Will Ferrell Takes George W. Bush to Broadway

January 7, 2009

ImageWill Ferrell is going to be taking his George W. Bush impression to Broadway with his show, “You’re Welcome America: A Final Night with George W. Bush.” I think we all can agree that Ferrell does the best Bush impression. Check out the video of “W.” promoting his show.

A Message from George W Bush by Will Ferrell

My favorite part of the video is W. saying, “Don’t worry that Tiger Woods guy is taking over.” What makes Ferrell’s impression the best is that he captures the combination of arrogance and ignorance that has been the presidency of George W. Bush. This is the kind of no brainer show that is a hit waiting to happen.

It also is a sad reminder of what will probably go down as a golden age of political satire. The more serious and self-righteous the Bush administration became, the better the satire got. Sometimes things are so bad that can either laugh or cry. Since we couldn’t stop Bush from starting wars, and destroying our civil rights, all we could do was laugh, and vote for change.

Political humorists will eventually figure out how to poke fun at the Obama administration, but after the humor that wrote itself during the Clinton and Bush years, they now have their work cut out for them when it comes to Obama. Ferrell’s show should be worth the price of a ticket, even in this bad economy, or you could just wait for the likely DVD. Either way, it will be worth checking out.
