For starters, he and his financiers do think the American people are idiots and they have no reason to question that belief, nor to believe that the majority of voters even do a perfunctory fact check, much less turn over a heavy, dirty rock to search for truth or reliability. Maybe if there were money under it, but for truth? Meh.

And why would they believe otherwise? Fox News has over 2 million daily viewers (who passionately believe and quote Fox News as if its hosts were prophets and its ledes were inscribed on stone tablets by the flaming finger of God) while the nearest competitor (MSNBC) reaches fewer than 1 million dirty socialist elitist marxist islamofascist gay and lesbian hippy perverts per day.

Have you looked up Mitt Romney on Wikipedia lately? You’d think he was Jesus, Gandhi, Thomas Jefferson and Einstein rolled into one. Nary a word in the whole article about Massachusetts’ dismal economic and workforce indicators while he was Governor. And if Wiki doesn’t say it, it never happened!

Americans, by and large, aren’t idiots, but a significant number are undereducated, intellectually lazy, politically gullible, leery of critical thinking and easily distracted by … oh, look … shiny!
