Fox News Uses Winter Storms as Evidence against Global Warming
On FNC’s America’s Newsroom today, reporter Greg Palkot was delivering a report on how the recent winter weather in Europe is causing travel problems, when he added, “A pre winter storm like Europe hasn’t seen in years, forget about all that global warming talk.” According to Fox, snow in winter is now evidence against global warming.
Here is the video courtesy of Media Matters:
The first part of Palkot’s report was dedicated to the fact that the weather has caused problems for the Eurostar line, when he delivered his own little bit of commentary, “A pre-winter winter storm like Europe hasn’t seen in years, forget about all that global warming talk.”
Deniers try to paint climate change as a strictly a shifted in climate. According to them climate change means that it will hot in winter and cold in the summer, but they ignore the agreement among the vast majority of scientists that climate change exasperates climate, which leads to long terms climate changes. If Europe would start experiencing these kinds of pre winter storms with regularity then that could be a symptom of climate change.
One winter storm does not prove or disprove the science on climate change, no matter what Fox News wants its viewers to believe. One of the network’s standard defenses against charges of bias is that their news division is separate from their commentators, but as Palkot demonstrated this is not actually the case.
Ideology colors the reporting on Fox News. Palkot could have given his report on travel conditions in Europe without commenting on global warming, but instead he had to frame his report as evidence against global warming. This is not something that an objective news division does, and it most certainly isn’t fair and balanced.

Recording breaking cold and winter storms may not disprove global warming, but they don’t exactly add to the science of global warming either. While weather and climate are certainly different, there’s been a cooling period going on for a decade. While long acknowledged by everyone else, even the “scientists” acknowledged in their “stolen” FOIA emails that they couldn’t explain the cooling.
- Temperatures have been HIGHER in the past than today even without man and his industry.
- Global warming, and cooling follows trends with other planets within our solar system. Common denominator? That would be our sun.
- Long before these climategate emails, there was evidence of suppression of climate data. As examples, temperature monitors in the US almost universally broke most of the rules (being on asphalt, near HVAC outputs, near traffic etc). The hockey stick graph skews actual historical temperatures. The computer modeling is based on CO2 being essentially the only greenhouse gas, when it isn’t even the primary. CO2 levels historically rise AFTER rises in temperature. On and on and on.
Scientists looking for funding and politicians looking for control should not get to spend trillions of our money “just in case” when the science undermines their claims and views. Keep studying it, but let’s be honest and look at the facts. We’re no where near ready to start regulating a planetary climate, nor should we if we could.

This is kind of a case of the pot calling the kettle black.
Yes Fox is biased, they will freely admit it.
I know what I am going to get when I watch their channel.
I came here and experienced the flip side of the coin, you claim to be fair and balanced and criticize fox for bias when I have never seen more a biased website than this one, and I regularly visit political sites from both sides.
Your liberal readership my love these articles but your complete one sided destruction of anything republican and your glowing praise of anything liberal will not win over anyone with a brain to think for themselves.
After reading “Right Wing Jihad” on this site I think that the author needs to be made aware that Obama is married and has not shown the slightest inclination toward returning his adoration.
