Eric Cantor Thinks Starving Millions of People Instead of Cutting Defense is Common Sense
Earlier tonight, Eric Cantor called starving millions of Americans instead of cutting defense spending common sense.
Here is the video:
Cantor said, “I rise today to urge support for the measures before us to replace the sequester and reduce the deficit, and to extend permanent tax relief for the middle class and hundreds of thousands of small business people. For the past weeks and months, as people have been looking for jobs and budgeting for their expenses; we have been working to keep taxes from going up and offering common sense spending reforms. The Spending Reduction Act at issue today reduces our deficit and protects our national security by replacing indiscriminate cuts that are neither strategic nor balanced.”
One of the “common sense spending reforms” that Cantor didn’t want you to know about was the ending of funding for the Meals on Wheels program for 1.7 million Americans. According to the White House, “It entirely eliminates the Social Services Block Grant, which serves 1.7 million seniors through programs like Meals on Wheels. This would also cut federal funds for child care and related assistance for 4.4 million children; services for nearly 1 million disabled individuals; and child protective services which serve 1.8 million at-risk children.”
Rep. Cantor described it all as common sense, but I think many Americans would disagree that starving millions of our fellow citizens so that a few hundred billion stays in the bloated defense budget is common sense.
Those of you who are worried about any proposal that President Obama has made should really consider what the other side of the table is counter offering.
Obama says maybe we can do something on the income level for the tax increase, and Republicans respond with a starvation plan that Stalin would be proud of. It is hard to reach a compromise when the people on the other side are insane ideologues who see no problem with literally starving seniors who already face a one in seven risk of food security issues.
The next time somebody tells you that Obama is caving on the fiscal cliff take a second to consider what it is that Republicans really want, and what it is that the president is proposing. (While I vehemently disagree with the chained CPI, it is a huge leap from that to cutting off food assistance to seniors, children, and the poor.)
Republicans think starving millions so that defense contractors get a little more, and millionaires get another tax cut is just dandy.
If this is the “compromise” that the GOP is offering, maybe we’d be better off with the cliff.

There is NO DEBATE NEEDED. The Republicans have at every step favored only WHITE WEALTHY HEALTHY RICH STRAIGHT CHRISTIAN MEN, and have repeatedly violated the rights of everyone else, and caused rampant suffering and death via their policies. I’ve read the article and watched the video. Correct me if I’m wrong but I didn’t read anything that said he wanted to starve millions to make anyone happy. Can someone point it out for me, specifically? I believe the states should be picking up the tab to feed and care for its people… not the Fed, right?

Really? REALLY? Perhaps you do know that the spending cuts bill passed the house the same day that the plan B tax bill failed?
The spending cuts that cut out funding to children?
Its really cute of you to try the where did he say it specifically trick, but its time to grow up now
Oh, an dno, I dont trust a koch owned state like Wi, Mi, Fl to take care of its people first and corporations second

How about communities and individuals picking up the tab; oh, too many rules to even be able to give things away (including serving food); too much of our left over money no longer enough because of all the small ways we are taxed taxed taxed.
So, individuals can no longer help as much as they would like to at the local level where the real heavy lifting comes in.
So, Dems, pat yourselves on your backs for calling taxes a charitable donation and trying to hog all the peoples’ money for little government funded programs that go to narrow interests instead of broad interests (and better distributed for less) at the local level.
Why do the new generations not volunteer? Why, the gumment pays for all those others, right? Thanks (for nothing).

I have thought that Mitch McConnell might be the anti-Christ, but there is no way Satan would look that goofy. Dick Cheney is the current frontrunner, with Eric Cantor definitely in the short list as a possibility.

Eric Cantor will be surprised to find out he’s a “hyper-christian,” since he’s Jewish. But that’s even better for your argument!

Further evidence that the Congressional GOP doesn’t give a crap about socio-economically disadvantaged American families, using anecdotal examples to justify their callous lack of empathy.
Case in point — at a time when there are a greater number of families in poverty … it makes perfect sense to reduce the number of families that can qualify for food stamps.
So do you feed the kids, pay the heating bill, or gas up the car (assuming that you even own one) so that you can go to work? Take your pick.
Congressional Republicans had previously opposed and filibustered legislation that would enact the so-called Buffet Rule. Their rationalization:
The “Buffett Rule” bill would not, in of itself, solve the deficit problem. They used the same reasoning when blocking legislation that would eliminate subsidies for the petroleum industry and tax breaks for corporations that ship jobs overseas.
So if a bill does not, by itself, eradicate the federal deficit, then it’s not worth passing …
…. and so naturally the GOP strives to block funding for PP, NPR, PBS and AmeriCorps … and of course, slash funding for Medicaid and the Food Stamp program, because obviously those are the most significant — and clearly the least essential — programs impacting alleged excessive government spending, and each of these Republican proposals will make a huge impact on reducing the deficit, right?
Cue the well-deserved eye roll and face palm.

What kind of people elect a depraved psycho like Eric Cantor to Congress? It absolutely boggles my mind to think that an entire congressional district could be this sick in the head.
Basheert
Dec. 21st, 2012 at 1:16 pm
The same kind of people that elect someone like Allan West – Richard Mourdock, Todd Akin?
Eric Cantor may very well be one of the nastiest and sickest members our Congress have ever seen. A hater of the first order – a sleazy nasty money grubbing bag of slime who would stick a knife in your back rather than give a child a meal.
I don’t have much use for the Drunken Boner – but next to Eric Cantor, he looks like a prince. Eric Cantor and Paul Ryan – who raises children like these? What went wrong with their parents? To produce men who think that starving children, stopping meals for the elderly, denying health care to sick children and people with pre-existing conditions all should die because they cost money to take care of?
Disgusting rapacious human beings .. should be crushed like the nasty bugs that they are (apologies to cockroaches everywhere).

