I live in Minnesota, I vote in every election; I am registered as an Independent. I have attended caucuses, although I have not attended every one I possibly could.

Doesn’t it follow from Steele’s logic that if someone was going to steele, er, STEAL an election by altering vote counts, they would have done a better job of it than to have it take 8 months to resolve an election by such a close margin? Here in Minnesota we are neither crooked NOR that stupid. Well, except maybe for having Bachmann in Congress….

Yes, there were MINOR differences in how votes were counted in Minnesota. Those differences were found to be of negligable significance by multiple reviews conducted by the appropriate authorities, all unanimous. The first COURT appeal of the count was to a 3 judge panel composed of a democrat, a republican, and an independent. Their findings were unanimous in favor of Franken. The five judge supreme court found unanimously for Franken; two justices recused themselves because of possible conflict of interest due to their history of political donations. The Minnesota Court System has some of the most rigorous standards for recusal and conflict of interest in the country. Let me point it out again, for emphasis: U N A N I M O U S

Coleman at the end was very gracious to Senator-elect Franken, and deserves to be commended for it. To lose such a close election has to be horribly discouraging; in some ways worse than losing by a larger margin. If the GOP hopes to do well in this state in the next round of elections, they would be wise to follow former Senator Coleman’s example. Not promulgate this nonsense.
