broadband access for all

I am in full agreement with most of the other posts. I live about 20 miles southeast of Roanoke, VA. Whereas Roanoke is fully connected and has choices, those of us who live more rural, the only choice we have is which dial up service we are going to use. I looked into Wildblue and Hughesnet. Don't waste your money. They are expensive ($60/month for the base plan) and they have download and upload thresholds. If you go beyond those, they will slow you WAY down, like to dial up speeds or slower. I called the cable company. They said they would do a survey which would take about 3 weeks. About 3 days later, they sent me a note saying that it is not available in my area. So much for that idea. I agree, if this country wants to catch up with everybody else, something needs to get done.
