Harry Reid Fires Back and Calls John Boehner a Do Nothing Speaker
Harry Reid fired back at John Boehner’s attempt to blame the Senate for the sequester by saying, “The speaker’s doing nothing to try to pass anything.”
After trying to blame just the president got him nowhere, Speaker Boehner took aim at the Senate Democrats.
Video:
Speaker Boehner (R-OH) said, “The president has known for 16 months that the sequester was looming out there when the super committee failed to come to an agreement. And so for 16 months the president’s been traveling all over the country holding rallies instead of sitting down with Senate leaders in order to try to forge an agreement over there in order to move a bill. We have moved a bill in the House twice, we should not have to move a third bill before the Senate gets off their ass and begins to do something.”
Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) fired back at Boehner, “I think he should understand who is sitting on his posterior. We’re working to pass something. The speaker’s doing nothing to try to pass anything.”
Boehner has the entire legislative process backwards. The bills that the last House passed in 2012 would end food and medical care for nearly 2.5 million Americans, but those bills died with the end of the 112 Congress. Speaker Boehner knows this, but he has yet to pass a sequester replacement bill in the new Congress. The reason why Boehner hasn’t passed a sequester replacement is because he doesn’t have the votes needed for passage.
Beneath Boehner’s blame game is the fact that he can’t pass anything. This is why he is trying push the blame on to the Senate and the White House. House Republicans aren’t trying to avoid the sequester. They are trying to pass the buck. The reality is that the president can’t do anything until after Congress passes the legislation.
Since this is a budgetary matter, the House will have to pass a sequester replacement bill. John Boehner has redefined the meaning of the term do nothing speaker. The 112 Congress was the most unproductive since 1947-1948. The gridlock was caused by House Republicans who refused to compromise.
The speaker is still refusing to compromise, but he is also not doing his job. The House must pass a new sequester replacement. What the House did in the old congress does not carry over. The House hasn’t even voted for a sequester replacement in the new Congress. In reality, it is John Boehner who is content to sit on his ass and try to win the blame game while Rome burns.
John Boehner’s empty tough talk isn’t going to put food on the table of workers who are facing layoffs or pay cuts thanks to his sequester. It’s looks like Boehner’s do nothing incompetence is finally about to catch up with him.

Boner just knows nothing he would come up with would pass. He knows spending bills start in the house he just hopes no one took Civics in high school. Hope he doesn’t turn orange and cry now. Hate to see a semi grown man cry.

Wow, that’s some smackdown coming from Harry Reid.
Does weepy, whiny noBoener think all Americans are as stupid as the one who vote for him and his ilk. Even this Canadian knows that as per the Constitution, the House writes the bills/laws which then go to the Senate for approval, and if approved, the POTUS signs into into law. Does weepy whiny noBoener not know that a Presidential election was held in November 2012 and all old bills are irrelevant and of no use in this new Congress.

And when Boehner took to the podium with the bank of microphones in front of 4 American flags, and he asked why the president doesn’t have a plan- who in the media told him he was wrong & showed him the plan?
The media has been a compliant, lazy enabler to the Republicans. The blame should be on them as well. The media is supposed to inform the people and they have failed.

You are 100% correct. The media has failed the American people by giving a platform to these liars and then letting their comments stand without questioning them and giving the real facts . I am so sick of the so called broadcast journalists.

Thank you for saying what the rest of the media hasn’t, when Boehner talks about the House passing two bills addressing the sequester in 2012. They never challenge him that those bills are no longer valid with the new House; or that Boehner knew those bills would never be passed by the Senate or even signed by Obama

What difference does it make whether or not the Senate would pass them, or whether or not President Obama would sign them.
At least they passed something.
It’s the Senate that let them die, without even as much as a sit down with the House.
So, who’s to blame???

Pastor eegit, maybe if noBoener had included the House Democrats in creating the bills in a bipartisan manner, he would have had something that could pass muster in the Senate, but he didn’t and even his fellow R’tugs in Congress rejected his own bill.

What part of including more revenue along with more spending cuts does Boner not understand? They ran an entire presidential campaign on the idea of removing tax loopholes as the solution to the problem and now when it comes time to remove those loopholes they no longer want anything to do with it.
If the president hasn’t been doing anything for 16 months then what does Boner have to say about congress not doing anything for 4 years?

Bravo Cyndi! Excellent point. Close the loopholes! I can’t wait until Boner is out on his Ass in the 2014 Election. They are fooling less and less voters all the time with their ridiculous prostration to the Koch brothers and their ilk.

Harry Reid has KILLED EVERY SPENDING BILL from the house that has cuts in it. Reid will only sign those that have massive tax increases. Harry also forgets that he headed up the Senate when every media outlet called the 2007-2009 congress “The do nothing congress”. Reid is doing what Psychologists call reflextion.
Reflexion is when you see others with the same problems as you. Makes it seem that those around you are normal when you are not.

The question was ,is there anyway to get around gop obstructionism and I answered it.Now he may have been talking about sequester but I was just giving the rules of the house. So we were both right. Now all we have to know now is did anyone ever bring it up in committee because we know a lot of things get sent there and die.

Boehner should have never begun making the president and the Senate responsible for budgetary/revenue issues. He’s not very smart, is he? See, there are those of us who know what is in the Constitution. We know he’s lying, and we know he’s lying because he has no idea of what to do. We also know he and his colleagues have placed themselves into a corner of their own making, all because they hate the word compromise, and because they’re still angry that Romney isn’t in the WH. The Americans who are believing Boehner’s bullshit are doing it because they don’t know any better. Article I, Section 7 of the Constitution states that budgetary/revenue bills must begin in the House of Representatives, and Article I mandates that it is the responsibility of Congress, not the president, to deal with all fiscal issues. Boehner is revealing to us that he doesn’t know what to do, he isn’t a good leader, and that he is a slacker who expects others to do his job. What a sorry man.
