Former Republican Chafee: Palin is a Cocky Wacko

ImageFormer Republican senator and current Obama supporter Lincoln Chafee of Rhode Island said that John McCain’s selection of Sarah Palin as his running mate, not only revived the lackluster McCain campaign, but also energized the left.

When Chafee who was speaking at the New America Foundation in Washington, was asked about Palin he said, “People were coming into my office, phone calls were flooding in, e-mails were coming in, 'I just sent money to Obama, I couldn't sleep last night' — from the left. To see this cocky wacko up there." I’ll be honest. I don’t think it is a very good idea to be hurling personal insults at Palin, when the American public is still making up their mind about her.

I don’t think that Palin is a wacko. I will say that judging by what we know about her so far, she seems to be a typical mindless neo-con drone. She has not expressed a single original position yet. In fact, she has not done anything yet except give the same speech over and over again, and cheerlead for McCain. Perhaps, this is her role in the campaign. What is clear is that the Republican base already adores her, because she is one of them, but what happens to Palin when her far right views become more known?

As new polls are being released every day, it is clear that the media overestimated her impact on the race. Obama had a small lead before she came on the scene, and now it is tied. Unless she performs well at the VP debate next month, I think that she will fade away. Chafee is correct in saying that Palin has energized the left. I had the feeling that the left was sleepwalking because they were under the assumption that Obama was going to cruise to victory. The recent McCain bounce woke them up, and now they realize that they have a fight on their hands.

Mayor Palin

What a wacko! She reminds me of a Stepford wife! I'll bet you that her head will pop off during debate with Biden, exposing all the wires and computer chips the GOP has programmed her with! McBush FAILED on his first presidential decision.

palin

I am truly disgusted at the Republican choice of Palin. Talk about token female. It's obvious that the Republicans care nothing about this country. They'll use any tactics to win at the cost of our country's continued existence as a beacon of freedom and liberty. Scum sucking right wing fascists!!!

Palin comments from Obama Goons

What a bunch of liberal trash talking. Palin rocks and I would vote for her for President before I would vote for Barack Obama! The problem with you leftists, especially the younger ones, is all you can digest politically are sound bites.

Mike Boles (not verified) | Fri, 09/12/2008 - 16:43

I wouldn't know trash

I wouldn't know trash talking since I'm just a voter with the right to make up my mind as I see fit. But I will tell you this; McCain's the one that has to rely on soundbites because when you get into the whole of his incoherent message that government should mind our business and rob from the poor to give to the rich....he's got nothing new to offer, not even his little trophy VP.
And frankly, anyone who's ever bothered to go out and get a higher education might want to consider that some day if people like whom I'm bothering to respond to had their way....education would be outlawed. But then, I think that was the intention with the No Child Left Behind Act. Meant as another way to turn a buck off a kid's life. There is no dollar to be made at any turn these people have ever said no to, for ANY reason.
Is there really any wonder why the far right and China have so much in common with one another? Its the far right's DREAM to control the individual and take our money. And use the low income, uneducated SCHMUCKS in this country to get there.

Suzanne (not verified) | Fri, 09/12/2008 - 16:56

Please look it up... Bush

Please look it up... Bush signed the No Child Left Behind Act to be bipartisan to Ted Kennedy ( yeah it was Kennedy's deal ) and as soon as Kennedy got his way ( by Bush signing the act ) he turned his back on him.

I feel that taking from the rich and giving to the poor is just as wrong as taking for the poor and giving to the rich.

The government (whether Republican or Democrat ) needs to be run like a BUSINESS... Not like it is our rich Mother or Father bailing us out when we make mistakes.

What does China and the far right have in common? Isn't it the far and near left that wants to do everything for us and control us?

Pardon me for borrowing this from an email I saw...If you got all A's in college (MS. HIGHER EDUCATION ) what would you do when the Dean of Studies comes to you and says " John (made up non-ethnic name) here is failing and we need to take 2.0 off your 4.0 so John can have a 2.0 and pass, leaving you with a 2.0 average also. Something you worked very hard for, and obviously John just goofed off or isn't capable of passing, is taken from you and given to some who has little, if any, time or effort in it. Isn't that the same as making 250k a year and being penalized because they ( the left ) want you to subsidize the poor? I don't make 250k a year, hell I don't make a 100k a year but I am trying very hard and when I do, and I will, I don't want some one taking it from me to give it to someone that didn't earn it , more or less deserve it!!!!

