Entitled Pandering Pathological Liar Mitt Romney Adds Racism to His Resume
Nearly anyone who has been in a relationship will agree that it takes a fair amount of time to really get to know another person and understand their deep-seated beliefs. It is virtually impossible to know much about any politician because without intimate knowledge of their background and interpersonal relationships, one must depend on how they respond to questions, their public record, and especially past performances. It has been trying for voters to understand Willard Romney because he never adheres to a particular agenda, and his recent conversion to ultra-rightwing extremism is but another shift to curry favor with Republicans.
Over the past two weeks, and particularly the past two days, Romney has provided a wealth of information regarding his ideology and he accomplished that primarily in two speeches that validate his critics’ assertions throughout the campaign. The American people know very little about Romney except that he is extremely wealthy, but political observers and critics have asserted for some time that he is a pandering pathological liar, who is power-hungry, arrogant, secretive, and a racist.
Yesterday in Michigan, Romney told an audience that, “No one’s ever asked to see my birth certificate,” and by pandering to the birther crowd, he revealed that that he is a racist who is willing to go to any lengths to achieve the most powerful office in the land. His nod to the birthers signals that Romney is not the leader he purports to be. Next week at the Republican convention in Tampa, there are no less than seven birthers speaking to convention-goers including Romney’s friend Donald Trump, Mike Huckabee, Florida governor Rick Scott, Louisiana governor Bobby Jindal, and three other well-known racists who contend President Obama is a Kenyan and ineligible to serve as President. Romney, who is supposed to be the party’s standard bearer going into November, is more than willing to consort with racists because he is desperate in his lust for power.
On Thursday, Romney unveiled his energy plan at an oil-services company in New Mexico that allegedly accomplishes North American energy independence by 2020. Willard said energy independence requires opening up more federal lands and waters to oil and gas drilling, giving states approval power over federal land, and building Keystone-like pipelines between Canada and Mexico to take fuller advantage of their oil resources. The plan, written by the oil industry is essential summed up in three words; “drill baby drill.” What was missing from his plan was any reference to renewable and green energy, safety standards for increased oil and gas drilling, or any mention of climate change. However, it did include repealing EPA limits on carbon dioxide pollution from power plants, criticism of President Obama’s moratorium during the BP oil spill, and eliminating regulations that destroy jobs, paralyze industry, or bar the use of resources like coal.
Willard’s plan exposed his anti-environmental position that puts Americans in danger of dirty air, polluted water, and blatant disregard for the environment to be sure, but it also exposed his belief that winning in November makes him king of North America. Earlier in the campaign, Romney said “I’ll build the Keystone pipeline and get that Canadian oil we deserve,” and it ignores two simple facts. One, the Canadian oil does not belong to America, and two, that any oil from Canada, Mexico, or America belongs to the oil industry that will sell it on the foreign market to Europe, China, and Central America. Does Romney know how the oil industry works, and that a president is not able to “get that oil we deserve” from sovereign nations and oil companies? If he does know it, then he has a distorted self-image that has its basis his religious upbringing.
According to Sue Emmett, a great-great-granddaughter of Mormonism’s Brigham Young, Romney was raised in a culture that “gives men power when they are 12 years old,” and that as a bishop, “Mitt was used to having people defer to him and not challenge him throughout his entire life.” She continued that “it is a position where everyone defers to you. What a bishop says goes. People come to them to receive blessings, and as the world can now see, Mitt has a very hard time being questioned and criticized because he’s had so little of this in his life.”
Romney’s religious background may also contribute to his racist tendencies manifest in his latest birther statement. The Mormon cult held that dark-skinned people were cursed by god until Willard was 31 years old, and bringing up the President’s birth certificate appears to be an integral part of his racially-tinged campaign. Willard’s campaign said President Obama needs to “learn to be an American,” and Romney said the President’s policies “are foreign to America.” Whatever the reason for Romney’s drift into explicit racism, it appears that in his lust for power he is getting desperate to openly embrace birthers.
After the past couple of weeks, Americans are getting to know who Romney is, and they are not enamored with him like he expected. He angered the African American community with his racist remarks about “free stuff,” and his stance on immigration has not garnered love from Hispanics. His choice of Paul Ryan as his running mate alienated senior citizens and reminded many Americans of George W. Bush’s vice president; oil man Dick Cheney. His energy plan is a sellout to the oil industry and a disaster for the environment, and his assertion that he will achieve energy independence for all of North America informs a sense of arrogance as well as ignorance of national borders or the foreign oil market. However, he impugned his own character when he embraced birthers (racists), and it is another sign that his arrogance and lust for power supersedes good judgment.
Romney may have stifled discussion by disallowing questions about his record as head of Bain Capital, governor of Massachusetts, the Salt Lake City Olympics, Todd Akin, and abortion, but he defines himself as an arrogant, secretive, tax avoiding elitist with every new speech or statement to the press. Maybe Brigham Young’s great-great-granddaughter is correct that Romney is so used to everyone deferring to him that he really believes any lie, or offensive policy statement is going to garner automatic reverence from the American people, but Americans want a leader who listens, not commands. When Willard said he would achieve energy independence for all of North America, or that no-one asked to see his birth certificate, he really told Americans that he is a pandering racist who thinks too highly of himself when the reality is he is a desperate rich guy who expects the same adoration he commanded as a religious leader. His problem is that Americans are not transfixed by LDS religious fervor, and they demand a president who looks out for their interests, and it is the one thing Willard cannot deliver because he is a self-aggrandizing rich guy who is desperate for wealth and power, and the American people are on to him.

