Gun Nuts to Build 2,000 Acre Citadel in Idaho’s American Redoubt
By: Hrafnkell HaraldssonJan. 13th, 2013more from Hrafnkell Haraldsson

CNS News reports that, ” A group of like-minded patriots, bound together by pride in American exceptionalism, plan on building an armed community to protect their liberty.”
Notice the keywords used:
American exceptionalism
armed community
liberty
Yes, the worst elements of the Second and Tenth Amendments have come together in the creation of a monstrous American afterbirth.
According to CNS,
The group, named Citadel, intends to purchase 2,000 to 3,000 acres for the project in western Idaho. The community will comprise of 3,500 to 7,000 families of patriotic Americans who “voluntarily choose to live together in accordance with Thomas Jefferson’s ideal of Rightful Liberty.”
By contrast,, the mound of the biblical city of Megiddo, in Israel, covers some 15 acres, and early Roman London was about 350 acres. Central part is 843 acres.
We are not talking about a small community. If each family is 3 people, a minimum estimate, we are talking about a town of from 10-20,000 people. You know these people intend to breed, because they see themselves as the last best hope of White America.
The Citadel site explains their concept in the following terms:
“The Citadel is evolving as a planned community where residents are bound together by:”

PROJECT LAUNCH: We plan to purchase land for the Citadel in 2013 and break ground soon after. Even before unveiling our national advertising campaign, more than 200 families reserved space within our community!
WHY APPLY FOR RESIDENCE: If living in an affordable, safe, well-prepared, patriotic community where your children will be educated in school rather than indoctrinated, consider the Citadel. Approved applicants receive a Lifetime Lease (paid off in only 30 years). No credit check. No background check. Zero down payment. Zero interest. Zero property taxes.
What is amusing is the group’s description of what they embrace and consequently, what they abhor.
“The Citadel is not profit-driven. The Citadel is Liberty-driven: specifically Thomas Jefferson’s Rightful Liberty.”
Jefferson’s rightful liberty apparently demands that, “Residents should also agree that being ‘prepared for the emergencies of life and being proficient with the American icon of Liberty — the Rifle — are prudent measures.’”
And of course, we all know how Jefferson felt about liberals:
Marxists, Socialists, Liberals and Establishment Republicans will likely find that life in our community is incompatible with their existing ideology and preferred lifestyles.
I’m just throwing this out there, but I am thinking the group missed a few American history classes. Or maybe the only book on Jefferson they have read is David Barton’s counter-history, The Jefferson Lies. Just sayin’.
Liberalism, of course, is all about liberty. Liberty for all, not just a few who embrace a particular ideology, but those of all ideologies and religions. Citadel misses that important point entirely, as a group of gun-loving, government-hating, right-wing extremists who want to hide from an increasingly modern and diverse world.
Instead liberty for all, Citadel says that every patriot selected to live within the community “will voluntarily agree to follow the footsteps of our Founding Fathers by swearing to one another our lives, our fortunes and our Sacred Honor to defend one another and Liberty against all enemies, foreign and domestic.”
In other words, gun down all those icky people who are different from you. Not that icky people are likely to be getting in, as “the community will be protected by a perimeter wall that will be inaccessible to ‘tourists.’ Each neighborhood within the community will have lower walls, dividing the town into defensible sections.”
They can’t build a Great Wall around America’s borders, so they’re going to build them around their Citadel, complete with towers: a medieval fortified city, though they call it castle.
I guess we can rest assured they won’t be asking for government assistance. They have created their own firearms company after all, to employ the first wave of pioneers (though gun sales tell us they’ll be well-armed when they arrive). They figure tourism will take care of the rest, as Americans travel to see the freaks in the American redoubt in their natural habitat.

I’m guessing they don’t plan on paying property taxes on any of this land. I’m not sure how Idaho law works, but hypothetically they could be subject to judicial foreclosure for the tax debt.
If that were to come to pass, I would propose a different solution: they clearly don’t want anyone to come in, so the rest of the country should not let them out.

Unless they get well funded people to buy in to their concept, the community will fail financially. What industry are they going to have to support this military bastion? Almost all the people who I know who are super pro gun owners spend a lot of money on guns and not so much on the quality of their lives, depend on jobs to fund their lifestlyes. They generally are very independent people and are quite uncooperative if they do not get their way.