Spin whatever you need to ...whatever keeps YOU from feeling like/being a SCHMUCK!!!

Please look it up....Bush

Dear trip,

You are the reason I fear so much for this country. You say that gov't is not our rich mother or father bailing us out,but every time an industry, that has paid upper mgmt millions of dollars in salary and options, goes belly up due to the bad decisions that those right wing bosses made, the gov't is there to bail them out with millions, if not billions, of "our hard earned tax dollars."The right wing fundalmentalist of this country have done more to turn American industry toward commmunism than Karl Marx could have done in three lifetimes.I,on the other hand, would much rather my tax dollars be spent on working class Americans receiving adequate healthcare and education.I don't demonize right wing bigots for their views,I only want them to call a spade a spade, and to stop lying about anyone who would rather help individuals instead of Corporations, by calling us closet communists.
Before getting bailed out, make the fat cats repay the salaries they stole while wrecking the companies they headed.

onewayfarer (not verified) | Fri, 09/12/2008 - 23:14

I agree to an extent...but....

The problem we have is this: Millions of us do work very hard and for very long hours and did not have the luxury of going to college to get a high paying job. Therefore we are used as cheap labor in low paying jobs, basically slaves for "the man". I am 42 and have been working since I was 16. I have no retirement savings or savings of any kind. I do not live beyond my means. I work in a state licensed profession and own one car (7 yrs old) and a small house (1300 Sq. ft). Thats all I have. The house has been mortgaged to the max to pay the 30 percent of my salary I pay each year in income taxes and to be able to hold onto my house and still be able to eat. No one is asking for a hand-out or socialism. BUT the folks who can afford to pay more in taxes should pay more... and ones who cannot afford to pay as much should be given a break. If and when I ever make $250,000.00 in a year, I'd be very happy to pay a higher percentage. I would still have plenty of money left for other things wouldn't I? I will put it this way. Taxes are like anything else you buy... if you cannot afford to buy the more expensive items, then you shouldn't. So if you cannot afford to pay a high percentage in taxes, then you shouldn't.

Palin Pales

Mike:

You sound like some of the know-nothings that I know who think that they are Republicans, but merely are Retardians. Palin is a small time local gal with not an ilk of worthwhile experience for the national scene, and more important, none for international concerns. To have her one weak heart beat away from the presidency is horrendously irresponsible. It is symptomatic of McCain's lack of judgement making him totally inadequate to be president.

McCain has never been a maverick, only an out-of-touch opportunist thriving off his heart-wrenching war experience and ability to gain wealth the old fashioned way -- marry it. He has stumbled through life on others' shoe strings.

Mike, you are a fool having been grossly bamboozled by the right's use of fear tactics and hate mongering, subtle though it is sometimes may be (though the more astute can discern the difference). Today's right wingers are not even close to the Republicans of yore. But if not terribly smart, they are shrewd, greedy, Machiavellian, and willing to take advantage of the dumbing down of America. You must be one of those of whom they are taking advantage.

My condolences,
George

Candidate Palin

I don't think it was a bright idea to call the Republican VP candidate a wacko. It reflects badly on the person who made the remark.

Palin interview

If you watched the interview of Gov. Palin on ABC nightly news last night you discovered that this woman knows nothing about international affairs. She said that the Russians attacked Georgia without provocation. That is an abolute lie. Georgia tried to take over Russian territory. She says her experience in diplomacy comes from the fact that she can see Russia from Alaska. She has to be self deluding or just plain ignorant about what diplomacy is. She said that she is involved in national defense as Alaska produces 20% of the oil the nation uses. I guess that makes her a guru about national defense. Then she sounded like an automatom when interviewed and totally without a foundation to be 'one heartbeat' away from the presidency. I found her off the wall and very disappointed in her.

Palin vs. Obama - Palin wins

Rather than try to play the gotcha game - how about we look at the candidates positions on issues. As for Obama - he is basically a socialist. Palin - is basically a capitalist. I believe our country was founded on capitalism rather than socialism and I hope it stays that way. So I would vote for Palin over Obama.