I think we can safely say that it’s not just Mitt Romney who is lying. Paul Ryan is running a close second and the entire GOP comes in third. Make no mistake this is an effort that is planned. The pathetic part is, there are people intelligent enough to know that the GOP is lying about everything and yet they go right on doing it.

“Maybe Brigham Young’s great-great-granddaughter is correct that Romney is so used to everyone deferring to him that he really believes any lie, or offensive policy statement is going to garner automatic reverence from the American people”
When I first had gotten involved with the dominionists (almost 34 years ago), I made the near-fatal mistake of correcting a megachurch preacher (in a different county) on a point in the Bible (and worse, proved that I was correct) instead of taking his bullsh*t at face value. Shortly afterward, my church “encouraged” me to drop out of school and “Get a REAL job”, and from that time on any attempt to get a decent job was ineffective. They “encouraged” me to take “real jobs” like working in what is now a Superfund site, night clerk in a convenience store, and so on. A few years later (well after I’d walked) I learned that at least three good paying jobs -for which I was well qualified- had been blocked by the church (partially because of false rumors being spread about me but it had to be more than that) – while at the same time they were preaching at me that if I was submitted to God and trusted God enough, I’d get a good job.
The point is, dominionists and leaders from other cults DO expect you to take everything they say at face value, and to obey without question or hesitation. That extends to people outside their groups too. They are also very quick to retaliate against anyone who does dare dispute or question them, and they have VERY long memories.
Oh, and I never made the connection between the treatment I received at the hands of the dominionist churches and my daring to refute a preacher (in my “baby dominionist” days) until a couple of years ago. I mentioned that story to a friend, and he was the one who suggested that I was being “taught a lesson”.

“No one’s ever asked to see my birth certificate” . . .
That is correct, Governor.
Your tax returns, however . . .

What kind of people are willing to sell their soul or morality to see Mitt Romney get elected as President. Anyone that would vote for him surely knows what a liar he is. His every word and action makes it so perfectly clear that he does not care about middle class or poor people. He would do untold damage to our country, yet The Republican base feels they must support him, WHY? If President Obama behaved and lies like Romney, I would not vote for him either, fortunately, President Obama is very honest and good hearted. you really can’t say that about Romney. I just don’t understand why good Christian people can’t see Romney for the phony liar that he is.

Romney knows exactly how the oil industry works. He understands that it’s a fungible commodity sold by the oil companies on a global market. He further understands that it really makes little difference if we increase production since the middle east can throttle their production to drive up prices. He probably also understands that oil production in the US is at an all time high *right now*. Unfortunately, his dim witted supporters don’t understand any of that.

To add to your comment, let’s not forget, Mr. Mitt has Iranian oil investments. I’m SURE he know how the oil industry works and knows it well. His supporters live in a perpetual state of denial and would never believe it.

I was in a debate with a Tea Party acquaintance about racism yesterday and he made a point I could not argue. Racism is thrown around a lot by liberals but where is the actual evidence. For me it is an accumulation of people I know and the history of the Republican party. most of my family is racist and Republican but can’tI just assume the whole party is.
The acts of questioning faith, birth place and his patriotism seem to lead to the thought of racism but they are not racist by nature. He pointed out being proud of Obama for being the first black president, as racism does not mean hate.
Someone throws me a bone here. Give me some good ammo to throw his way!!

