Game On GOP: Benghazi Hearings Did Not Deter Hillary Clinton from 2016
Sorry, GOP, it didn’t work. The Benghazi hearings did not serve to deter Hillary Clinton from running for President in 2016.
The outgoing Secretary of State, who is one of the most popular politicians in America, told the Associated Press in an exclusive interview, “You have to have a thick skin because (politics) is just going to be a contact sport as far as we can look into the future.” The AP wrote that while the Benghazi attack was the low point for her time as Secretary of State, “the furor over the assault would not affect whether she runs for president in 2016.”
Clinton expounded on the way the Republicans refused to accept facts in the Benghazi hearings to the AP:
“I was so unhappy with the way that some people refused to accept the facts (regarding Benghazi), refused to accept the findings of an independent Accountability Review Board, politicized everything about this terrible attack. My job is to admit that we have to make improvements and we’re going to.
There are some people in politics and in the press who can’t be confused by the facts. They just will not live in an evidence-based world. And that’s regrettable. It’s regrettable for our political system and for the people who serve our government in very dangerous, difficult circumstances.”
Refusing to accept facts (aka, defeat) is what the Republican Party is known for, from climate denying to legitimate rape to falling for their own faked polls. The absurd Benghazi hearings were just another failed effort of a dying party to obstruct and smear the winning party.
Instead of using the hearings to actually learn new information, Republicans used the hearings to pontificate on television about things they knew little about. Those filled with the most hot air should have been embarrassed when the public was reminded that they skipped the Benghazi briefings, which may explain their stumbling attempts to come to grips with reality. Hillary made fast fools of her partisan interrogators, or rather, they made fools of themselves and she made no move to rescue them.
Clinton used the hearings to remind Republicans that it was their own party that obstructed aid to Libya, “… I will also tell you that since March 2011 congressional holds have been placed for many months for aid to Libya… Currently, the House has holds on bilateral security assistance, on other kinds of support, for anti-terrorism assistance.”
The good news is that Republican efforts to destroy Hillary Clinton preemptively for 2016 may indicate that they have finally accepted the legitimacy of real polls, which show Clinton with a strong advantage, even possibly taking Texas.
PPP’s newest Texas poll finds that, at least for now, Hillary Clinton could win the state in 2016. This follows on the heels of a survey last month where we found she would have a decent chance of winning Kentucky if she makes another White House bid.
The bad news is that while Republicans are able to concede to reality in order to destroy the opposition, they seem less willing to use the same information to reform their own party so as to address the actual reasons why they can’t win a national election. Republicans remain the party of Tonya Hardings, knee-capping the opposition because they can’t win on their own merits.
While Ms. Clinton avoided saying whether or not she’ll run in 2016 in this interview published on her last day of office in a non-political position, it should be noted that President Obama helped Ms. Clinton wipe out her 2008 campaign debt and gave a joint interview to 60 Minutes from which a Clinton campaign manager would find a plethora of perfect presidential quotes for a campaign ad.

I love Liz too, but she is only two years younger than Hillary, and really wants to impact the Senate. There is no one on Earth more prepared for the Presidency than Hillary Clinton, and no one more needed at this time in our history.

They’re both strong, wise, admirable women. Hillary just amazes me though. I love her confidence and I’m so glad she is one of those STRONG OUTSPOKEN LIBERAL WOMEN that the right despises for that very strength and independence in a woman. With the ability to speak intelligently. (unlike their sarah…) Knows her facts. That’s what scares them. They know the GOP cannot find that quality in any of their women leaders–well, maybe a small handful BUT YOU SEE THEY KEEP THEIR SANE INTELLIGENT ONES IN THE BACKGROUND. They do not have one woman or man ..who can compare the strength and knowledge of Hillary. NONE. Look at what they’re women leaders are saying..that raped woman should go to jail if she aborts the rapists baby. WTH? They defend men who want to stick probes in women, deny them health care screenings. Do these women leaders not have daughters or mothers? So they would deny their daughter those tests? Anyway, I’m glad she schooled those boys. Because that’s all they are. Bullies with an agenda to make you suffer if you’re non white poor or democratic but will break their backs and sweat like dogs to convince you still–that tax breaks for the rich are the job creators! 8 YEARS UNDER BUSH..4 WITH OBAMA…JOBS anyone from the rich? Hillary is going to eat these guys alive when she runs in 2016! They DO NOT HAVE A CHANCE.

I know she doesn’t “owe” America anything after so many years of service, of putting up with DC and all the personal attacks– but for my daughters’ sake, I would LOVE to see her in the White House in 2016! Not for the symbolism of a female president (not that it’s not important), but because she is just so d@mn effective, capable and knowledgeable.

I just hope her health holds up. She has not been a placeholder, but has done service under gruelling conditions that would have killed most of us in a week.
Elizabeth Warren…yes, I like that.

Can you just see the smoke-filled rooms right now? Not only does the GOP have to come up with a counter to Hillary, but the party who really, truly hates strong women sees a whole lot of smart, capable Demicratic women not just marking time until 2016, but actually making a difference in DC and their states. Look at GOP possibilities: Jindal (yeah, right,) Christie (do we get to make fat jokes about thsi obese bully since the GOP is STILL commenting on Michelle’s awesome physique?) Santorum (yes, the king of the sperm/egg joining will be back) Ryan (the GOP still appreciates a good liar, and Paul is truly in a class by himself.) And those are all rich white men. Surely, you say, there must be one intelligent GOP woman around. Well, gee, you have Kelly Ayotte (she of the fight against Planned Parenthood and the endorsement of kingmaker Sarah Palin,) and Nicki Haley. Somehow I don’t these these Sarah-clones will be any mroe popular nationwide than Palin has proven to be. So no, the GOP has NO ONE in the same class as Hillary, Liz Warren, and many others. See, GOP, in order for you to nurture strong, independent, intelligent women, you must first believe that women are every bit as entitled to education and opoortunity as you are. And you don’t. And never will. Watching the GOP wither and disintegrate is going to be fun. And anyone who thinks they can recover only has to look at the recent re-election of loser Reince Preibus (RNC PR BS) himself. They want a whiner, not a winner.

I just loved the way she nailed those ignorant, hate-filled, reality-denying morons. She is truly a woman of courage, who had the backbone to call out the Congressional Republicans for their irrational, obstinate refusal to accept the existence of facts that don’t fit into their skewed conspiracy theories. It was just as gratifying to observe how she included some members of the media in her searing and truthful criticism. I also hope she will run, because she is definitely the strong woman that Republicans are threatened by, in spite of all their previous efforts to portray the likes of Sarah Palin and Michele Bachmann as being strong.
