Newt Gingrich’s Delusional Vision Of Self Help Salvation For The Masses
When Republican presidential front-runner (???!!&%#??) Newt Gingrich recently came up with the loopy idea of firing public school janitors and replacing them with hard-working (and, most importantly, non-unionized) child student workers, the only thing surprising was that anyone was surprised such a crazy idea could come from Mr. Gingrich. Because anyone who has followed Gingrich’s career for any length of time knows that his approach to generating fresh new conservative ideas is to simply spew forth whatever brain droppings happen to be rattling around inside his overheated little cranium at any given time, then stand back and behold whatever sticks to the wall.
Voila. It is done.
And yet, in Gingrich’s defense, not all his ideas are bad ones. No one has ever accused the man of being stupid, just more like a smart bomb with a dismantled directional signal. Sometimes he hits the target, sometimes… not so much. In cooperation with Professional Famous Rich Person Donald Trump, Gingrich has since announced his intention to produce a sort of special edition of Trump’s reality show The Apprentice, which would seek to identify 10 ‘deserving’ poor kids from New York and then put them to work. The desired result of this magnanimous gesture, of course, will be that the poor lost child souls will swiftly become more like the rich white guys who put them on display while also proving that child labor laws are indeed stupid (says Newt) and are standing in the way of giving poor kids a chance to work their way upward from the gutters that spawned them to Trump Tower respectability.
Before pursuing this Gingrich thought thread any further, just remember what Gingrich said in November when he gave a speech at Harvard, because this is what kicked the whole thing off. From The Christian Science Monitor:
After the Harvard appearance Nov. 18 in which he criticized child labor laws, Gingrich later tried to elaborate, telling an Iowa audience that poor children have “no habits of working and have nobody around them who works,” and aren’t used to getting paid “unless it’s illegal.”
This is also the man who said that liberals are working to “turn the whole country into Detroit,” meaning “we will all be uneducated, we will all be poor, and we will all live in dangerous places.” This is the man who referred to the nation’s first African American President Barack Obama as the “food stamp president.” And this is the man to whom poor children should flock to seek guidance? A man who so openly despises them, who believes that their only chance to become worthwhile Americans is to become more like him and Donald Trump? Sure, Gingrich is obviously pandering to the racist, class-based fears running rampant in certain corners of his party, and it’s working. Nearly all polls show him to now be the leading Republican presidential candidate by fairly large margins. More importantly, polls show him to be ahead in Iowa.
But is this really the best the Republican Party has to offer America? Is this the best Newt Gingrich has to offer?

“…But is this really the best the Republican Party has to offer America? Is this the best Newt Gingrich has to offer? Really?…”
Yeah, it is; this is their “Best in Show”. Because, the GOP has failed, once again, to groom a charismatic leader to become a beloved dictator.
The GOP has no idea how to govern…remember Bush’s “it’s harrrd to do this president stuff, it’s real harrrrd”? Republicans can only “rule” by force by a cult of personality via a groomed charismatic leader who usually winds up to be an oppressive dictator. That is their best shot!
They’ve shown all their cards the past two years…they’ve been bluffing all along about democracy, voting, stuff like that…
What we’re witnessing is how a radical, fundamentalist minority uses a propaganda machine to over-throw a government. It’s a formula; Newt thinks he’s the Pied Piper than can deliver…however, delusional people also believe they are the King of Siam, can walk on water and will jump off the bridge if their best friend tells them to…yep, this is the best the republicans can do.

This is what concerns me about their push for changes in voter registration and restrictions, it’s their backup plan to stealing elections. What the H are we going to do? I do NOT trust the Republican machine.

Since I live in one of the 14 states with the “new voter suppression laws”, the thing we MUST do and are doing here in Tennessee, is keeping the stories of woe in the news – continuously – we managed to get a retired white couple, educators, to testify before the US Congress due to what they called a “poll tax” because the DMV clerks told them, to pay the $8.00 for a replacement driver’s license – the photo ID paperwork was TOO ONEROUS – and they REFUSED and got their FREE PHOTO IDS. Many states, like Tennessee, do not have a photo requirement on driver’s licenses AFTER AGE 60, but this couple would NOT GO ALONG WITH THE PLAN~

Gingrich needs to be reminded that most of people forced to use food stamps
are victims of Bush and the GOP.

Gingrich should be restricted to the food budget of “the little people”, and then he’d become a more managable size himself.

I know it’s weird, but I am so loving the Republican/Corporatist Oblivious and Venal Train that we’re all seeing now. It’s always been there, sub rosa, but now, thanks to the geniuses (or would that be geniusi, in Trump speak?)who thought it a most excellent idea to subject the American public to endless hours of Republican debates, it becomes increasingly harder to deny that what we’re seeing is the equivalent of our next door neighbor, who thinks if he plants thistle seeds, he’ll magically grow cucumbers.
Yes, I know that, statistically speaking, half the population is below average in intelligence. The GOP seems to think these people are the Democratic base, and they have scurried to enact ridiculous “Voter fraud” laws, where no need exists. And they are soooo wrong. As John Stewart Mill once famously said: Not all Conservatives are stupid, but all stupid people are Conservatives. So, erm . . . how many Conservative voters have Republicans disenfranchised with their entirely unnecessary, totally ridiculous voting regulations?
You know, I used to be a proudly registered Republican. And truth to tell, now it greatly embarrasses me to admit it.

It’s sad to see the state the GOP of 2011 is in today. The cast of characters running for the GOP nomination appeal to the very worst in Americans with their appeals to bigotry, short-sighted selfishness, counterproductive anger toward “others, and homegrown ignorance. These things are what are driving thoughtful, intelligent people like you from the party, since it’s been taken over by lunatics.
