please, just don’t gloss over these important issues because he has been chosen as “The One” by the media.
Afterall, some may think McCain had poor judgment to say at 9AM “the economy is sound, and then hours later says “there is a problem”. I think McCain delving into this “terrorist” area is going to hurt McCain and blow up in his face. Let’s go at a stretch and say McCain–>supported Bush who–>invaded Iraq although —>18 of the 911 terrorists were from Saudi Arabia who–>Bush says are our good friends. McCain should be very careful because the public is smart enough to understand that Obama is not a terrorist, and that any focus away from the all-important economic issue is going to be suspect and frowned upon. McCain is really rolling the dice if he brings this up during the debate and this will cost him the election.
So anyone is “pals of terrorists” if they talk with Arabs. This is the McCain/Wallace mentality we are talking about. Just like anyone who does not take a bow to Zionism is an anti-semite. I think we are all tired of this kindegarten mentality and are moving on with Obama. So long to the kindengartners on the right.
Let me just calculate this all up here.. so your telling me you want me to vote for a man who..A. has ties to a man who planned to bomb the pentagon, B. was a member of a church that disliked white people and americans (how about that racial double standard!)C. was a supporter of a group that tried to corrupt our votes D. wont even salute our flag! YOUR TELLING ME.. you want me to vote for THAT as president of OUR UNITED STATES? You have got to be out of your loving mind! Democrats are just blinded by who the stars are voting for and what the media is throwing at them, and if Obama makes it in office you will have no one to blame but yourselves
And you plan to vote for a man with ties to white supremecists, who had life handed to him on a silver platter, with the single exception of one brave decision he made in the 1970s?
The fact is, Obama was a member of a church, a very large church, who likely had quite a number of things going on. He might have suspected Wright’s anti-American views, but I personally don’t go to church to learn about my country, and I, personally, don’t really care what my pastor thinks politically. It isn’t very relevant to me, and I don’t know if Obama is any different. If you do want to hold it against him, however, then why don’t you hold Hagee’s endorsement of McCain against him? McCain actually APPROACHED Hagee about it, according to a Huffington post article, (here: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/02/29/john-hagees-mccain-endor_n_89189.html) which you might not believe, but it’s just as credible as the idea that Obama somehow isn’t patriotic because of salutes or flag pins.
Hagee is anti-catholic, anti-muslim, and has blamed the holocaust on the Jewish people, saying that “God allowed it to happen.”
I think the ACORN stuff is overblown, and allow me to explain why. I believe ACORN commited fraud, at the VERY least through negligence by not monitoring their people closely enough, but to blame Obama for that is silly. First of all, Democrats always like when more people vote, because the Republicans tend to do better when most Americans aren’t paying attention, so it makes sense that a Democratic candidate would support voter registration. That doesn’t mean that Obama was privy to the exact methods ACORN was using to register voters, which was to employ any random person and pay them based on commission.
So ACORN employee’s would just flip through the phone book and register people multiple times, register some bs like Wendy Store to the address of a local Wendy’s or something, and get their pay. But when you actually think about, how would that ‘corrupt our votes’? Wendy’s isn’t going to actually vote, nor will some guy who was registered 72 times ACTUALLY show up and vote 72 times. Other than piss off the voter registration office, I don’t see how this would have actually made a difference. It was unethical, but honestly, I can’t think of how a scheme this stupid could be due to anything other than the sheer incompetance of the people on the ground registering for ACORN.
As for Ayers, ok. Obama knew him. He’s repeatedly said he didn’t agree with him, which seems to hold water if you would actually pay attention to the words coming out of his mouth, instead up plugging your ears and saying ‘lalalala, nohearliberal, lalalala’ whenever he starts to speak. If you want to thoroughly examine this issue, let’s do it at the same time we thoroughly examine McCain for his relationship with the Keating 5, Richard Quinn, and just about every lobbyist over the last 26 years. The argument that Obama somehow lacks judgment because of the people he knew and served on a board with could be easily flipped around on McCain; both of them hold an equal amount of water, which is to say, not much.
Both of them also have nothing to do with the issues, or what I’m concerned with about America’s future. Let’s fix the economy, let’s stop corporations from bleeding hard working Americans dry of every penny they can, and let’s regain the respect of our allies; all things that John McCain would fail miserably at doing, by the way.
On 9 11 Bush senior was watching TV with the Bin Laden family. How much closer to terrorists can you get. Palen’s preacher ran Witches out of his village in Africa. I would like to see McCain’s roledex to see who it is that he has associated with over the years. Guilt by association can bite everyone in the ass. Get over it and worry about the policies that each of the canidates espouse, Mccain and Palin fall flat so they can only try to divert the attention from what they don’t have to offer.