Why aren’t they asking for Romney’s BC? His father was born in Mexico on a commune. Using their paranoia, how do they know he’s not a radical Marxist polygamist infiltrating the US government?
I only ask because in the face of all evidence, they continue to ask for the bc. Why are they so rude and disrespectful to this president? Shouting “You lie!” — breaching protocol (and by the way, any one who has lived in the South knew what that was all about). Calling Obama “boy”. Daily Caller and conservatives gloating over interrupting the President in the Rose Garden during a speech, another thing that has not happened before.
The Romney Medicare lie about work has a long history in Southern Strategy of the Republican Party (based in racism). This isn’t a theory– these are proven facts, and anyone who denies it is simply playing parse the moment with you. It’s not that the leaders are racists, it’s that they use racism to fire up their base and keep them resentful. This is how they keep them voting Republican (the Democrat is going to give black people all your jobs and money!). But is that really something we want in our leaders? Why can’t Romney talk about issues that matter to people? Why is he stuck playing the welfare card and making birther jokes? What is that all about?
Where is all of this disrespect coming from and who do these clowns think they are? What gives them the right to behave like this? When I look at the folks behaving this way, they are all less qualified and less accomplished than this president by a country mile. He is their president. Where is their patriotism? Where is their respect? They are anarchists — refusing to acknowledge his authority (or any Democrat’s authority), why? Because they only acknowledge Republican authority. IS that what the founders intended? Hardly.
Google the Southern Strategy. It is deliberate, they’ve admitted it, and it’s hardly conjecture. That said, the chances of you have a real debate with someone who is pretending not to see how this is racist are slim to none, and I suggest you don’t bother. Mitt Romney is trying to play the liberal victim here, in order to get his base to like him more than they do.

What I have read awhile ago, is that the birth certificate demand is related to the time in the south when blacks had to show their papers. It’s very demeaning.
I have a friend who asked “why doesn’t he just show it?” This was before he showed the long form, and I said, he already has. I didn’t know about the whole ‘papers please’ thing at the time.
I didn’t grow up in the south neither did we. She is younger than I am, and I didn’t know about this history. I can understand for anyone who is too young to know or remember, it might not seem like a big deal. But the people who are using it, no exactly what they are doing. It is racist and demeaning.
After Bush was appointed president, the Rs demanded he be shown respect, respect he didn’t deserve, in my mind. (I’m too polite to be rude to his face, if I had the chance.)
But they have no problem being completely disrespectful of President Obama during the times of crisis, when in foreign countries (people never used to say ill of the president on foreign soil), statue of the union, press conferences.
The amazing thing to me is the grace with which President Obama handles all of this – and Mitt Romney has shown he doesn’t have an ounce of grace in him.

Is it any wonder that a recently released poll indicated that President Obama has a 94%-0% lead over Mittens with African-American voters? That was BEFORE he made that idiotic comment yesterday.

TPM reported last night that the Romney spokesperson who told reporters that he’d accept no questions from the press about forcible rape or Todd Akin has been demoted, whatever this means. I think the spokesperson has been fired, just like the guy who told reporters to kiss his azzz in Poland. Romney knows he doesn’t want to talk about forcible rape or Akin, and I believe what the spokesperson told reporters came from the top of the ticket. The problem is that Romney didn’t want the public to know about his media ban. When the media began to report on it, he did what he usually does, he flip flopped. Limbaugh gave Romney and the other republicans their orders on Thursday when he told them that if a reporter mentions forcible rape and Akin, don’t answer the question. Also, Romney ducked addressing the issue of forcible rape and Akin until after other republicans had spoken out about it. The sad thing about this is that there are millions of Americans who seem to think that Romney is a leader and belongs in the WH.

I can’t believe how hate filled you people are. The whole process is such bull$#!5 anymore. I disagree with Mr. Obama on a number of issues but respect the office and the fact that he is our president. Does that make me a bigot? I dont believe the Washington Spin Machine..does that make me a racist? No one is talking about actually fixing any of our problems in this country and they have us so “spun up” against each other I’m not sure we ever will. This is not a sports rivalry folks. This is the future of our country. Enough hate. From both sides.

Ah yes, when the left speaks truth, you righties call it “hate”. But you get to spew all the venom you like.
As for “disagreeing with Obama doesn’t make me a racist”, why is it that I’m seeing that phrase WORD FOR WORD on dozens of bulletin boards now? It’s almost as if it’s a paid Republican damage control campaign. Hmmm…..

Mitt has said that Obama has failed. No, he hasn’t failed. He tried to make changes but unfortunately the Republican Party fought him every step of the way. They blocked HUNDREDS of bills introduced by Obama. Some of them were: A tax on Companies that ship jobs overseas- A bill that would have eliminated a tax break that companies get when they ship jobs overseas. BLOCKED A Political Ad disclosure bill that would require disclosure of donations. BLOCK and just recently, Obama has introduced a rule that would extend minimum wage protections to home health workers, Republicans are now attempting to block that too. They believe that $7.25 an hour is too much to pay an American Worker. Could you raise a family on $280 a week? Seriously? Thurston Howell the III has no idea what it means to be poor! He disgusts me!

wow. you’re on “dozens of billboards?” not working then eh? Let me put it another way…I don’t care if you are white, asian, african american or hispanic, I have a right to disagree with your politics and you have the right to disagree with mine. To suggest that my disgust at the race card being played by some in the democratic party is “paid Republican damage control” is so…well…silly. Its silly. I am sorry that you are intellectually incapable of having any king of genuine discussion. I hope that you are just a loudmouth and not really representative of your party.
