A Good Housekeeping Approach to Gun Control
It’s Friday, and time for our new weekly series of Lipstick Liberal videos! Today, Lipstick Liberal takes on Gun Control as only she can.
In the name of full disclosure, I’m someone who doesn’t like guns. I don’t want them in my house and I’d like to take my dog for a walk feeling reasonably secure about our safety. The notion that someone who may be less than emotionally stable owning and using a ak-47 with thousands of shells is a bad idea regardless of my personal preferences concerning guns. With my limited knowledge about guns, I’ll speculate that one doesn’t need 3000 shells to go hunting, or defend their safety, the safety of others or their personal property.
Just the mention of sensible gun control gets the NRA in a tizzy. The same goes for politicians from both sides of the aisle that are beholden to the NRA. Whether it’s common sense ideas like keeping guns out of the hands of people who are emotionally disturbed, to enforcement of existing regulations, a panic ensues with declarations that gun control is about banning gun ownership.
Moreover, contrary to the hyperbolic rhetoric by the usual suspects on the right, our President has not shown any evidence of a desire to “come after everyone’s guns.”
Lipstick Liberal’s latest video highlights the issues mixed in with some great humor. Let’s watch.

GOOD HOUSEKEEPING
LL
Messy, messy, messy, Republican leaders,
Now, Lipstick Liberal’s not blaming you for all these big messes that keep happening by some very unclean people.
But, obviously you need a Good Housekeeping lesson…ON how to STOP these messes from happening from day, to day, to day!
I mean, Your not helping by allowing unclean things up on walls,
it just attracts flies
Your not helping, letting your obnoxious friends throw-up garbage anytime they want, it just spreads stinky hot-air!
And you are definitely not helping, by making it easy…for lots of stinky dirty people….to easily get the worst kind of dirt……who can easily make a mess of lots of things.
Nobody likes messy children!
So, Republican Leaders, grab your feather dusters and get to work on those Public Places….Go to your cupboards and throw out anything that’s expired……as always clean the ground area thoroughly!
If you start wavering just a little bit, Remember Lipstick Liberals Good Housekeeping motto…..DIRT….BEGETS DIRT…..Begets more dirt.
If I didn’t know better,
I would think there is some dirt manufacture making a whole lotta money off all these messes. How Silly!
Until next time, Lipstick Liberal says…

Cute…but I have to be real here. I AM in favor of commonsense REGULATION of firearms and ammunition, as well as a better system of ‘closing the cracks’ that crooks and crackpots slip through; but every time someone puts out something like this, it’s ALWAYS “AK-47″! GODDAMN, PEOPLE, THE AURORA SHOOTER, THE VA. TECH SHOOTER, THE AZ. SHOOTER — NONE OF THEM HAD AK’S!!! STOP DEMONIZING A SYMBOL (which, BTW, was a stalwart of the old USSR!) that few own and fewer use.
EXAMPLE: In the past year, in my little town (about 200,000 pop.), there have been a rash of shootings; only recently has anyone publicly attributed them to gang-related activity. ONE, however, is unique — it WASN’T gang-related, and it DID involve an AK-47 in the hands of a thug. He sprayed over three dozen bullets at his ‘baby mama’ from less than forty feet; she was wounded, and back out of the hospital in about ten days. HE’S now in prison, looking at 45 years. THIS was the ONLY AK-related shooting I can recall in the last decade.
I know it’s easier to type and say “AK-47″ than it is “assault weapon”, especially when there is so much contention about ‘what IS an assault weapon?’; but we as a people need to quit with the fear-mongering by using such loaded references. Say what you mean. BE CORRECT.

FYI, Aurora shooter used an AR-15, which is a lightweight, 5.56 mm, magazine-fed, semi-automatic rifle — a military-style assault rifle, capable of firing 50-60 rounds a minute. After it jammed, he switched to his 12-gauge shotgun.

What about assault rifles? More bullets than a pistol or rifle. Who needs to outgun law enforcers? Glocks are not water pistols.

Just to clear things up a bit, the Reminton 223 or 5.56 mm Nato round is an excellent hunting round for deer, fur bearing predators, and other small fur bearing animals (squirrels, rabbits, etc.). The 7.62 x 39 mm round that the AK-47 uses is pretty much useless for hunting unless your prey walks on 2 legs.
Don’t let anyone tell you that hunting with a 223 or 5.56 mm Nato requires a 20 round magazine. My Ruger Mini-14 uses a 5 round magazine for hunting. That’s all any hunter needs.

Amen. I also think that gun show dealers should be required to follow the rules of gun shop owner. IDENTIFY><,,,,,,,,,,,Anyone selling guns or ammo on the internet should be prevented from doing so by AFT…Amen to that, too!

Given, as you said with your limited knowledge, I can tell you as a fairly average target shooting enthusiast I don’t need 3000 bullets to defend myself or property, however doing regular target practice at a range averaging 5 hours in a month 3000 bullets would conservatively me last 6 months, and its far cheaper to buy them in bulk just like anything else.
Also Inez, I am not awate of any legitimate way to buy a firearm on the Internet where it doesn’t first get shipped to a licensed gun dealer who is required to do the same background checks as if you bought it from them directly…
