They try to hook students in college and get them to drop out and “get a REAL job!”, then work hard to program them to accepting a position as a grunt laborer (for instance) for the rest of their lives. Some people escape and finally get back to where they used to be (it took me 25 years), some people never escape. I’ve often wondered why it happened and a friend of mine explained it this way – that by keeping people miserable, they’re easier to control and manipulate.

My parents were middle class and educated. I’ve been poor since I got involved with those goddamned churches and still haven’t acquired a life, although I’m trying (returned to school and an MA so far) – in fact, all I’ve acquired so far is a few more years of poverty and a huge debt.

The 1% and their sycophants have a lot to answer for… but as we know, in this country, justice is non-existent for the most part (or you can get the best justice money can buy).

Meritocracy will only happen when people are allowed to rise to their level of competency, and aren’t held back by artificial barriers… like the effects of toxic religion, health, age, gender, or any of the other things used to discriminate.

At some point the elite status is eroded because they have no more of a base to maintain their wealth. Their own greed will finish them off. their own status will bring about their own demise
