Glenn Beck Bombs As Only 1,000 Attend Jerusalem Rally
This is how it ends for Glenn Beck. His Restoring Courage rally was sparsely attended by an estimated 1,000 people and largely ignored by the US media. Beck’s once rising star has now fallen into the gutter.
Glenn Beck had high hopes for Jerusalem. This was going to be his big post Fox News comeback. He has been using the Restoring Courage rally to hype and his soon to launch GBTV internet service. The first signs of trouble for Beck came when Think Progress noted that the venue was, “surprisingly small.” They never realized at the time that this small venue would feature empty seats.

A Beck spokesman told Yahoo’s The Cut Line, “But in the end, 1,700 supporters showed for the sold-out event, and an additional 3,000 gathered at a nearby viewing station where it was beamed in live.” However, this claim has been roundly disputed by those who were in attendance. Israeli writer Ami Kaufman was there and he put attendance at about 1,000. More importantly, Kaufman had a more stinging criticism. The event was dull.

If you are looking for one word to sum up how Glenn Beck went from drawing 3 million viewers nightly on Fox News to seeing his audience plummet and Fox severing ties with him, that word would be dull. By believing his own hype while taking himself too seriously, Glenn Beck bored his fans into leaving him. After his Restoring Honor rally bombed last year, it was the height of self-delusion for him to think that thousands would follow him to Israel.
Glenn Beck was fine when he was the conservative rodeo clown providing a nightly dose of entertainment to the blue hairs that make up the Fox News audience, but his program became too dark, too paranoid, too religious, and too stuck on one paranoid conspiracy theory note to maintain its appeal.
Yossi Sarid seemed to speak for many Israelis who weren’t thrilled with having Beck’s circus in their country either, “Beck, Hagee and their swarm are anti-Semites, who are not even aware of their anti-Semitism and the extent of its ugliness. Or maybe they are. In recent years this anti-Semitism has not been directed mainly against Jews, for they have found the Arab substitute for it. Now they are using the Arabs to scare Israel and the Muslims to scare the world. And the white, Aryan lion will devour them and their undercover envoys such as Barack Hussein. The visit ended yesterday, the circus is folding its tent and moving elsewhere. Let’s pray it will not return soon. Mr. Beck, don’t come back. We’re not short of dangerous wackos here.”
The turnout for Restoring Courage proved one thing. Glenn Beck needed the platform of Fox News more than Fox News ever needed Beck. The media platform to push his dark wares is gone now, and for most of America it is out of sight out of mind as it relates to Glenn Beck.

Oh, but they (Palin & Beck) will be together in October to shake up the world. They both believe that God called them to save the white people from the caliphat or whatever. There is no way that both of them are going to go quietly into the night. Their egos are too huge for that.

Anyone can take a picture of empty chairs before or after an event in a feeble attempt to satisfy the never-ending hate of its readers toward their enemy (in this case, Glenn Beck and conservatives in general). Much like the Washington Post photographed the “Restoring Courage” crowd just after dawn, hours before the event was to begin, in an attempt to show a smaller-than-actual crowd (which was already huge, but turned out to be a packed to the gills event).
Thanks for the “honest” reporting.

you just proved nothing except to quote an urban legend. Restoring courage was never bigger than 87,000 people and never even came close to the John Stuart Colbert rally
I look forward to your next urban legend

Sorry, but I saw part of each rally in full sunlight on TV, and the Stewart/Colbert rally stretched far further than anything you and Beck imagine.

It never fails to amaze me that some people have a really hard time facing the truth and will do anything to preserve their cognitive dissonance. I was reading about Beck’s rally on the Jerusalem Post site @ three weeks ago, and I was stunned by the number of comments that were being made in support of his rally. Between that time and last week, the word got out that Beck is no friend of Israel or the Jews, and that he is an extremist. You can imagine my surprise when I logged onto Ha’aretz earlier this week to discover that Beck has successfully united the Left and the Right in Israel to the point where both groups were opposing his rally. In fact, iirc, the title of the post was something like “Beck Unites Israelis on the Left and the Right in Opposing His Rally.” Boy, I felt good when I read that post! IMO, Beck’s only friends are his ego and lots of cold hard cash. Kudos to the Israelis who refused him both!!!