This has all the aroma of a powerful scam to separate people from their $$ in as efficient a manner as possible. Don’t take my word for it, go take a look at Tom Monaghan’s Citadel. The small print provides for a select group to hold power in perpetuity, and the residents are now finding that they can’t get out. It’s a matter of time before this scam falls apart. Time and money. :)

Look at the layout..they have space for a Farmer’s Market, but no farmland at all. And with no taxes, who is going to pay for roads, electric lines, the schools (or brainwashing facilities,) and fire protection? Not to mention water lines, sewers and the maintenance of such. And it’s Idaho, so there’s snow. Do you see any place for snow removal equipment? salt storage? And, what about trash pickup? People who think they want to live in some ‘gated’ community had better read the fine print first. A gun will not give you any quality of life.

Apparently farms will be located primarily outside the main fortress with the ability to rent a “microsuite” of 300 sq ft inside the citadel proper if desired. That’s how they get around residents paying property taxes, by the by. It’s all rented. But that doesn’t explain how the land owners are going to handle property taxes.
I too, sense a scam. The prices are too good to be true.
The patriot agreement is scary, by the by. If this is for real, I pity any innocent children who get dragged there.

It sounds like a fool’s paradise, if that fool hates the U.S. You really have to wonder who is going to pay for a concrete fortress type wall around 2000 acres. That is many miles of wall and to fulfill its purpose, it would need to be high, and, possibly, have inside walks for guards and troops who would defend the place from assault. Millions of bucks just for the wall. I don’t think so.

And yet Idaho students average higher SAT scores than California, Oregon, and Washibgton. We tend to mock what we don’t understand. To top it off, my interracial family has lived in California, Washington, Idaho, Kansas, and Missouri. I have found Idaho to be the least racist place to live of those 5 states. The Bay area in California is the least educated, most violent, racially hyper-sensitive area I have ever experienced. Would love the opportunity to get back to Idaho. Great place to raise and educate a family.

Least educated? Somehow, I doubt the students at Berkeley and USF would agree.
Most violent? Exaggerate much? On the FBI’s list of the most dangerous cities in America in 2012, the only one in the Bay area was Oakland (4th) — and the two most violent were Flint and Detroit, MI (www.examiner.com/article/...)
Racially hyper-sensitive? If the Bay area is so racially hyper-sensitive, how did SF elect an African American mayor [Willie Brown] to two terms, and Oakland elect two [Lionel Wilson, Ron Dellums], plus an Asian American woman [Jean Quan]?

Who will watch those who feel they are the rightful leaders? How long before the walls become a prison? How long before anarchy begins and killing goes with it? How long before the people doing the worl become lesser people?
American exceptionalism is their brand of racism. They are going to find a hollow life. Hi, How big is your gun? Oh about 2 inches.
Basing your life on guns and calling it liberty is about 20 degrees past hilarious. How long before the little people figure out the the government isnt there to attack them and they want out? Can you check out? WHat kind of propaganda will the NRA spread around to keep the people riled to the max?

I don’t know, but even if all the people who go in are adults, they’re surely planning to breed little white children as repositories for their ideals and their genome. Alex Jones, is that you?
The ONLY president assassinated due to his stance on slavery was Lincoln . . . the Civil War had ended by the presidency of Garfield, who was killed by a rejected office seeker, and McKinley, who was killed by a madman . . . and the people who wanted Kennedy dead were part of the military-industrial complex opposed to his withdrawal from Vietnam; Civil Rights was a side issue {for both of them.} And Southern “Democrats” who were against Civil Rights in the 60s were known as “Dixiecrats”, and later became known by another name: Republicans.

If it does I will say “Let them go!” They have already left us mentally long ago. If they want their own place to sell crazy then that will just mean less of them fucking up our system by voting for fools and power hungry parasites and pocket monkeys.
They want to leave our country, be my guest I say. Don’t let the door hit you in the ass on the way out.

Ah yes, Northern Idaho…. This is but one of dozens of white supremacist schemes that have been hatched over the years. They might end up with a couple dozen fanatics living in ramshackle huts before the scheme collapses, but like all the communes of the 60′s, failure is guaranteed.
They want to manufacture weapons to support their economy? I wonder if they understand just how much ATF involvement that will create. Should they attempt to sell a single weapon outside Idaho borders would be interstate commerce and the FTC would be all over them. Their “economy” would be dumpster diving in the closest town.
No taxes? Who do they think they’re kidding? This isn’t planning, it’s wingnut day dreaming…

As far as taxes go, the taxes due on the land will be paid…. just not by the leasers. The actual owners of the property will be paying the taxes. THIS is why I would not move there. This is not Liberty. Liberty demands me being able to own my property.

Wouldn’t it be great to see who exactly owns the land?
Who did they buy it from? When?
Do they have a loan on the property?
Did they pay cash for the property?
I hope some smart report is already out there looking at county records, land sales and, deeds on their parcel plus surrounding areas…I would LOVE to know how this all went down! Let’s see who’s really behind this little cult.