Palin vs Obama

Hey, "Shoot" your best shot(providing that you share Palins Attachment to guns) The only way McBush will win this election would be if the American people decided not to vote for ANY candidate in this election. Who is it that thinks that McCain/Palin have anything new to offer the American People?? Did I miss somthing in translation? In order for something new to appear, the old ideas have to die, before new grass can grow, the old grass has to wither, before trees will bloom, the old has to fade away. So, "WHERE ARE NEW IDEAS COMING FROM IN THIS ELECTION? From Barack Obama! I don't see any "Change" coming from the current Republican nominee at all. Sorry.

Republican Just Have LOWER "IQ's"

One proven FACT, Republicans will believe ANYTHING without fact based information if the party leaders tell them to do so......... Two days after announcing Palin as his VP candidate and almost 60% of the party members backed her............... John McCain, George W. Bush and Dick Cheney know that members of their party are incapable of reasoning. Tell them anything like IRAQ have WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION and they will buy in this campaign without facts...........

Palin

Palin is being used to pander to and win over a certain sector of the public who have very little education and swallows wholesale every bit of crap that is fed to them. Look at the reality of Palin: A gun toting, huntin', fishin', killin' kinda gal, a former beauty queen (ha) who called one of her companies "Rouge Cou" which means red neck, doesn't use birth control, has too many kids, thinks the world began 4000 years ago, the former mayor of a town of under 1000 people, the Governor of a state with a total population of a small town, went to at least four colleges before getting a degree, doesn't support sex education for teens, yet had a baby less than 8 months after she was married and has an under age daughter who is pregnant, wraps herself in the flag, yet won't help the endangered animal population of her State, wants to sell our beautiful unspoiled lands to the oil companies, skirts around the truth or just plain lies, yep that's who I want to represent this country. She is the embodiment of today's America and I am not proud.

John McCain - - " STREET PIMP"

John McCain is a very clever old school "PIMP". If you noticed John taste for women, you can't ignore his beautiful wife - that's one sign of his "PIMPING" taste....... John understood in order to get ahead he needed a "STREET WOMAN" that he could put on the corners of America and not have her to say very much, but just stand on the corners and attract customers.............Well "PIMP DADDY" you know how to pick girls and Palin for now is bringing in a few bucks !

Sarah is floundering

I have always voted republican until this election. Mccain has nothing to say, and Sarah sounded and looked like a deer staring at headlights! Not only did she not understand most questions, her voice cracked consistently and her body language shows she was completely overwhelmed!
Considering the age of Mccain, Sarah was be the worst president we could ever hope for. Uneducated, nervous, and inexperienced!
Also, when you look at a leader or manager, their home life should be well managed as well. Having a pregnant 17 year old shows she isn't much of a manager!

The Art of Self Destruction by J. McCain and S. Palin

It’s ironic that Gov. Palin’s inability to answer simple questions is the equivalent of her setting the self-destruct device for the McCain campaign. John McCain added to the drama with his “the fundamentals of the American economy are strong” comments just as this financial crisis became front page news. He took it to the next level when his campaign suspension and Washington powerbroker gambit failed. He knew the clock was ticking and the added pressure contributed to his condescending attitude at the debate he wanted to cancel. The debate day or T minus 40 represented his first failsafe opportunity but Sen. Obama held his own and another comment by Gov. Palin kept the clock running.
Sen. McCain is losing this battle because he “just doesn’t understand” that voters don’t want the person who is a heartbeat from the oval office to answer questions about foreign and domestic policy, health care and the financial crisis question like Miss Teen South Carolina answered the following question.
Q: Recent polls have shown a fifth of Americans can’t locate the United States on a world map. Who do you think this is?
A: I personally believe that U.S. Americans are unable to do so because, uh, some people out there in our nation don’t have maps and, uh, I believe that our, uh, education like such as in, uh, South Africa and, uh, the Iraq and everywhere like such as, and I believe that they should, uh, our education over here in the U.S. should help the U.S., uh, should help South Africa and should help Iraq and the Asian countries, so we will be able to build up our future for our children.
It’s T minus thirty something and I automatically think of her as the “deer in the headlights” and John McCain as the one just on the roadside out of danger. I marvel at how her facial expression expertly masks the onset of the cerebral event that causes her to utter so many ridiculous answers. Since the rock star bubble has burst and late night TV host and Saturday Night Live are having a field day. Sen. McCain should understand that democratic voters are laughing at his expense and many of his supporters are enjoying the show as well. Must the show go on until the clock stops ticking.

Respectfully
F. Gump