My daughter and I attended the Colbert-Stewart rally, and it was super crowded. Our first clear glimpse of the stage came when we walked to the Capitol above the mall and watched it from the area near the reflecting pool. I’ve never seen so many people in my entire life! The mall was packed, the steps of the surrounding buildings were packed, people were sitting on top of concession trucks, the subway was packed, and the entire area of D.C. near the event, and beyond, was PACKED with thousands of people.

did you see me wave, majii?
we were so shocked by the number of people at the restoring sanity rally. we were initially in the fenced off area. i feared for the safety of those who had brought their children and picnic blankets. hopefully, they all got out without incident.
we assumed that everyone was supposed to enter the space at the lower end and help with the crowd estimate and that’s where we were headed. until we noticed that people were going over the barricades and even pushing them open.
the crowd was so large that we never even saw or heard jon stewart or stephen colbert or anyone else for that matter.
glenn beck’s gathering was a joke in comparison. anyone doubts it can go to youtube and see for themselves.

Soem people just can’t or won’t admit it will they? Admit the truth is. What is it about you people that you make excuses for people like this–and even lie for them when we can see and hear ourselves. I mean really. Do you think the left can’t hear see? what? DO YOU MEAN KINDA LIKE THEY DID WITH PALIN AND BECK AT THEIR RALLY? ALL FAKE PICTURES fom years past?..You mean like that kind of fakery? THAT WAS REAL. NO ONE GAVE a CRAP THEN and they DON’T GIVE a crap now. hmmm..maybe he should of tried his fake drama crying tears..I’m sure the folks would have come running then.

Er… Ok, screw the pictures, if you want. Let’s take Beck’s own people at their word. They counted less than five thousand attendees total. That’s still a pitiful number, even when you compare it solely to Beck’s previous performances. It doesn’t really matter what the photos show, it was a small-scale event by any measure you care to apply.

I am sure that if more than 5000 people showed up and filled all those chairs Beck and his organization would be spreading the pictures all over. They can’t show a huge audience because there wasn’t one.

Well that sure was a lot of hoopla for nothing. When he first announced going over there it seemed so strange. The logistics alone for such an event must have been daunting. I think, too, his going there prompted a great deal of skepticism from the populace living there. Doofus. I hope it cost him a fortune.

I think the straw that broke the came’s back occurred when Beck decided to ridicule the Israeli protesters, make fun of their calls for social justice, and make the claim that the protests were the result of some “leftwing” plot. Beck exposed himself as a Know Nothing, something many of us already knew. He didn’t know the political affiliations of the protesters, he doesn’t know the economic conditions that exist in Israel for many Israelis at this time, and he forgot that the word “social justice” is only a derogatory term in his mind and the minds of the ignorant individuals who suck up to him. He also forgot that the people in Israel are not nearly as gullible as many are here in America. I doubt he’s learned anything. I think this rally was a BIG FAIL because he ran his mouth and talked about things he knows nothing about, but he’s so full of himself that this failure will not cause him to reflect and change his behavior.

if Beck would have looked at this objectively he would’ve understood that his traveling minstrel show had no place in Israel. He can jump up and down and tell the Israeli Congress or Parliament whatever you want to call it that Barack Obama doesn’t support them, but the Israelis know exactly who Glenn Beck is. The Israelis are not people who will follow in idiot as easily as blank minded Americans will. They’ve been put through the ringer hundreds of times and somebody like Beck is almost beneath their contempt.
When I get a chance I’m going to look around and see if there are any numbers on the Internet for people who have subscribed to his radio shows. I know that some of it is free right now. But it’s got to be good for a laugh because that’s all Beck ever was good for
