Pig Gate a.k.a. the attempt to gin up a gender controversy by the McCain campaign has lead to the Obama camp to put out a statement calling the McCain campaign cynical and increasingly dishonorable.
This whole thing started yesterday when at a Virginia campaign rally Obama said, “You can put lipstick on a pig. It’s still a pig. You can wrap up an old fish in a piece of paper and call it change. It’s still going to stink after eight years. We’ve had enough.”
The McCain camp called Obama’s remarks disgusting and demanded an apology for the Democrat calling Sarah Palin a pig. Of course, Obama never called Palin a pig, but I guess when one is trying to strike while the fire is hot, they shouldn’t let a little thing like the facts stand in the way.
The Obama campaign put out a statement last night calling this a pathetic attempt to play the gender card. “Enough is enough. The Mc Cain campaign’s attack tonight is a pathetic attempt to play the gender card about the use of a common analogy – the same analogy that Senator McCain himself used about Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton’s health care plan just last year. This phony lecture on gender sensitivity is the height of cynicism and lays bare the increasingly dishonorable campaign John McCain has chosen to run,” said senior advisor Anita Dunn.
John McCain is the last politician in the world that should be talking about gender issues. He opposes equal pay for women. He favors legislation that would make it more difficult for women to bring sex discrimination lawsuits against employers. (These are the types of lawsuits that he considers frivolous). Plus, his anti-abortion position makes it clear that John McCain is not a supporter on some important issues to many women.
John McCain is listening to Karl Rove and his crowd. He is doing whatever he has to do to win an election. McCain was an American hero, but now he shamelessly exploits his biography, and has flushed his previous policy positions down the toilet. McCain is running a dishonorable campaign, but the bigger question is, what’s the Obama campaign going to do about it?

Sooo….. the Obama camp is going to continue to call anything and everything that McCain does for the next 57 days “dishonorable”, in hopes of having the label stick?
Obama would have to be an idiot to not see that his remarks would be taken as applying to Sarah Palin; he should just apologise and move on.

Let’s teach our kids to spot manipulation, research the issues and vote to reduce the deficit. I’m embarrassed about the debt we’re handing them, and young voters know this. Don’t you?

People…the term ‘lipstick on a pig’ has NOTHING to do with the self proclaimed ‘pitbull with lipstick’!! They are slang rhetoric ‘used dismissively to accuse an opponent of making superficial or cosmetic changes in a futile attempt to disguise the true nature of a product.’ (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lipstick_on_a_pig)!! The whole hoopla about Barack attacking Palin because she has a vagina is the WHOLE goal of having that chalkboard-fingernail voiced hater on the McWrinkle ticket!!
