The Republican Siren Song of Sedition
Throughout my life I’ve never hated someone’s message so much that I wanted to shut him or her down by force. My liberal parents taught me that those folks had a right to freedom of speech. Freedom of speech. This is our right as American citizens. Part of my job as a citizen is to tolerate ideas with which I do not agree, so long as they do not infringe on the rights and safety of others. Ahead of 2010 Democrats Continue to Dominate Fundraising
Even though the mainstream media loves to talk about the toll that the healthcare debate is taking on the Democratic Party, there has been a large positive upside for the Democrats. The healthcare debate has re energized progressives and fueled a surge in Democratic fund raising. Democrats are currently out raising Republicans at a 3 to 1 pace ahead of the 2010 elections. Palin and the Convention Power Obama to a New Fundraising Record
In what is likely going to become a monthly event, the Obama campaign announced today that they have shattered their own fundraising record of $55 million by raising $66 million in August. There is little doubt that the combination of the Democratic Convention and the selection of Sarah Palin have energized Democrats.

Obama Nearly Doubles McCain’s July Fundraising
The Obama fundraising machine continues to roll on, as the campaign announced today that it raised $51 million in July. This nearly doubles Republican John McCain’s haul of $27 million. The campaign also reported 65,000 new donors for the month. Over 2 million people have now given to the Obama campaign.

The Obama Fundraising Machine Flexes Its Muscles
The Obama campaign announced this morning that they raised $52 million in the month of June. This means that the Obama camp more than doubled McCain’s $22 million for the month.
Obama Out Raises McCain in May
The monthly FEC fundraising filings are in for May, and the numbers reveal that despite having his best month yet, John McCain was still narrowly outraised by Barack Obama. For the month, McCain raised $20.9 million and Obama $22 million. Obama has $33.3 million in cash on hand, while McCain has $31.6 million. Continue reading

Was McCain’s Ottawa Fundraiser Illegal?
The Democratic National Committee has submitted a Freedom of Information Act request with the State Department today related to a fundraiser that John McCain held in Ottawa. At issue is whether U.S. Ambassador David Wilkins and the McCain campaign violated the Hatch Act by having the Ambassador help to organize a $100 a plate luncheon for McCain.

Obama Asks Supporters to Break Away from Broken Public Finance System
Barack Obama announced today that he is not accepting public financing for the general election, “It’s not an easy decision, and especially because I support a robust system of public financing of elections. But the public financing of presidential elections as it exists today is broken, and we face opponents who’ve become masters at gaming this broken system.”

At a fundraiser in Philadelphia where he was flanked by PA governor Ed Rendell, Philadelphia mayor Michael Nutter, and Sen. Bob Casey, Barack Obama said, “If they bring a knife to the fight, we bring a gun. Because from what I understand folks in Philly like a good brawl. I’ve seen Eagles fans.”

The Obama Impact: DNC Bans Lobbyist Money
The Barack Obama campaign wasted no time starting to put their stamp on the Democratic National Committee, as the DNC announced this morning that they will no longer accept contributions from lobbyists. This is a move that is more symbolic than anything else, as the DNC had only raised $3 million from lobbyists since 2007.