Eric Cantor is not the problem he is only the symptom of a much larger problem. That would be faux news.Day in and day out they spew their hateful propaganda so much that Eric[snidely whiplash]cantor, the Reich wing, the American Taliban and the whole republican party believes the bovine excrement.
A man sets fire to a mosque because he hears on faux that Muslims are evil.FAIL.The President is in over his head.FAIL.The American people stands with them.FAIL.The irony of all ironies, remember Rick Santelli of CNBC went on that rant that spawn the teabaggers? You reap what you sow.Now that the fiscal cliff is looming I don’t see any more rants because now my money is at risk.FAIL.And the ultimate fail belongs to the orange one,the boner I present the Speaker of the House John Boehner. Not only he had his lunch money taken from him by the President, again. With that theater of the absurd last night on the vote, his own caucus gave him the middle finger and said cry me a river of that.He has no power,no respect and now he is truly the worst speaker in history. All from smelling their own shit and saying it don’t stink.Which bring me back to the quisling Eric Cantor, you have succeeded in your coup and come Jan.you will be in charge of the asylum You help instigate,I would wish you good luck but I will be to busy eating my popcorn LMBAO!!!!

You are right in some ways but yes, Eric Cantor IS one of the problems. To elect an inhuman money grubbing monster like Eric Cantor is absolute perversion.
Eric Cantor wants the Speaker Job – so far he has supported the Drunk Boner, but he wants that job. Boner is a jerk but he couldn’t go to hell far enough to reach where Cantor came from. And Boner had better not turn his back on Cantor…a man like him has no ethics and no filter.
Eric Cantor may very well be one of the worst human beings in Congress. Paul Ryan running a close second. We all think Boner is bad .. but Cantor? It will take years to get the stench out of Congress when he finally goes.

Obama has to keep his cool and defend the rights of those who voted for him. We cannot let the repugs win this one.
Cantor is a racist and he also wants Boehner’s job.
Don’t take your eyes off Ryan…..no no no! He is biding hid time.

You are SO right about that. Everyone needs to keep a close eye on Paul Ryan…do not kid yourself that the Republicans are done here. They haven’t killed off everyone they want to get rid of yet. They still face heavy opposition –
and when you corner a dangerous wounded animal, watch out!

Eric Cantor is one of the Republicans I despise the most. He’s a back stabber who wants John Boehner’s job as speaker so badly he’s willing to sabotage him as a means toward that end. He’s a smarmy, smirking weasel who has no humanity running through his veins. That’s why he could suggest cutting funding for disaster relief for emergencies like hurricanes, earthquakes, and other such disasters. So, his callousness toward the poor, along with his warmongering spirit, should come as no surprise to anyone.

Eric Cantor is a sad piece of work. Sleazy backstabber doesn’t even begin to cover it. I am ashamed he is from Virginia. Not my district, but my state. I do NOT understand how he got re-elected. There was a good man running against him.
You just can’t talk to some of these Republicans here that vote against their own interests. These same people attest to being patriots and Christians and wave the flag and beat their chests and vote in this tool who is against everything Christian and American. I think he is a psychopath. He has no feeling for anyone. Self-serving little bastard. How do we get rid of these mentally deficient jerks who are hurting all of America? The next election for his seat is too far off. He needs to be gone now. Along with all the other teabaggers. What they are doing amounts to treason in my estimation. I say lets charge them with treason and arrest them all.

This article is a complete lie! I was against this proposal, because, taxes should not go up on anyone in the middle of a recession. However, this failed bill had none of these cuts in it. The Whitehouse and the press are lieing to the idiots that believe everything they say.

Wrong nate. There were two parts to the bill. One was spending cuts and one was taxes. The spending vcuts passed the house, the tax bill failed
Do your research.
“Boehner and other GOP leaders had firmly indicated earlier Thursday that they had sufficient support to pass the Plan B legislation, along with another package of spending cuts. “We’re going to have the votes to pass both the permanent tax relief bill as well as the spending reduction bill,” House Majority Leader Eric Cantor, R-Va., told reporters at a press conference at the Capitol.”
But a breakdown became evident after the GOP-dominated House only narrowly passed the package of spending reductions, which was intended to replace automatic defense cuts, or “sequestration.” That measure, meant to encourage possible conservative dissenters to support the tax proposal, squeaked to victory by a margin of 215-209, with twenty-one Republicans voting against the bill.
The House then immediately went into an unexpected recess, with members huddled behind closed doors before announcing the end of votes for the evening.
A source in the room tells NBC News that Boehner made an impassioned plea for his members to support the bill, saying they would lose their negotiating power if they didn’t pass it. But his pleas – and urging from an emotional Mike Kelly, R-Penn., were not enough to muster the needed votes.

I’d say we go off the cliff. Both sides suck. The House is making deals. The Senate ain’t doing shit! WTF is all of them dumbasses doing up there? All I know is that I am out of work, looking high and low for cheap jobs just to pay my bills and all I see is more taxes on the horizon that’ll deplete my income to pay for someone elses shit. This sucks! I can’t pay anymore taxes. And my employer that layed me off closed up shop and claimed Bankruptcy because they couldn’t afford to pay us technicians our meager salary. The Jews have been persecuted for years, now Cantor is persecuting those who are vulnerable. What next, free train rides? Is this his way of thinning the population? What religious person would think of depriving anyone of food? What part of the Constitution that he swore to uphold is in agreement with his philosophy? In the Hippocratic oath, every doctor lives by it states”do no harm.” Where are Cantor’s ethics> Let’s take away his paycheck,,,,he certainly doesn.t earn one! His family, I hope, are in shock of this latest effort to “save money.”