Lance, Lance, Lance…you know, deep down inside, fundamental tribalism is never the answer to societies ills.
These are political fundamentalist. They believe the past is full of ‘the good old days’, that the end is near, and, if we all ban together against the tide of change, against the constant “changes” to our world, then, they can control “change” and the world!
Fundamentalist think they are an extension of some kind of superior tribe sent by god to obey the ways of the elders of yore. Fundamentalism=no change.
They are not presenting “change” you can rely upon, but a hole to hide in against our universal reality; change is constant.

I just finished looking at their website. I wanted to see what this “weapon manufacturing” capacity really was. They aren’t “producing” anything. They’re buying parts from other manufacturers and simply assembling An AR-15 look-a-like as well as a Colt 1911 45 handgun. After reading through all the glowing BS, they promise better deliveries once they have the machinery ready to produce parts. they make no mention of having to obtain licensing to produce these weapons or the setup costs of producing a manufacturing facility with all the requisite machinery needed.
In short, they have nothing to generate an “economy” for all those dedicated patriots who will show up expecting a good paying job.
It’s a shell game relying on suckers. Their citadel will be an outhouse with a crenalated roof line…

Most people pitch a tent or buy or rent an RV and go to the mountains for a week or two and then go home and clean up and say “Got that out of my system!” Have these people (idiots) ever lived in the mountains? The winters are cold the growing season is very short, takes lots of wood to heat a home. No Sears to deliver a new washer and dryer or fridge. Everything is twice the price to heat, clothe and feed a family. You can’t just step out your back door and shoot an elk when you get hungry….official hunting seasons and expensive license? Do they think Idaho will let them pass on this? You have to drill very deep to get water. I didn’t see any gas stations on that map. Right now it’s -12 and I have a furnace and well insulated house and it’s still cold in here. How are those businesses going to stay open if no one has money to buy anything? Don’t see any farmland or farms for cattle, chicken, pigs for milk eggs and meat? Who is going to grow enough wheat for bread? Beck is one of the stupidest people I have heard of and any of the idiots who will follow him there! Does he think Idaho Power is going to give him electricity to run his radio and TV station to brain wash more people to join them so he will get rich. Can’t you just see him in bib overhauls and straw hat with a hoe in his hand hoeing weeds in his garden and carrying his produce to market. Talk about a reality show! Get the popcorn!

Is this one of Glenn Beck’s ideas? I say let them build their Citadel. Keep them separate from the rest of the Idaho and the US. They can’t leave unless they have a passport. And don’t issue them any passports. No Government help. They have to devise their own electricity, water, currency (which is not recognized outside their fortress) They will not be allowed to hunt animals outside their compound. And give up their citizenship. I could go on and on but I think you get my drift. Tell those that want to live there to think long and hard before they sign on the dotted line as if they get tired of living that way they will have to file citizenship to enter the US IF, they are even considered, as the immigration list is mighty long. Hope they are leaving soon.

Well, well, well…
What we have here folks, is another little pocket of totalitarianism…opps, er-ahh, I mean, a “utopian-flavored cult” chocked full of oppositional defiant personalities with guns who are gonna’ isolate themselves in a compound–sweet! Now, what could possibly go wrong?!
The biggest lie they are telling the world is this:
they are “leaderless”. All cults are formed around a charismatic leader and an elite inner circle. The reason they are “broadcasting” this big ass lie is:
1. It is a recruitment tool. Plain and simple. They know what will draw and sell; why else would they have “glossy” marketing advertisements?
2. They are hiding the deep pockets behind the scenes.
They don’t want anyone to know how they got the funds or where they come from. Cults always hide the money (as they are usually running shady to illegal operations, but…it’s OK if it’s for the “liege”.
3. The leaders are known “cons” of some fame or notoriety; either they have records and are on the lame, they are on the SPLC “Hate Watch” list, etc.
They are giving the government the finger, then saying “Oh, by the way, here is our address…in case you want to, you know, find us”.
Sigh…I give it until the end of the year before there are “escapees” from “utopia” who get book deals as the former members of the Citadel Cult.

Seems like one of those Boise City, OK scams…a beautiful prairie town with tree lined streets and artesian wells! Too bad the town didn’t exist, and the agriculture of the Oklahoma panhandle can’t support that many people.
The whole thing seems like a ploy to populate acompany town to me. No one owns property, the main employer is the factory, you have to pay in local currency at the company store… The innovation here is that the people in the town think their enslavement and imprisonment is liberty, and that their contract is for life.
